Passed mine! Obviously I'm no expert, but let me try and help a few of you out. I worried myself silly this week preparing for the test when in reality, the test really wasn't too tricky. I'm going to write some things I wish I would have seen that would have calmed me down. Here's some advice I can give. Best thing you can do is to try to not be super nervous. I mean yeah, obviously your going to be at least a little nervous while taking the test, but try and calm yourself down a little before the test. Take some deep breaths or just think to yourself, "I got this." If you practice driving enough and were practicing it correctly, it should come natural to you while taking your test. I think the reasons why people fail are: A) They just straight up are not ready to take the test because they have not had enough practice. B) Stupid little mistakes they make because they were over thinking things, causing them to miss others. All in all: Practice, practice, practice, try and stay calm, and drive how you normally would. P.S: Be friendly with your instructor before you take the test! It will calm you down and it will also leave them with a good impression. Good luck! :D

I'm taking my road test in 4 days. I'm so nervous, but I'm trying not to psych myself out. I'm 24 and have taken the road test 3 times, and still haven't passed. I need to get my license. It means that I can finally be independent and feel like a real adult. I'm praying that I pass, and can come back and say that I did it!
Lemons19902010 I'm working right now on a video about "relaxing for the exam". I can give you a few tips: 1- If you can, drive the same car at the exam that you drove when practicing. 2- Drive in the exam zone a few times before the exam. Usually the exam zone is in a radius of a few miles from the DMV. 3- Visualize the day before etc. Try not to be too nervous. Easier for me to say than for you to do, but remember, it's a driving exam. You're not going to the doctor to get the results for a test for cancer. Good Luck!
Lemons19902010 Lol my test is tomorrow. I'm 23 and I've failed the exam 2 times - once for bumping into the curb, the second time for bumping into the cone. And these both were for parallel parking. I hope I pass, if not, I'm going to have to book another appointment that might take 2 or more months. FML. Good luck though

My sister did the exam as well but failed because an old lady was passing a street and half way into the street she sees my sister coming up so she decides to go back to the street and let her pass ( maybe she was trying to be nice since she knows it was an exam) but my sister insisted her to pass but the old lady still insisted her to pass, so my sister did and the evaluator failed her because of "courtoisie".
I have to take the Driver's test tomorrow. I was very stressed, but after watching your video, it put a lot of things into perspective and I'm not as frazzled. I like how there was a camera inside of the car. I'm going to keep watching this until I feel better. Merci!

@Panorea Kay. The speed limits are always changing according to the vicinity. In that boulevard where I was going at 60, the speed limit is 60. Watch carefully and you'll see a sign somewhere. By the way, you should always try to stay as close to the speed limits when possible, meaning don't go too fast, but don't go too slow either. Both of these situations can fail you.

Well, if you want to do it by the book, you're supposed to do a mirrors and blind spot (M-BS) before your flasher, then another one. That's what they call the RACRA in french (rétroviseur-angle mort-clignotant-rétroviseur-angle mort). I've been teaching my students for years to do just one (flasher then mirrors and blind spot), and I've never had any comments about someone having failed because they didn't do the first M-BS, and they have a very high success rate at the exam.

I'm 20, and just started with studying since a little past midnight when it hit April First. I started with just a manual, but decided to do a mix, of the book, free practice tests, and now watching video's. This is pretty helpful, although I read everything it's always best for myself to read, and hear it from others, to be sure I am right! ~ Thank you
Very informative videos. I had my niece watch a lot of them. She took her test at the King Drive DMV on the South East side of Chicago and passed with only one bad mark: not hitting a turn signal off a residential street. The testing time can vary, but the average testing time was no longer than 15 mins. When u count the time you spend waiting at lights etc, its much shorter. It testing couldve been much longer, but when the DMV is SUPER packed, they dont waste tons of time per customer. She didnt have to parallel park. Simple 90 degree frontal park into the parking lot after it was over. She had to back out a alley, pull over to the side of the road and answer a uphill/downhill question, make some simple turns etc. But it was VERY simple. The school she went to also knew all the routes that they use at the DMVs around Chicago, so that was also a big plus.
Unfortunately, my brothers insurance didn't have an expiration date on it but they could've called the insurance company and asked. Which was a waste of time! So the lady told me I couldn't take it! So next week, I'm going again and I'll keep you updated.

