- This video is a compilation of two weeks of drone footage I shot in the Norfolk Virginia area. Includes Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Newport News. Shot using a DJI Mavic Pro drone and edited using Final Cut Pro FCPX on an iMac.

Very nice presentation of Norfolk and surrounding areas! I have many memories there although I did not recognize much in the video. I am sure things have changed over the 30+ years I've been gone. I was stationed on several of the naval bases, lived in Norfolk and moved back home in 1984. I have been back a few times and it is still a beautiful "military" town. I am surprised that you can fly drones there with all the things that fly including NAS (Naval Air Station) and Norfolk Airport, etc. Thanks for sharing.
Good job putting together video. I picked up on the added bird/gull sounds and traffic, etc. Always good to have good subject matter. I liked your transition, however I think you used it too much, but still good. I travel to Norfolk each week for work and want to shoot a lot of the same spots you did. I have me M2P with me each trip and never pull it out. Going to do it one day really soon. I want to shoot around the Waterside area and get the tunnel, ships, etc. Looks like no restrictions that I could find until you hit the Class C, but still good below 100' AGL
Nice! We lived in Hampton Virginia 2017 and half of 2018 before moving back to Kentucky. We've been miserable since. We belong back to Buckroe beach!! If u live there people dont take it for granted. It's a gorgeous place with many opportunities for work and school! I miss southeast Virginia so bad its depressing to me.
I see you were flying near Rudy inlet, which I believe is in restricted airspace due to NAS, did you have to get special clearance to fly there?

Do you have to worry about being to close to any military airports?
You have to follow the FAA rules for drones which includes avoiding no-fly zones. There are several phone apps with maps that tell you where it is safe to fly. You must always stay below 400 feet which keeps you out of the path of most aircraft. Intelligent drones such as mine won't let you take off or fly into a restricted area. I've had a couple of close encounters with low flying military helicopters that were flying in random drone approved areas. That's a bit scary.
I enjoyed the video. The clips were pretty well composed and pleasant subject matter. White balance was off. If you have good video edition software, you should be able to rectify it.
First off, nice footage! Considering getting a drone and live in the HR area as well. Have you run into any issues with people giving you a hard time over flying in any of these locations?
I've had no problems. Most people are friendly curious and I enjoy explaining what I'm doing and showing them the controls and live feed. Of course you have to use good judgement and respect people's privacy if they are on private property.
Do you use any polarizers or ND filters on your Mavic?
