Of course i thought he was bullshittin but he insisted i watch the replay and sure enough it went down just like you said. Loved those old sox teams, they were full of characters.
You forgot the time he had a big water bottle in his back pocket out in left field, and the time he started running in because he thought there were 3 outs but there were only 2 and Pedro had to hide behind his glove because he was laughing so hard 🤣 I ❤️ Manny Being Manny! Great video 😄
Look up the vid where Francona tells the story of Manny jawing with Molina about stealing signs. Francona pleads to the ump “Manny doesn’t even know OUR signs!”
I remember an at bat where he swung and missed and looked absolutely clueless. The very next pitch he hit a majestic home run. The absolute extremes of defeat and victory were stunning.
He was a genius at setting up the pitcher. That move was most likely a calculated move by Manny. Ortiz used to talk about Manny’s hitting genius and the way he would win the mental battle with pitchers. And Manny resurrected Ortiz’s Career by teaching him how to set up pitches to pitch him away and then hit to the opposite field by going with the pitch, something David rarely did before Manny arrived .
High fiving the fan in Baltimore, and cutting off Damon's throw are two things I'll never forget in my life. There WILL NEVER be another player like Manny.
This is what baseball needs, fun players that love the game and give the fans a show and interacting with them. God forbid that the old writers get upset over it.....
Just sad that he quit on the Red Sox in 2008....no doubt if they had him all year, they beat the Devil Rays and most likely crush the Phillies. When he was being fun and killing the ball....wow that was a cool time!
Pure swag and the cleanest swing I've ever seen. He was my favorite player growing up. With him and Ortiz on the same team it was a nightmare for pitchers.
Steroids or Not one of my favorite players and that swing of the bat he had looked effortless and he hit misiles, and I believe he started the bat flip....
Manny seemed like a really cool dude. Looked like he had a lot of fun on the diamond. And he played the game effortlessly. A big time game changer, was fun to watch. Great player and video.
The best Manny Being Manny clip would be when he was trying to get traded away from Boston and went to the plate to watch three strikes go by without lifting the bat off his shoulder.
Manny... thank you for reppin' Washington Heights & NOW, thank you for using your fame to glorify Lord Jesus. God bless & keep you & your family, Brother.
As a Blue Jays fan and as a vehement hater of steroid users, I still love Manny. Such an unbelievable talent. Too bad he did roids because mini Manny that played longer would have been amazing. I hated Manny as a kid because I had to. As an adult I really just wish he didn’t roid.
People don’t even remember what this was all about, “Manny Being Manny” was a way for Manny to get himself traded without losing the fans. He literally tried to get traded every year from 2005-2008 until the Red Sox finally called his bluff
Mark L it’s not not the phrase itself, the campaign to be traded that he covered up with the phrase. There was the bizarre cutoff play with Damon in 03 but I don’t think Manny was messing with the team on that one. The first time he said “it’s just Manny being Manny, manny” in Boston was I believe after he disappeared into the green monster during a commercial break, which was pretty harmless, but then he started applying it to things like misplayed balls on purpose (Houston 2008?), and to his constant trade rumors. This is where it kind of got darker, Manny kind of got a bitter side to him and then fell off the face of the earth as soon as he was traded and started getting busted for steroids every year. Which is all bizarre because that all would indicate a player on the decline, and as it turned out he was, yet he had just had an amazing postseason in 2007 yet it seemed Manny was desperate for maybe one last big contract which is why he started acting crazy, got traded and started juicing
The Manny and Ortiz one two punch in the middle of the Sox lineup was pretty badass.
I miss those day's...

Sad we have very few players like this anymore. The kid in Cincy has some antics to him and is exciting.