I drove for the second time during my driving exam today, I felt really confident, although the instructor had me follow his exact rules which kind’ve distracted me today but I honestly feel as though if I needed to drive a car at this very second anywhere I feel comfortable!! Thank you for posting the video and it was good to hear so much defensive driving tips not just how to pass the test. I took the driving test in the UK and all I was taught was how to pass, my father then taught me HOW to drive. The insurance for my first car cast more than the car, but the company would give a discount if I passed the Advanced Driver course, the instructors are mainly police drivers who have taken the police advanced drivers course which is even more difficult than the course I took. One item was to follow at speed the instructor on a water flooded skid pan course, both cars on bald tyres. The best student then had to follow the instructor around the same course but the instructor was driving in reverse. I have noticed in the Dashcam videos that US drivers love the horn and blow it for any reason, so the warning effect is now lost. I was taught to ease off the gas and cover the brake pedal and the 9 out of 10 times the problem just goes away. Blow the horn and then the can of worms is opened and all kinds of reactions can happen. Keep up the good work and your students will be excellent drivers, this they can pass onto others especially their children. Thanks and stay safe.

I'm 20, and just started with studying since a little past midnight when it hit April First. I started with just a manual, but decided to do a mix, of the book, free practice tests, and now watching video's.
This is pretty helpful, although I read everything it's always best for myself to read, and hear it from others, to be sure I am right!

Very informative videos. I had my niece watch a lot of them. She took her test at the King Drive DMV on the South East side of Chicago and passed with only one bad mark: not hitting a turn signal off a residential street.
The testing time can vary, but the average testing time was no longer than 15 mins. When u count the time you spend waiting at lights etc, its much shorter. It testing couldve been much longer, but when the DMV is SUPER packed, they dont waste tons of time per customer.
She didnt have to parallel park. Simple 90 degree frontal park into the parking lot after it was over. She had to back out a alley, pull over to the side of the road and answer a uphill/downhill question, make some simple turns etc. But it was VERY simple. The school she went to also knew all the routes that they use at the DMVs around Chicago, so that was also a big plus.
i hope i can pass my first time no one in my family has so im nervous i hope this helps im testing tomarrow

Unfortunately, my brothers insurance didn't have an expiration date on it but they could've called the insurance company and asked. Which was a waste of time! So the lady told me I couldn't take it! So next week, I'm going again and I'll keep you updated.

I have my test in exactly a month from today. I drove for the second time during my driving exam today, I felt really confident, although the instructor had me follow his exact rules which kind’ve distracted me today but I honestly feel as though if I needed to drive a car at this very second anywhere I feel comfortable!! I really hope I pass on the first try.

Thank you for posting the video and it was good to hear so much defensive driving tips not just how to pass the test. I took the driving test in the UK and all I was taught was how to pass, my father then taught me HOW to drive.
The insurance for my first car cast more than the car, but the company would give a discount if I passed the Advanced Driver course, the instructors are mainly police drivers who have taken the police advanced drivers course which is even more difficult than the course I took. One item was to follow at speed the instructor on a water flooded skid pan course, both cars on bald tyres. The best student then had to follow the instructor around the same course but the instructor was driving in reverse.
I have noticed in the Dashcam videos that US drivers love the horn and blow it for any reason, so the warning effect is now lost. I was taught to ease off the gas and cover the brake pedal and the 9 out of 10 times the problem just goes away. Blow the horn and then the can of worms is opened and all kinds of reactions can happen.
Keep up the good work and your students will be excellent drivers, this they can pass onto others especially their children. Thanks and stay safe.
