A father-daughter road trip set in 1990s Poland, TREASURE follows Ruth (Dunham), an American music journalist, and her father, Edek (Fry), a charmingly stubborn Holocaust survivor, on a journey to his homeland. While Ruth is eager to make sense of her family’s past, Edek embarks on the trip with his own agenda. This emotional, funny culture clash of two New Yorkers exploring post-socialist Poland is a powerful example of how reconnecting with family and the past can be an unexpected treasure.

I just saw this movie and enjoyed it. It’s not a holocaust movie , per say ,but rather a movie about the complexities of family relationships. Very sad at times but with a warm ending !!
2000 - Zamachowski is driving Russell Crowe
2024 - Zamachowski is driving Dunham and Fry😄
I'm glad I saw this trailer at 7am and not 11pm
And you are right! I'm watching at 11pm (on the dot). Bad idea.
Interesting point of virw that should not be forgotten
When are you going to learn about the Peter Goras?
Is this music Gogol Bordello? It has to be. Or at least a side project of Eugene. I need more info. It looks good. Been a while since I watched a movie like this.
The band is Golem, and the song is "Warsaw Is Khelm"!
God, i haven't heard that band in ages...
Is this the same actress that played the crazy stalker next door neighbor in two and a half men, I think her name was rose?
no. that was melanie lynskey
No this isn’t her
Why is his accent Russian?
Because Poland and the former Soviet Union were neighboring countries and their languages sound very similar.
Hahahaha @@Mickey-tp4dw so not!!!
@@Mickey-tp4dw No. Little Soviert influence on the Poles before the war. I have Russian friends and Polish friends and their accents are similar but very distinguishable. Fry sounds Russian. Streep should have played the dad. She would have nailed it. And could Dunham be any more annoying? FFS!
@@Mickey-tp4dw As a Polish person who has many family members that have an accent when they speak English... no they don't sound similar
There is a distinct difference in the accents...
They say of the Lena Dunham where the Stephen Fry is…
To teraz przydało by się nagrać film o Niemczech😉 😂😂😂 i ich czystych miastach ulicach, to nie jest film o Polsce i Polakach tylko o "Żydach" w Polsce 😉
For those who are unaware, Lena Dunham suffers from both endometriosis as well as EDS. This is one of the main reasons she looks much different than she did some years ago, as both of these diseases can greatly affect your physical appearance. I know it's popular to not like her, but maybe try and educate yourself a bit before just spewing negativity.
Don't like her regardless.
Neither of these conditions effect physical appearance. Anyone can look this up and see for themselves.
@@SpaceTravel1776- They do. They cause weight gain, and weight gain can change a person’s appearance drastically. Personally, though, she’s beautiful and funny regardless.
That you are apologizing for her weight gain is funny. We are getting older and incrementally fatter. Do not apologize for getting older.
Lena, I will follow you anywhere. But not in a stalker way. I mean I will watch/listen to/promote anything you touch. You’re brilliant.
The sole fact that this is a movie "about" Poland, by the germans is a disgrace.
I am really upset about it. I am so upset I am in tears!
My mother was a history teacher, and she used to tell me about how survivors would go back to their cities, their villages, their homes -- just to see who might have survived. A sister, a cousin, even a parent, maybe....?? They were not trying to take anything back! (Not even a teapot!)
And after knocking on the door and saying who they were, they would be killed bc the Poles were such anti-Semites and so disappointed they lost the war, they didn't want to have to give anything back too! The poles have not changed much since either truth be told!
But I saw someone comment on the film being about "Socialist Poland" after the war. And I thought, Aha, now we are going to rewrite HISTORY?? Literally?? And why is it so bad to say that it was communist? IT WAS A COMMUNIST COUNTRY!! For decades after the war! THAT was their punishment for being a nation with hate in their hearts!! Which is why I answered your comment. I sympathize with what you wrote.
Let's wait and see.... when Lena Dunham is good, she's very, very good! BUT.... when she sucks....lol
Keep well!
Did you see the comment in Polish? Click translate on that one! The Poles haven't changed one bit! They should be thankful someone made a movie about them at all!!
@shapelessed
@@skontheroad Your opinion is quite honestly disgustingly smug and obviously taken from a selfish pedestal..
"they would be killed bc the Poles were such anti-Semites"? - Excuse me? You conveniently left out the fact that entire families were killed by germans because other people with death sentences ratted on them to literally stay alive.
