Thank you for this video dude.. I have been researching this bike and I am now going to purchase it, you have answered all my questions 👌🙏✌️
The entrance words got me laugh so hard :D I had to check my language preferences because all the videos were coming in Italian. Thanks for the English content
Finally, a review in English!! Just what i was looking for.. good review, thanks a bunch 👍
Picked mine up and went on my usual ride and I have to say the battery is excellent lasting more than I expected. Also makes the hills a breeze now.
Thank you for this review Max.
Fab review.... Answered all my questions thanks!
Great review pal, i enjoyed it.
Thanks for this video mate, just bought one of these and comes in 2 days and now I'm even more hyped about it then I was hahahahah
hi Max, thanks for a great review. Really informative! I'm thinking of getting one. I f I do, I will share my experience. Cheers.
Thanks bud! This was helpful. I’m returning my road bike and replacing it with this one
This video helped me a lot. Great info .
There really aren't many reviews at all. This one was great though, thanks for this! I just bought an EST-900 and might need to make my first ever youtube video because there should be more reviews of these!
Absolutely, I totally agree! It's a great bike with not much info about it on UA-cam. Thanks for the kind words :)
Great review juat got the xl st100 love it
Got this one new for my wife in a sale, was only 650 pounds! Great review, didn't know about the + button!
Underrated channel
thanks for this ordered cause of this review nice one !
Eventually a review in English 👍🏻 been looking at this and the E-ST500 for a while now and wasn’t sure if the motor was powerful enough so thanks for this info👌🏻
Which one did you choose? The E-ST100 is available for 899euro at this moment, I am not sure if I get it.
Great review thank you , all I need now is to sell my Boardman adv gravel bike and I’ll buy one , and the women’s frame too . The e bike will be great for the Cornish hills.
Thanks for useful review, I just bought a medium for my wife for Xmas but £999 😱
Really appreciate that bro
Excellent review , well done, was undecided between the Carrera E - vengance & The Decathlon Rockrider, as i'm short i might go for the womans version, and save a few quid, like yu say it looks good. Good luck with your channel .
thanks, good review
Nice Review bro i'm buying this Bike tmr. 2:25 Also about the stairs, you can watch Mike Boyd
's video about him learning to cycle a bike upstairs. Really worth it and a timesaver!
Awesome man I will do. Cheers for the tip and Im glad it helped. Still riding it, having a blast after 6 months I know you'll love it to!
Thank you mister. Just got mine, won in a contest. The MANLY one :D
Good video. Thanks.
Thanks for the vid
Thank you so much sir
Thanks mate !
Buenas, tengo un problema y a ver si me puede ayudar. Bicicleta marca error 70 y en manual dice que es debido a sensor de pedaleo. Cual lo he cambiado pero sigue dando el mismo error.
Que me sugiere??
Brilliant mate! I was toying around getting this, but having watched this, I pulled the trigger! Can't wait for it to be delivered! :)
Nice review, I've just ordered one can't wait to get out on in the spring. I live in the high peak Derbyshire so plenty of hills
@@dg115 hey mate check out the comment just a few down from this one. It has the same question and I answered it. I'm just having a hard time copying and pasting it!
I never got the tools in the box with mine is the pedals never had any left or right stickers on them
Good video. I like the bike. It is now £999. I will wait until price lowered again. I can still ride my normal bike. But ebike very fun! This is the most reasonably priced decent looking ebike I know of. Next is Ezego Trail Destroyer but maybe 200 more! But over £1000 for me is no go. Thanks for your English review. I believe if you google you can find English manual
Thanks hasan, I think so too. Its a great middle ground between expensive and cheap. It has everything and feels really great! I'm glad you got some good info from my video.
Great video. I'm currently thinking of buying this. what's it like a year on? range changes services ect
How is the range if you drive it with 2nd speed mode ?
Its been 3 month iam using this cycle. I can't ride this cycle without battery feels like riding a mountain so heavy to pedal even i change the gear are you feeling the same?
Thanks 🎉
Thanks! From Russia! Am take him.
Coming soon testing
Thanks a lot
Nice. Extra kudo for reviewing a bike that's dirty.. Other reviews show off a bike that look like it's never been used... I hate that.
Would this bike be enough to commute to work and back again? Thanks
does the womans one differ in anyways to the mens other than the colour?
Hi, Max :) Do you have any additional thoughts, do you still ride it? Did the battery survive for two years? Can you ride it without the battery? It adds some weight and maybe if I go on a ride where it won't be necessary I can just leave it at home..? Hope you see this :) Thank you!
Is there a thumb throtle connection option?
Thank you
Do u still have the bike how do you change the screen to mph
Hi Max. Thank you so much for this very informative video, I really enjoyed it. I'm definitely leaning more towards this e-bike.
