It's difficult because they are all outstanding tries, your either voting for a team try or an individual contribution. For a team try for me you'd have to vote for either the Roberts try or houggards one. For individual contribution try, there's only one winner Jonny May, I'm keen Gloucester supporter so I know what he's capable of, but if he brings that to international rugby as a flair player, he'd easily be in the top 3 best in the world, possibly even number one. Hard choice as I've already said, each one is a deserved winner.
If its individual brilliance you want then it has to go to May otherwise for a solid team try it has to go to Hougaard because the position the Boks were in they had no right to break out past the All Blacks and did it with absolute flair
The Hougaard one was class, but It doesn't get my vote because of the forward pass in the lead up to it. It feels wrong for it to be given with that. My vote goes to Hendricks.
Hulihuli 'o e Vaotamanu The Wales and England tries shouldn't be there they could probably have added a try by Savea or the Read/Mccaw crossfield kick but the winner for me is still between the other 3.
reubinskee yea..... but Johnny May found a perfect line through the strongest defending side in Rugby, smoking his way practically untouched, past two of the Ab's key Defenders... from bloody nowhere.
Sometimes I think the context of the game is important, like who you are playing. It's harder to call any try against Scotland 'try' of the year because Scotland are a relatively poor team. When May or Hougaard score against the All Blacks, you know it's going to have to be either very well worked or a sublime piece of individual skill. Maybe I'm being cynical, but I just don't see Harvey's try making it into the top 5 tries of the year if it wasn't a woman. Good pace and a good step, but aren't these tries 10 to a penny in the men's game?
... Come on... They're at almost the bottom of the pile in world rankings when you look at teams who play in one of the 2 main tournaments. They have been consistent wooden spoon 6 nation contenders alongside 14th place Italy for as long as I can remember. In relative terms, they are poor.
How about Reinach's try vs England? Lambie chip over the top, le Roux gathers, draws both of the two remaining defenders, then offloads out of the back of the hand to Reinach who runs it in. How about that?
That 1 pommy commentator who can never believe it when england, or the lions, score a skilled try.....whats going on here.....what is the captain doing.....etc
***** Ok, What about the winning tries to win against Ireland and Australia? I think those tries are AWSOME because they won the games on those TRIES. These tries weren't that "AWESOME".

They should make a category one for best team try and other for individual brilliance
Magali Harvey Try was INSANE
hougaard or hendricks because are the more complete action

Spot on.
Hougaard's was probably the best, great to see women's rugby in there too!
Jonny may is well quick
All great team tries, but for an individual effort has to be Magali Harvey........
I keep thinking that the offload from Cornal to Hougaard was forward. How so?
The Hougaard one was class, but It doesn't get my vote because of the forward pass in the lead up to it. It feels wrong for it to be given with that. My vote goes to Hendricks.
that girls' try is awesome!
I agree
Hougaard wins it for me, but all the tries that are nominated this year are great.
what about the Abs current world champ,Bledisloe cup holder & winner of Rugby champion 4 nation 2014.
Nothing to do with scoring great tries
Hulihuli 'o e Vaotamanu The Wales and England tries shouldn't be there they could probably have added a try by Savea or the Read/Mccaw crossfield kick but the winner for me is still between the other 3.
Cybernum2
why because their not southern hemisphere teams?
Nicholas King
and South Africa isn't....hahahhh
Hulihuli 'o e Vaotamanu I was responding to Cybernum2 about how he thinks the Welsh and English try should not be counted in this list
I think Johnny May's try was the best. He made it on his own. He took the gap and outran his opponents. Good one.
Harvey from Canada ran twice the distance and bet 3 players, obviously not the same quality opponents but thats not what is being looked at.
reubinskee This is his opinion.
reubinskee

This is one of my absolute favourite videos on the whole of youtube! #BokBefok
For me it has to be either hougaard or hendricks
It's got to be Roberts or Hougaard
Tough, id go either Hougaards or Mays tries.
Even being a South African, I think the Harvey and May tries were better.
Anyways, all great tries!

Scotland are not a relitevaly poor team

GoldenbanjoDJ I have to agree with you there, and I'm a Scot. This years six nations result showed that.
How about Reinach's try vs England? Lambie chip over the top, le Roux gathers, draws both of the two remaining defenders, then offloads out of the back of the hand to Reinach who runs it in. How about that?
I say the best try was Francois Hoggard against All Blacks is IRPA try of the 2014
Johnny May
ryan crotty's try vs Ireland should be here
Lekker Bokkke....Hougie for the award !
Johnny may
shouldnt u guys have waited till the whole autumn series was over ? makes no sense
How about that forward pass from South Africa.
Luke Hill Offside for sure buddy.
Luke Hill Mate I've played rugby for many years, I know a foward pass when I see one.
Jonny May's
1.Jamie Roberts
not biased? great team try though, from a great team!
Harvey!
hendriks or roberts
Go Magali! St FX alum player!
Francois Hougaard for South Africa against All Blacks . Fantastic team try against the best opposition in the world.
I wood vote for that girls try
have the home nations got any coaches of there own lol
Some good ones but I saw some better ones this year.
Hendricks!
Magali not only ran 90 yards but then kisked the convert from a tough angle. Any NFL player who ran 90 yards would be thaking oxygen! LOL!
It will be the Englishman.
May
2:00 An All Black lazy runner? Really? Well I never...
Hougaard
No nominations for any All Black tries? Are you serious? Julian Savea alone has scored some better than a lot of these....
That is totally right
hendricks
That 1 pommy commentator who can never believe it when england, or the lions, score a skilled try.....whats going on here.....what is the captain doing.....etc
Why is there no Try's nominated for the WORLD CHAMPS!!! ALL BLACKS!!! Total BS
***** Ok, What about the winning tries to win against Ireland and Australia? I think those tries are AWSOME because they won the games on those TRIES. These tries weren't that "AWESOME".
Siua Nisa No they weren't
Siua Nisa Ireland was last year. Australia was just relentless battering at the line till Fekitoa got through.
somanytakennames A relentless battering try that WON the GAME!!!! Those have more meaning that those others there.
Siua Nisa Well if this was a 'meaningful try' competition, then yes that would probably take the cake.
Stop moaning
Sour New Zealanders everywhere in these comments.
NZ are a fantastic rugby nation but have possibly the worst set of fans. Lack any sort of humility or grace unlike the team they support.
go the all blacks we all know whos number 1 coach of the year should of went ireland another kiwi
HAHAHA no All Blacks!! Coz the All Blacks play boring rugby!! Good job IRB
none of them were that great
Jonny may was the worst
