He wanted her to do some lead, but she declined. She is battling Multiple Myleoma and she wanted to sing just her harmonies. The past 2 times I've seen him she wasn't there, so this was an incredibly special moment she was even able to get out here, and the song rings even more poignant knowing what's she's been going through since 2018.
