I think, the first time that he falls with Hwi was a lovesick but when he had hug by him(her) he knew that it a deep feeling with someone who depressed from inside too. Especially when it wasn't a dream that Hwi feels the same way to, he confessed with braved and confidently let go through this time. What a romantic and driven man!
He is so brave confessing like that, I mean man to man. And she is no ordinary man. Also I like The Swoon's name choices for these little scenes. It's like screenwriter's guideline for K drama romance 😜

What amazes me the most was how rational Jiun is in coming to terms with his feelings and gay identity. And he does not hesitate nor waver in putting his foot down and confessing his feelings in front of Hwi. He essentially came out to Hwi but it wasnt about himself, it was about his emotions and affection and feelings. And how he was determined amd willing to go all the way for and with Hwi. Now where is my irl Jiun?

Plus, Choi Byun-Chan is fantastic as the King bodyguard -- bravo to Director Song Hyun-Wook for this masterpiece...

I just binge watched LOVE IN THE MOONLIGHT and oh my God so many similarities with this drama. Love it, love it, love it, LOVE THEM ALL. Korea has handsome actors with good acting expressions. Kdrama is my new fave.
I've been waiting for another historical drama that can topple LITML from the top spot. A couple got close but the endings just barely fell short. This has potential but the back half will have to be superb.

She can trust him and tell him about her true identity if she can't accept his feelings atleast, in that way he atleast don't questions his identity as a men and this could atleast comfort him a bit that she trust him.
Don't worry Ji-un, Hwi will become the king and So-eun or Ha-kyung will become the queen then the queen will act as a beard so you and hwi can begin your fruity relationship.
The problem is that Hwi will still need to produce an heir with his queen or she and the queen will have a lot of trouble. The easiest way for that would be sharing her lover with the queen if the queen cooperates with Hwi after finding out about her gender. That way the queen could get pregnant without having to separately get a lover and facing the danger of getting caught as a cheater because the king would always have been present so for an outsider there is no chance the queen would have had an affair. Ironically Hyun would be the best candidate for fathering the child, because he is Hwi's cousin and therefore no one would suspect a thing if the child looked like him. The new crown prince woul technically also still have royal blood. Yeah I know - polygamy destroys most peoples romanticism about the series, but speaking of the point of view of granting the biggest chance of survival for everyone involved this would be the plan I'd go for.
@@misss7777 the plot you're talking about could happen in movies, in fact gay king asking his lover to impregnate his queen story is the plot of Frozen Flower😄, but this is TV drama and it's aired on KBS the most conservatives TV station out of big 3 TV stations so i doubt they will go this route. My guess is they're gonna adapt the ending of manhwa with a few changes.

I agree with you that they won't go down that route since this isn't produced by Netflix or any station that isn't obligated to keep it sexless... while still showing pretty violent murder scenes🙄 This was just my Idea on what I would do to keep myself alive and cover it up completly. And my idea of what a good plot for a book, film series or any media with that kind of story would be. To put it realistically - Hwi already killed people who found out about her secret out of pure necessity for her own survival. She is a tough, rational and hardened woman. Why would she not do the most rational thing of getting married and getting her wife pregnant by someone else to produce an heir? Just because the writers aren't allowed to do that. If they focused more on her instead of creating a love triangle in general and yes - if it wasn't produced by KBS - we could have gotten a way more interesting storyline. Though I must say that it still isn't a bad drama judging by the episodes that already are out, and the story is still very unpredictable (which I like).

If I put myself in his shoes, one day if I knew the king is not the person that I thought who he was, that will be hard and indeed painful. In reality, I don't think I can change my feelings to love her because the one that pulls my heart is not the real her, but the false identity that she carries; unless I actually knew who she is an pretend not to know... (sigh) oh well... whatever :D

The problem is that Hwi will still need to produce an heir with his queen or she and the queen will have a lot of trouble. The easiest way for that would be sharing her lover with the queen if the queen cooperates with Hwi after finding out about her gender. That way the queen could get pregnant without having to separately get a lover and facing the danger of getting caught as a cheater because the king would always have been present so for an outsider there is no chance the queen would have had an affair.
Ironically Hyun would be the best candidate for fathering the child, because he is Hwi's cousin and therefore no one would suspect a thing if the child looked like him. The new crown prince woul technically also still have royal blood.
Yeah I know - polygamy destroys most peoples romanticism about the series, but speaking of the point of view of granting the biggest chance of survival for everyone involved this would be the plan I'd go for.
@@misss7777 the plot you're talking about could happen in movies, in fact gay king asking his lover to impregnate his queen story is the plot of Frozen Flower😄, but this is TV drama and it's aired on KBS the most conservatives TV station out of big 3 TV stations so i doubt they will go this route. My guess is they're gonna adapt the ending of manhwa with a few changes.

I agree with you that they won't go down that route since this isn't produced by Netflix or any station that isn't obligated to keep it sexless... while still showing pretty violent murder scenes🙄
This was just my Idea on what I would do to keep myself alive and cover it up completly. And my idea of what a good plot for a book, film series or any media with that kind of story would be.
To put it realistically - Hwi already killed people who found out about her secret out of pure necessity for her own survival. She is a tough, rational and hardened woman. Why would she not do the most rational thing of getting married and getting her wife pregnant by someone else to produce an heir? Just because the writers aren't allowed to do that.
If they focused more on her instead of creating a love triangle in general and yes - if it wasn't produced by KBS - we could have gotten a way more interesting storyline.
Though I must say that it still isn't a bad drama judging by the episodes that already are out, and the story is still very unpredictable (which I like).

If I put myself in his shoes, one day if I knew the king is not the person that I thought who he was, that will be hard and indeed painful. In reality, I don't think I can change my feelings to love her because the one that pulls my heart is not the real her, but the false identity that she carries; unless I actually knew who she is an pretend not to know... (sigh) oh well... whatever :D