Just one question: Which type of pedal assist is it?
Is it the one where you pedal once and it pushes you to a certain speed, or is it a gradual assistance?
It is a gradual assistance so if you stop pedalling it will stop after a sec or so. But it is very powerful so on the 3rd level assistance you can get to 15.5mph fairly easily. Its definitely worth the money expecially for the price range I haven't found any like it! Thank you for your kind words :)
thx buddy
Nice review. What saddle did you buy please?
How to change from kph to mph would have helped??
I have the Male version and what i love the most is the bike works with you and not for you, i didnt want to lose that exercise element, what ive notice a lot of people want to pedal a little then want their bike to carry them. I think thst defeats the purpose of a bicycle you might as well buy a motor bike 🤷🏾♂️ the bicycle does the job for me so far so good
Wouldn't mind hearing a long term test👍👍
Waiting to hear 👂 what you have to say about it… Will buy one after your long term review
Hey thank you so much for the review
Hey Millian, do you need to pedal always to keep the bike running? If I want to run it without pedalling, is it possible?
Hi Max. Thank you for the great video. Been hoping someone would upload an in-depth review of the EST-100 in English and your comments on the bike are really helpful.
Can I ask what size frame you went for?
I'm 5'7 and using Decathlon's size index they recommend buying a medium. However I've read several comments which say the frames are generally oversized. Any advice on this would be hugely appreciated.
Hey mate, I got a large and being 6 foot it fits me well. I actually wished it was slightly larger, so being 5 7' I'd say the medium will fit you well. I have friends who ride my bike around 5 8' and they think the bike I ride is too big for them, so I'd say medium will be safe for you!
Thankyou
How many miles are you guys getting out of it
Bought it thanks to your review. What seat do you have my backside is in pain from the stock one.
Hahaha tell me about it. I got one from go outdoors, they have a gel range I would really recommend! Nice purchase of the bike!!
How fast is it
What is the battery capacity ?
On one full charge how much can It go maximum?
With the bike of power 3 I would say you will only manage 20 miles, but if you are smart with when to turn it to 1/0 and when to put it on 3, you can most likely get 60 miles.
How do you change the screen to mph and to clip the battery in I can't get the battery to click into place correctly been lent the bike and not been shown how to lock the battery back into place once charged many thanks
Okay so the menu options on the display come when you hold the + and - together and also the off and +/-. They all give different options. Also the battery has a lever to it so open the lever and pull it so it doesn't block the battery getting in and then when the battery is in the lever should push in like you feel it getting into the indent on the battery and then close. I hope that helps
Thanks mate found the settings but once in settings how do I exit and how do I allow it to save at MHP many thanks
Thanks Max! I’m considering this mtb, but worried what happens when I overload it. I plan to carry my daughter on my back and together we will weigh over 120kg. Should I get stronger spokes? Anything else?
I would say 120kg is almost the limit but I do carry heavy loads quite often, being 70kg with a 30kg load means the bike easily carries 100kg. The spokes and wheels havent given up on me yet so in my opinion it will be fine! (Just make sure you pump up the tires around/ above 2.2 bar)
Great video but Please help me. Do u mean if u start to paddel that the bike motor pulls u to the max speed and than u need to puch on the padels of if u keep turning real slow does the bike still stay at max speed?
Hi, when you get to 15mph the bike will stop pushing but its very unnoticeable. At that point it will be all you to go faster. But to get to maximum speed you will need to pedal the whole time. Does that answer your q?
@@millian4501 yes almost. And thank u for the fast response. I mean the part u told about in your video. And srry my english is not so good. The part of where u say if u reach 15mph and shift down u only need to keep rotating the paddels and the motor does all the work.
Gr
hi mate thanks for making the video really helpful im just about to buy one. but can i just ask have you been out in the rain with it because i know some bikes are waterproof but not all and i cant seem to find that info on the website. thanks
Hi mate, I cant guarantee its waterproof, BUT, I used the bike in torrential rain for hours and it didn't have any issues with it. I'd say its safe to store the bike in a sheltered place if its raining over night but when in use it will do just fine in the rain. I used mine for deliveroo and would cycle hours in heavy rain many times a month so I think you should be fine!
Speed unlock?
How do you reset the total mileage to zero on the monitor display, can't find any info on this
I don't think you can from what I know. You can buy a replacement display though which if you fit that on for £5-10 would show zero. Probably not what you wanted but that's the only way I know. For each trip you can reset the smaller counter to zero if you were wanting to measure a journey e.t.c
I just ordered the bike but heard that people have problems with the shifter.
Did you have issues or are you concerned about the shifter quality?
No I haven't run into any of those problems. It feels really reliable but the shifter does have adjustments like the breaks so you can get it tuned perfectly. I hope you enjoy it, its a great bike!
