    Two tough guys with lots of hard crashes in the past. These guys are so tough that if they were to get hit by a car while on their motorcyles, they'd stand up, brush off the dirt and high five the driver.

    It's great to see them still able to hit the track at their age. I bet they really enjoyed that, and probably didnt care which one won it

    Aren't Flat-trackers the best looking style of 'bike ever? Wether it's a Harley, Triumph, BSA or a TZ750, so cool!

      @@nigelwolfe6150 Harley bikes were not competitive at that time. I saw Springer race a Harley at Laconia. No way he could keep up with the Yamahas and the Suzukis.

    I’m 70 and I remember Ascot Park in Gardena California, when I got out of the Army in 68 I had a 350 cc Kawasaki Avenger two stroke, after the Races all the Bikes went down Artesia Boulevard a very big and empty street, you’d have 15 Bikes lined up and when the light turned green the Race was on, there wasn’t a BSA, Triumph, Norton or Harley that could touch that Kawasaki, all they wanted to know what the Hell was I riding.

      I got to see Jay race at Ascot . I was 17 years old and now I'm 64. It was the best race I ever got to go to.

    Imagine if both of them were motorcycle cops on XR750's and you decided to run from them while you were on your motorcycle. You would NOT be able to evade them.

    • @tonypybus
      @tonypybus 7 років тому

      SanFranciscoBay On pavement? I can't think of a single modern Japanese 750cc in-line 4 that wouldn't outrun and outhandle the XR750.

    • @sanfranciscobay
      @sanfranciscobay 7 років тому

      Let me rephrase your answer because I find it confusing. Are you saying most that modern Japanese 4 cylinder inline motorcycles could outrun and outhandle a XR750 on pavement?

    • @tonypybus
      @tonypybus 7 років тому

      SanFranciscoBay Yep. Matter of fact, the XR750 will not match a CBR600 for top end speed. Not even close.

    • @moosiah
      @moosiah 7 років тому

      having ridden a TZ250 along side a XR750 at searspoint race track --- I had no problems running away from the XR when I felt like it -- in fact the things that make a XR handle well on dirt just kill it on pavement - a Good XR makes about 85-90 hp today --- even though the little tz only made about 55 it accelerated off the corner faster and had the better brakes into the corner ----- a friend (wade Boyd) rides a R1 1000cc Yamaha on mile tracks ---- it's 30 miles an hour faster than the XRs at the end of the straight -- 140 hp vs 90 ----- look it up on youtube

    Brings back memories when about a dozen or more of us use to go watch them at Eldora Speedway. I consider Eldora the best half mile dirt track in the world. Watching this is bittersweet. We use to party our asses off and have a blast and I cherish all those times. There are six people, including my brother, out of our group who are no longer with us anymore. I would give anything to be able to go to one more race with everyone.

      The main event was always great but the highlight was always the vintage twins race. The prize purse was fan donated and was always a chunk of money because we all knew it would be a hell of a race. Anyone remember the guy who wore a yellow tuxedo over his leathers? 1960s and 70s triumphs, BSAs and Nortons absolutely howling around that tiny track going over the "yump"
