Guy Clark flies under our radar as one of the more unappreciated poet laureates in modern American music history. his lyrics, his gravelly tone, and his unique style of picking weaved a tapestry of prophetic prose, and a treasure trove of music that altered the national consciousness with its seeming simplicity wrapped in layers of complex thoughts, introspections, feelings of love, anger, loneliness, and unrequited love. Guy, you are so dearly missed in this world of whatever garbage plays on Spotify, and is labeled as mainstream country music today. I hope you and Townes are somewhere in the ether playing a game of cards and laughing about what this world has become...PS, there is nothing worse at an intimate concert then some middle-aged drunk broad screaming the words to the song as one of the great American singer/songwriters of our time is attempting to perform.
One of the best gigs I was ever at was Guy in Galway in late 80s Made even better by the fact that the guest he brought on to do a few songs in the middle of the gig was John Prine. 2 legends.
Wow, that sounds like an amazing show - I love and miss John Prine too - Was fortunate enough to see him a few times, but the two of them on the same show is over the top!