@@millian4501 thanks for your fast response :) and i wish you the best time with your MTB too ;)
Thx
Nice review but I was wondering, What is your height and what size did you go for?
Hi
I have a question.Can you recommend the est 520?
Is it for 1799 € any good?
Yes it is good but I thought that for the price difference it wasn't justified. The feel of it isn't too different from the est-100
I went ahead and bought the bike and needed help with something, At 2:05 you mentioned that you can change from KPH to MPH but can you explain how to actually do that as I can't seem to find an option for that.
You hold both the plus and minus and it will come up with St.1 and by clicking the power button it will say St.2. There you can click the plus and it will change to miles and to km. I hope that helps
@@millian4501 omg that was so helpful, thanks for sharing that with me. Now I don't have to do mental math everytime I ride it😂
Apparently it comes with lights but I haven't seen any details are they connected to the wiring or do they need seperate batteries
Yep, they need seperate batteries but the lights are pretty weak. I changed them out for £10 cat eyes and they are great
Cheers
What size was that bike ?
Quick question, can you use the "Walk mode" (pressing and holding the + button) while sitting on it and not pedalling ?
You can but it pushes you about 1mph so it really doesn't do anything. I tried and you fall off the bike waiting for it to push you so it doesn't work like a throttle at all sorry to say
Hello, great video and review. I’m looking at buying one of these. My question would be once it’s assisted you to 25kph is it easy to go beyond 25kph or does it restrict your speed? I’ve only ever ridden an electric Lime bike in London and it doesn’t really let you go above 25kph once you get to that speed.
Hey Olly cheers for the nice words. If you're going downhill it's easy, if you're on a flat it's not hard and doesn't feel like its restricting you. I have a regular mountain bike and the amount of energy it takes to go faster than 25km/h is the same so it's not reducing any power you put in. I hope that helps
hi .. if i ride this bike mostly in mode 1 in flat surfaces will it give me more than 50 miles range?
Hi, I live in city with a lot of hills and is it good on hills, how fast does it go on hill and is it hard to pedal because I want to use it for commuting and I don't want to swat and it is alerady 30°C.
Yes, I use it in the south of England, its very hilly! It works well up hills and you won't be sweating. If you want to see it working up hill I made this video.. ua-cam.com/video/YRgDL2kVeVQ/v-deo.html . If you watch the beginning youll see how easy it goes up hills. Hope it helps.
Hello there I am definitely looking at this myself , I was just wondering your opinion on if its subtitle as a daily commute bike ? its the perfect price and I will probably change the tyres to make it more suitable for tarmac I just don't like the Riverside 500 I just wanted to know your opinion 👍
Hey Alex, I use the bike for deliveroo in the city and it honestly feels really good. The suspension and size of the tires feel really great on the roads and I'm sure that you'd feel the same way! Honestly having it for over 4 months and I still enjoy it.
@@millian4501 excellent thank you for the reply 👍 I'd be doing around 18 miles a day ,with around 500 ft of elevation I could only use my road bike maybe 2x a week due to its all up hill after a day at work. Really insitefull review! Its give me the impression it will be a versatile work horse 👍
@@millian4501 i wanted to use this for delevero. One of my friend told me that screen will be damage after 1 year and after running 4500 km, the motor will be damage.
Great review and thank you.QQ can you remove the battery to make it less attractive to theives when its on the back of my campervan ?
Yeah mate, it's removable. It's got a key lock on it too so if you do want to keep it on you can secure it to the body. It's not a complete fix for thieves but it does the job for me
Hey Max, that was really helpful. Can you tell how is it on road ? I'm sure off road is great but due to the fat tyres doesn't it make little hard or tough ? Thanks !
I almost exclusively use it on the road and it works great. Its really good for jumping up kerbs and its very smooth to ride. I hope that helps, and thank you for the kind words!
@@millian4501 hey Max can you please share range with different assist modes please. Thanks 👍
Hey Max! Ty for your nice review man!! Does the bike have a good gear because it's dechatlon own brand gear right ??
Thanks for the kind words! Yep the gears are good quality. After a few months of using it now, and a few falls, the gears have suffered a little bit. It is just a case of taking them into a bike store to have them fixed. With proper care they should last you a while!
@@millian4501 Ahwww Ty man! Very good and clear answer and so fast really thanks for that!
i also prefer the women version :p but thanks this video is way better than the others
Great video, thank you.
I also prefer the white version. Is there any differences at all apart from the colour? They look identical. 🤷🏻♂️
The only difference is the angle the curves takes as it reaches the seat post. Personally I think it looks better in the white!
