My brother died a couple of days ago, and my other brother has been playing this a lot. It feels like someone took my family’s situation, placed it in a movie and put this soundtrack over. We’re all very shocked, and I feel so restless. Sometimes I cant cry, but this releases the tears and makes me so calm.

I was watching this live today in Zürich. This song was the main reason why I drove from Vienna to Zürich - to finally see this live after hearing this so many times online. The performance was worth every single EUR/CHF. Seeing how much emotions/feelings/power and especially physical pain playing this after a full 1,5h concert means was mindlblowing. In the end, we all witnessed how dedicated Joep is and how much it means for him ending a concert with this absolute masterpiece.
Thank you for magical 1,5h. Say "Thank you" to Lotus for borrowing us her dad!

Story of "Hanging D" is really impressive. After one of his close friend died at a tragic traffic accident, Joep composed the "Hanging D".
I think why the song is hanging on a note, he calls it "D" by the meaing of "he doesn't leave his friend alone" and moreover if you pay attention to ending of the song, it finishes suddenly like effect of sudden traffic accident. That is really touching and has too many feeling deep inside of it.

You can do it if you don't concentrate on the tension in your hands and you don't push hard on the keys, that way you don't really get tired. Also, try to concentrate on some powerful thought and try to breathe the same way you do when you meditate, the pain in arms always flows away for a bit when you breathe out and try to relieve the tension from your shoulders. Don't be rigid.
