This made my day. I had a house built about 2 years ago in Biliran and plan on retiring in the Philippines in a couple more years and do a lot of offshore fishing. I don't know what tomorrow may bring but that's my plan today.
Glad you did go to the Philippines and had a great time catching all kinds of species of fish! Welcome to the Philippines! Now living in Florida. Take care, I had a great time watching your video.
I think its called tulingan? And i google it says that Tulingan is a type of bonito fish that is high in omega-3 and acids. It has a deeply forked tail, vertical stripes on its back, and a small, velvety scale. Tulingan is commonly found in tropical and temperate seas, where it swims in schools across the ocean. You really do have to bleed them first best way is to cut out one gill and let them swim in the bait tank. Pumps the blood out and lightens the flesh considerably.
Great to see the slow pitch jigging working in the Philippines. I will be retiring there and fishing a lot. I have all the gear ready to go. Thanks for the video
It’s the way they cook the Bonita in the Philippines. I use to live their Nate. I caught a Bonita here in Jacksonville. My wife is from the P.I. She prepared it and it was incredible. Bleed them out!
Nate amazing adventure you had - I visited the Philippines when I was in the military and I still remember that deep blue calm water - I didn’t fish and almost scuba dived but the thought of diving in deep waters was just as uncomfortable as you attempting to eat that Bonita soup - never heard of Dubai fishing but have heard a lot about Costa Rica fishing-tight lines- respectfully PuraSal Angler 🙌🏻
The joy in your eyes is priceless. Bro this is my dream when i retire. Just fishing everyday in the middle of the ocean. Except of course when the weather won't allow it. LOL. pretty soon. pretty soon. Cant wait.
I know the feeling of catching fish that you have not "unlocked" and it is pure joy and excitement. Amazing catch, hoping to do the same in the Philippines. May I know the brand and model of that rod? That is a mighty strong thin rod.
i'm from philippines, and honestly fish from different regions also taste different. in my opinion, fish from mindanao taste sweeter and less gamy than caught in luzon
Thankyou for visiting our country! We hope you had a great time and gain many experiences! Theirs plenty of places to fish in the Philippines that don’t require you to troll out too far out. Theirs even better shore fishing spots that you can catch the same sized snappers! Hope you come again man!
Congratulation Sir, fish on!!! 🎣🐟🎣🐠🎣🐟you caught amazing fishes in our country's sea in Palawan. Thank you in visiting our country and hoping you will visit again!😊😊😊❤❤❤👍👍👍
I love Bonita, but you have to eat it fresh and bleed it but my most favorite way to eat Bonita is smoked and you have to do that on one of your shows catch and eat smoke Bonita. I think that would be an awesome show.
I grew up in Philippines and now here in Florida loving fishing, man I can’t wait to fish back home, thank you sir and I enjoy your videos, subscribed.
That bonito you caught actually looks like a eastern little tuna or kawa kawa, different than the other bonita species like oceanic bonita (skipjack tuna) and atlantic bonito. Ive eaten them all, nothing wrong with them if bleed and prepared correctly
Awesome video! I'm an avid fisherman also and the only thing I can say is that fish in the Philippines have lesser fish oil compared to the fish here in the the U.S, especially on the northwest. Still good eating though. Hopefully will be able to fish back there next year.
The charter provided all of the gear. All I had to do was show up and fish! Highly recommend booking a trip with Palawan Fishing Buddy, amazing experience!!
Got here about 6 years ago. Travel and fishing are awesome here in the Philippines. Those Jigpoy lures are incredible. I swear those are the only ones that work for me. Glad you enjoyed and when i visit family in Alabama, I'll have to do some fishing there too.
Thank you for visiting & fishing in our beloved county Philippines islands of smiles. 250-300+ meters glad you didnt hookup to a thresher it'll take another 150-200m of line that would be an insane workout for you brother 😅 hope you enjoyed your stay & wish you could visit again 💪fish be with yawll
Awesome trip man! Awesome vids. Can’t believe the fish were catching your jigs in the way down. I would have made sashimi on that ruby snapper right there, and crack a San Miguel. Dubai! Keep it coming 🤙🏾
Nate, the jack you caught on day 3 was actually a Almaco Jack and not an AJ, so you did get another species on the day/trip. Are those ruby snapper the same as the queen snapper we get deep dropping in the gulf? Great trip. Tight lines and screaming drags. BTW, Costa Rica gets my vote.
since the Philippines is composed of many islands, hope you come back here in the Philippines sir and try some other islands to fish especially in the Visayas or Mindanao Regions. for Luzon, try the extreme north ❤ Palawan is just a small tip on the Philippine iceberg 😂 great fishing video and thanks for making our country your first overseas fishing destination!
This is awesome. I fished in the Philippines in Boracay and we only caught reef fish you would see in a fish tank, but we didn't go out that deep. I think you should go to Dubai next. That's on my bucket list. I'd love to see what fish is available there before I plan a trip.
wow what a trip! took a trip there to see family 2yrs ago...next trip, we gotta do some fishing, looks like a great time! love the travel series idea...
Your lucky to have those nice spots. I’m jigging 180m deep using 280 grams jigs. Years ago I catch real big tunas, amberjacks, sailfish, rubies, scabbards etc. But lately I have no luck
I enjoyed the video. It was something different from you and I got to see a little more of your personality. I know there is some great fishing in Costa Rica and I think you would really like the fishing experience there. 👍
With the middle east fixing to blow up I would put off that trip for now. It is always fun in the Philippines. We have property on iloilo and was thinking about getting a seadoo fish pro to fish there. Keep up the good videos 👍
Bonito is great for making soup stock, or cooking in stews. Grilling it is nice too, but it might be off-putting at first. Dip it in some soy sauce and calamansi to cut through the slight bitterness of it.
WELCOME TO THE PHILIPPINES BRO. IM SO JEALOUS FISHING ANYWHERE IN THE PHILIPPINES. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR ADVENTURES ON THE ISLAND OF PALAWAN. GOD BLESS
Great video I love watching your videos man cuz you seem like a tangible person like a real person that I could actually meet or text and not like some movie star like some of them so keep up the good work hey I'm a fan
Hello from Moss Point, MS. Love your local videos. Now I really loved seeing all these new fish. That Strawberry Grouper was my favorite. How about a trip to Puerto Rico or maybe the D.R.? Tight lines my brother.
Bonita is my wife's favorite fish here in Socal. But, you've got to know how to prepare it. First off you've got to bleed the fish out after catching it and keep it on ice. Then filet the fish and cut out the blood line. Then marinate the filets in buttermilk, bread them and fry them. MMMMMM.
Excellent video, Nate! Nice change of pace! I think you need to hook into a big Rooster Fish in Costa Rica on your next adventure! Stay Safe and Healthy!
Grew up in the Philippines in the 1960s as my Dad was in the US Air Force. Nice that you got to visit and fish. Eat some lumpia for me.
Awesome! You bet brother!!
Hahahahahhaha

Awesome!!
It’s a healthy and tasty way to cook fish. Not popular in America!
Well. Thanks for adding a new item to my bucket list. That look so much fun.
It was an amazing experience!
Nice video sir Nate! Again Thank you very much for visiting Palawan. More Power to you sir.

I thought so too but JJ said AJ so I went with it. Probably a language barrier for species translation. Ruby’s are very close to the Queens.
This is the content that's I love the most

The bonito fish you're partaining to is Bullet Tuna also called Tulingan in the Philippines!
