  • From barely touching a racket to hitting 1,000 forehands a day for a week, did my improvement translate into match success? How long will it take before I can beat Grant?

Your backhand is terrible, but luckily you have one of the best backhands in the world living in the same house to give you some tips.

2:25 That is a very , very nice forehand. Keep practicing that. You have a pretty natural swing. Obviously needs some tweaking, but quite nice actually.

Thumbs up. I think you are better at this point than your brother was this early on.

Swing faster and let the ball drop a bit more, and you will never miss that approach forehand. Brush the ball don’t try to just rip right through it. Also don’t forget to move forward when your hitting the ball to transfer that weight

This is some of the best beginner tennis I have ever seen! Just some advice to you, you’re staying at the baseline a lot. Don’t always stay at the baseline, hit a shot that’s near the line and go to the net. He will have trouble returning the first shot, and it’s an easy volley for you! I know you did try this in the video, and he lobbed it over you. Whenever they lob it over you, if it’s a short lob, then you can just smash the ball since it is so high in the air. If it’s a long lob, which reaches the baseline, then just focus on getting the ball back on the other side, and try to get it deep on the other side, as likely your opponent will be waiting at the net for a volley or smash because they hit a deep lob, which is pretty hard to return and they know it. Keep up the great work, you will be a great player if you practice consistently and don’t give up!

I love this channel and the grind. As a current college player, I’d advise you to learn technique as best you can BEFORE you put in the reps. If you put in the reps doing it wrong, you will only have to undo all of that later by doing MORE reps, if you want to get better. Study the game as best you can! Good luck!
