    I just bought a pair of the A7V + Sub8 for my PC audio. I’m absolutely in love with them. I’m not a music producer. I just love listening to great music and playing great games. I’m hearing details I never knew were there. This is so much better than the passive speaker systems I used for years. Great video, mate!

      I am going for the Adam a77V so get additional bass so I will not need sub. So happy to hear you are digging the new speaker. I could do what you did and the cost is probably the same price. Thing is I live in an apt so woofer may be too much for neighbors. Enjoy your new gift

      I have been trying to decide between high-end hi-fi speakers, small PA speakers and studio monitors for my living room. They would sit on each side of my digital piano/microphone setup (5' apart) and each will be about 3' from my ears when I'm singing & playing the piano and they should be fine for that BUT most of the time, they will be used for playing pre-recorded music (mostly Rock, Pop, some Classical & Jazz). Do you think the Adam As (with or without a sub) are a good choice for music listening? Thanks.

      @@hienvu1714 I love the A7V for music, but do not recommend the Sub8. I sold it and bought an SVS SB-3000 which does a great job complimenting the A7V. If you get an Adams set, try the UNR setting. It's designed specifically for listening rather than mixing.

    Hi, I really enjoy your channel because you are so thorough and knowledgeable from every angle. I have a huge dilemma. I’m torn between a set of mint P33a and the new A44h. I used Dynaudio BM15 passives with a Bryston 4B for the last 10 years. And I use a mono Avantone as well. I wanted to get my mixing to a next level even though I do electronic music I’m striving to do some Ambient World type music now. Could you recommend which set I should grab?? My hearts tells the P33a for that mid driver but maybe I should get the A44h. What do you think? Can you give a clue or a direct answer? Thanks. You gotta have one the best channels out there for sure. Like that Sound on Sound magazine vibe from bac n de day!

    Okay, so regarding the Adam Audio A77H. Looking at the rear panel.... VOICING knob, ROOM ADAPTATION knobs, RJ-45 jack, okay. But what kills this one is the crazy signal inputs. Only an XLR for balanced, and an RCA (!!!) for unbalanced. Now, with 99% of studio monitor controllers out there having 1/4-inch TRS jacks for the connected monitors -- you simply cannot interface an Adam A-series studio monitor with a normal monitor controller. Unless you want to get into mish-mash cables with different jacks on their ends, never the best of ideas. What was Adam''s thinking here, anyone with a clue? How much would it have cost them to add a separate 1/4-inch jack?

    • @SonicScoop
      @SonicScoop  Рік тому

      Hm, I’d never considered that complaint as the past several pairs of high end studio monitors I’ve had have had XLR only. It’s not uncommon at all. But fortunately, XLR -> 1/4’ cables and adapters are not expensive at all.
      I think one of the issues with 1/4” TRA on the backs of monitors is that there is often nothing there to support the weight of the cable, leading to potential bending and snapping of jacks and plugs over time, which is much less likely with XLR.
      With a desk mounted interface, some of the cable weight may be supported by the desk, and with a rack, cables may be supported by posts or clips on the sides of the interior of the rack.
      But with monitors, you could have several feet of cable weight perpetually hanging down on a single long plug, the leverage of which can cause 1/4” jacks to fail over time.
      (Even if you attach the cable to the side of the speaker stand, all the weight is still downward.)
      The design of XLRs make them likes prone to the problem. This is my guess for why this kind of design is so commonly seen in monitors.
      Hope that helps make sense of it!
      Justin

      Easy listening + DJs…
      Many Adams in the past served elevtronic music creators and DJs very well. I think someone with a DJ setup will appreciat an RCA in, and UNR voicing, yet accurate big sound.
      And don’t forget, if these speakers sound really good indeed, some low budget audiophil guys will appreciate them more.
      Personally I cannot see any problem having only one XLR input for studio use.
      Much bigger problem that I still can’t see any measurement data on Adam Audio’s site, nor there are pro reviews for A77H and A8H, which are they flagship 3-way monitors in the A-series…. why? :(

      I've just switched from my Kali IN-5's to the A8H's. I loved the Kali's but my move to a bigger room in made me look at options. I was able to A-B the two makes and the Adam's are a step up. What you miss on the Kali's is that breathy top, the warm lower mids and the very bottom end. The Adams just sound fuller and smoother. 😎

    the A4V could be use for producing, mixing and mastering? ty

    • @SonicScoop
      @SonicScoop  Рік тому +1

      Yes for producing and mixing, absolutely.
      Mastering… maybe? …with a sub? But honestly, the room is even more important than the speakers on mastering. You’d want to spend (or DIY) substantially more than those speakers cost in room treatment for true mastering applications.
      That is true of any speakers though.

      They are pretty powerful for the size. But Audio Science tested the frequency response and there is a massive dip at 1Khz caused by the front port. The larger size A7V is not suppose to have this problem per Adam. Personally I won’t purchase a rear ported speaker because of my room size and placement restrictions. The 5 year warranty is a plus.

      They start at $500 each or $1000 for the pair. On the pro side things, that’s definitely on the affordable side.

    I Got the A8H’s
    No distortion at high levels. Very detailed. Perfect mixing and mastering. A control software works flawlessly and paired with sonarworks is a match made in Heaven. No need to run sonarworks in the background or in the daw once the calibration has been loaded to the dsp of the AH8. It has a dark full range sound. Not fatiguing at all. No need for a sub even though I have a 10 inch sub. They have a wall of sound that makes you forget that they’re in the room… it’s weird because you can’t perceive the direction of the sound coming from these monitors (and that’s a good thing). The stereo image is wide and the depth is 3D. The highs are smooth. The mids are creamy. The lows are punchy and tight. I’ll never go back to a 2 way monitor after this. Worth every penny.

    Just did a shoot out in a small room with the Focal Alpha Evo 50’s and Adam A7V.
    The stereo image was actually better on the Focal. The inverted tweeter is a bit shouty.
    The A7V needed the low end rolled off, due to the size of the room. Warmer mid’s and the top end was better controlled and just fit better and was not fatiguing.The A4V may have been a better choice for this size room.Those are coming Monday. One of the EQ switches on the back was intermittent at times. That did not inspire confidence at this price.