You're calling them anti-semites while ignoring that they were given a choice - Give up all the jews and (hopefully) stay alive or die protecting them.
How do you think Poland had stood strong despite being taken off the map for decades, being taken apart by Russians *and* germans? They see through propaganda really quick and don't conform to it. Even now the german government stands against any bigger economic investments in Poland because it could steal profits from their own economy.
Well, fuck…
Complete your thoughts, Tyler
@@car1475.If it play in my local theater I’ll be seated
Ahhh yes another portrayal of Poland as this super grey, sad looking place, even in the 90s. Poland has beautiful hot summers (yes it can get to 25-30 degrees for long period of time) and even during winter it can be very sunny! The most grey, sad and rainy place in Europe I have ever experienced is UK. So please stop with this narrative already as it’s simply not true. Putting that sad ass filter on top makes me just roll my eyes like here we go again.
I was just about to write like with is this grey depressing Poland?? It's frustrating and lazy. The director is German so maybe that's why?
It takes place during the winter time , that could be a reason why it seems dark … and the subject matter is not made for warmth or sunny days . It’s a good movie !
Yes, it is stereotypical but it has reasons for it:
1) The father of the main character had to be old enough ro remember the war and lively enough to be a playful persona, so the early 90's seem a right choice
2) Early 90's is the only era in which we could excuse the "sad eastern europe filter" as at that time all post-communist countries might have had similar vibe to an outsiders eye and movie makers are supposed to hit the viewer in the head with "we're in that place and that time babe" stick
3) A movie, in order to be interesting has to have this "exotic" vibe. If it was summer and not a blue filter noone would wanna watch it
Besides, summer in Poland 2010 and winter in Poland 1995 are kinda like 2 different worlds.
It's also interesting that we start looking at the 90's as a history and from a distance. Im glad they captured the places that still look like back then as soon they will not be there. Would anyone like to see a movie about the Polands 90s with CGI fake backgrounds made in 2040? What would be the potential to destroy the true colours with that scenario? Much bigger
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤡🤡🤡🤡
Is Lena wearing a fat suit like Brendan Fraser in The Whale?
No
@@ubetternotblink Maybe it's CGI.
Let's hope she went on Ozempic like everyone else here in LA, bc I am pretty sure that's her....
@skontheroad Ozempic is not good for ppl...My sister is a diabetic. They put her on it and her face has SO many wrinkles now. Like she aged 10 years in 4 months..Worst part she was at best like 140/160 when she was put on it in the first place..She didn't need it..But because of Dr's and female vanity she listened to the Dr's and took it...Ppl look horrible in the face afterwards. .It's not heavy ppl becoming skinny lines like ppl try to claim...It literally ages you
@@adamkondracki3201 Yes, they call it "Ozempic Face" but not everyone gets it. If it makes her feel good about herself and she likes the way she looks, great!
Nothing ever tastes as good as thin feels! Most women will agree!
The Jew fled Poland, when Poland rebuilt itself the Jew wanted to return for claims.
He could have come after the war and taken to Israel bricks from the ruins of the buildings the Germans left behind.
Lmao, Poles never built anything for themselves. The Russians and Ukrainians has to rebuild the whole country after the war (because Germany destroyed most of the cities.)
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤦♀️@@gunterxvoices4101
Jew did go back to Poland after the camps, but Poles already lived in his apartment and they killed him.
The Poles killed the Jews.
So true. Most Polish cities were completely destroyed. My grandfather mandatory rebuilt Warsaw for two years. West sold Poles for Stalin for half a century. 6 milion Poles died and not a word about it. Daughter correcting that it is not museum like we have not respect for Auschwitz. Google who Witold Pilecki was.
Lena dunham is 38!?? she looks 47
ale nudy
Did you know... The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life throught Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 You and I broke the law and Jesus paid the fine. God demonstrates his own love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Believe and repent today! The consequences are eternal.
Who cares? Get a life. What does a movie trailer have to do with your magical book scripture?
Good word! Thanks for the encouragement, it seems that the gospel message is universal for those who are in need .
That woman looks like she ate Lena Dunham.😂
This looks stupid. ANOTHER film on this subject? Enough already. How about the plight of those in Gaza? Where's their story Lena?
At the film festival in my city, there were at least five movies about Palestine
A knock off of the whale without body suits.
Polish woke film ....
Daaaamn she wearing a fat suit or what?