Where do you live? With that speed keeping up with trafic sounds like there are always trafic jams or something.
hahaha in a city, so the traffic lights help me with keeping up with the flow of traffic
Really good review, just purchased this bike, would you recommend removing the battery when parked to make it less attractive to theives, the repair guy at decathlon said no as it could cause damage to electrics if water gets on contacts,
That's a good point, I hadn't thought of the damage it'd cause. If you are wanting to and the weather isn't bad then there wouldn't be any harm. For me, I have had it a while and never take the battery off even when parked outside shops e.t..c but that's all up to how safe you think it is. As long as it's not raining then taking the battery off won't do any harm
The most important part is the climbing ability cause this bike has only a cadence sensor instead of the torque sensor the E-ST 500 has. Did you try to climb 15 % on the street or 10 % in rough terrain?
Yes I have climbed Hills around 20-25% incline with ease. What I've found is that the cadence sensor makes it easier because if you are in a low gear whilst going up hill, the sensor will see you moving the pedals and apply force. So most of the time I can feel that I am not actually applying ANY pressure whatsoever!
@@millian4501 If you have seen the degree of inclination? I never tried a e bike before and right now, only the Es-t100 can be ordered, not the E-st 500. That's why I am asking cause I have 15 % on the street and ca. 10 % on rough terrain, i.e. rough gravel to climb.
@@macpaul1391 I live by the sea side and travel up hill daily. I can guarantee you that you will be able to climb 15% with ease. On the bike if you turn the assist to level 3 it will work very well! Everyone who's stepped foot on my bike has laughed at how powerful it is. So you will be pleasantly surprised climbing hills easily.
Hey man, thank you so much for the review I haven’t seen much in the way of actual information about this bike. I’m looking to get one of these on the cycle2work scheme my employer has set a budget of £1000 and this looks to be perfect for my size as the carerra vengeance doesn’t seem to go upto the size I need. On the decathlon app the main issue I have read about is the fittings around the battery seem cheap/rubbish plastic. How do they hold up?
Hi did you get one of these as I'm looking to buy one and want to know how they are after some use. Thanks.
@@timrichardson2 yes sir I did and I haven’t had any issues or problems whatsoever for the price it’s really good quality.
@@darrenclewes2385 great, thanks for the info, will getting one in Jan sales hopefully
Just confused among this and carrera vengeance E bike
Help me
So the carrera felt way less durable and well built then this one. The range wasn't as good and the body just didn't look and feel as well built in my opinion. And the maximum range I get is around 60-80 miles depending on how much of the assistance I use. On level 3 it'll go about 45 miles!
Anyone know how to derestrict the est-100
As of yet I haven't been able to find anything useful/ it doesn't seem like there's a hack yet. But if anyone knows please link it!
What about Decathelon service
Do you know how to derestrict these bike to push future than 15 mph , even 19 mph would be good
The only thing I do know is that in the settings of the bike you can change the wheel dimensions and it means that the motor will push faster / slower because it thinks the wheels are bigger / smaller. I've never tried but I remember seeing it on a UA-cam video
hey do u know how i could change wheel dimensions in settings? because i cant seem to find a setting like that@@millian4501
Do you think this bike is better than the halfords Carrera electric bike mate
Hi mate, I personally think it is. The battery is better and the overall build is alot more sturdy from when I looked at the carrera. Im 7 months in now and it still treats me well. Hope that helps
wtf 60 miles = 90km? battery rlly that good? do you know what the difference to the est 500 is? i thought its mainly the battery but doubt the est 500 can rlly do like 150km or something
Hey man, I should have clarified so thanks for the comment! On full level 3 it's about 25-30 miles. But if you get used to the bike, then on flats you turn it down to 1/0 and then hills on 3 you can get around 50-60 miles. Definitely doable. I go on a 25 mile journey each way and return with 1 bar left. From what I have heard is the est500 is really good! Alot more torque,so if you have the extra money I'd go for the est500 but if the 100 is in your price range then definitely go for that! I hope this helps :)
Was looking of your video. Loved it ❤ . Imma buy it for food delivery. Will it be wise? it's 1100 euro in Malta.
Hey from the UK! I use it for food delivery and it's still going strong after 2200 miles
is there anyway to get this spped increased at all
Hey Courtney, I have had a good look around the internet and there doesn't seem to be any easy fixes that I've seen. There may be a module that you can plug between the speed display and the pedal assist that may do something but I haven't been able to find anything conclusive. Sorry about the crappy answer but if you find anything about this please can you write a comment here?? I'm sure loads of people, and me included, would like to know!!
Hi Max, so after having the bike for 7 months what is your verdict? How are the parts of the bike holding up? Does it need a lot of maintenance and how is the battery life? Cheers.
This bike is phenomenal. I just collected mine, cycled along the towpath, through the city centre (Manchester), never came out of level 1 and it rides quite well with no power at all. Absolute bargain, I paid £799. Thanks so much for your review, it helped me decide. ( I'm 60 next month and recovering from major surgery and female, not that that should make any difference).
