We will never reach a Roddenberry Star Trek level of society, I honestly wish we would but we won't. Its always been like this, and will be always. Awesome video as usual, kudos.
Even Gene's star trek society is not perfect as a society with their technology, there is still shitty bureaucracy, a oligarchical military industrial complex that only allows freedom for those that serve starfleet and it's interests. Sure it has excess resources and doesn't seem that people go hungry or not having to worry about monetary expenses, but at what cost are these freedoms given is the question
@@YourHuckleberry99 Yes, a tad, as shown in DS9 in some excellent story telling, however those evil on the instant surface situations are akin to "The needs of the many out weight the needs of the few, or the one [for the betterment of society at large]". Freedom can be as glorious as an expression of an opinion or as damning as silencing opposition - cause we have the freedom to be as terrible as we allow ourselves to be. Got to walk the fence, and sometimes drag people onto it too. On a personal level Gene's world is a goal to strive for that sadly we will never achieve.

"Reacting to the sensory overload with their primitive nervous systems using little to no critical thinking." Sounds exactly like what we're experiencing now with the pandemic and the rising authoritarianism.
Incredible analysis and interpretation, brilliantly voiced and scripted, production quality off the charts. This is an incredible essay. I wish I found this channel before
FINALY!! I been checking your channel everyday for the new video since you dropped the teaser your videos goes beyond movies, makes me contemplate stuff , keep it going !!!!
I appreciate the direction of narration here. Just like you mentioned towards the beginning, you took an outsiders 'fly on the wall' approach to talking about humanity, referring to it as 'them'. I think it allows a better observation of your views and the facts given, as there isn't some human giving his opinion on humans, but a fly on the wall or an outside force telling it how they see it. Great vid!
Been watching this channel since it's first film analysis. I particularly love the video on 1408 and In the Mouth of Madness. Both stories have captivated me for many years. As does The Divine Comedy (my all time favorite read is Inferno) as he depicts it in the framework of 1408. All of your videos, they captivate me in a similar way.
“Rakka” by Oats Studio (aka Neil Blomkamp) is an excellent short horror-sci-fi film that deals with a hostile alien race invading earth. it’s on youtube for anyone interested. highly recommend but be forewarned it is very, very disturbing.
Today i can see that War of the Worlds could be adpted to have a great message about the pandemic, changing the anti imperialistic meaning of the original for something more modern
This week, a factory that actually removes Carbon from the atmosphere became operational in the US. It’s too expansive to be used in scale but it represents something truly inspirational. Maybe we’ll endure despite ourselves
I think another interesting concept is transhumanism by people who either reluctant or complicit augmenting themselves and become less human piece by piece. While we also see in the same vein robots that would wish to have the same worth and experiences humans are licensed to. It gets overlooked I also see similarities with automatons and the tale of the golem or the construct talos or God making Adam and eve.

If humanity wouldn’t so persistently eradicate those who seek utopian enlightenment it would indeed stand a chance to survive on the long term. So as it stands by now, humanity will not survive into a collective utopian enlightenment without the help of its creator.
This reminds me of the whole point behind Devilman Crybaby. (spoilers) Humanity perished because of our own flaws. Fearful, judgemental and underneath it all, savages. I 100% believe we will perish, if not by aliens, eventually by our own hand.
Awesome vid per usual, and I didn't like the movie at all, not even on an entertainment level, a very flat story, and weak characterization. Your vid The Myth Of The Madman I found spellbinding, and I've rewatched it a few times.
When talking about control and power there are images of the Korean Army. Curiously, Korea has not invaded any country. I would choose images from any other imperialistic capitalist country army, who yes they invade, or try to, continuously.
Aliens aren't real. They are a government psyop to have people chasing and being preoccupied with imaginary beings so that you are distracted as to all the horrible shit they are actually doing.
Interesting but hobbled by two incompatible concepts: "evolution" and "progress". In the process of adaptation, life doesn't regress or progress it adapts. The value judgements behind describing some cultures as regressed of progressed have no legitimate place in evolutionary theory. At the same time, explaining society as a result of evolution is a problem. Arguably humans are no longer subject to most evolutionary forces other than genetic drift or, three thousand years ago, the ability to tolerate lactose. Afghans, Americans, Chinese are all equally evolved. We must look elsewhere for differences between their societies.
this disease that affects humanity is this fear that our lives will eventually end someday and we cannot be part of something special and to have the playground to taste every pleasure on this life. this feeling that we live one time only can in fact generate greed and many other inner feelings and attitudes towards almost everything in this planet.
