Simply wow!!! My favorite ship ever and you are doing an amazing job. I saw it come into Port in Seattle back in early 1990s and then visited several times with my family while mothballed in Bremerton Washington before it was transported to Hawaii. Keep up the great work. Thank you to all American who served in any of the branches over our 200+ years keeping us safe.
Fantastic as always Ben...it wasn't until you showed the last shots that you can appreciate the amount of work gone into the build so far...keep up the great work and you and your family stay safe
I like your work and all the detail. I have thought about buying this kit a few times. It's not the cost but the scale. I usually work in 1/24 or 1/35 and its harder for me to stay steady. So for now I will live through you and other great modelers. Thanks.
Thanks Chip! I know a lot of the work I do is microscopic. But if you build the kit out of the box (and it makes a very nice kit out of the box) it’s not so bad. Just food for thought.
@@TheMidwestModelShop glad you enjoyed it sorry about the weather that's normal I blame my ancestors for not being criminals and being transported to Australia and a warmer climate
Well, it was just cutting those little plastic pieces that you see and sticking them together. I didn't think it was very not worthy given the lack of detail they possessed.
Oh, the moment you mentioned gluing the windows with CA I wanted to shout. Don't Do it. As an RC Aircraft modeller we exclusively use Canopy Glue to prevent the fogging of the transparencies. Been following this build from Day 1 and its awesome. Also appreciate the length you went to given all of us who are self quarantined at the moment. keep the videos coming.
Yeah I guess I wasn't specific that I glued the "windows" in place with clear window glue. But the entire assembly has to be attached to the rest of the bridge with CA glue. I think the error was in installing the back door to the bridge. It prevented the fumes from easily escaping.
Unbelievable detailing... I've been on the New Jersey and I feel like I could walk around your model and see pretty much the same thing as the real ship.
I’m a long haul truck driver and out here on the road right now during these crazy time’s. It’s a little unnerving. But thanks to you and your really cool hobby I have something to take my mind off of it. Please try to finish it soon just Incase this is time critical for me lol.
Awesome mate keep up the good work , really look forward to your posts on here ,nice to sit down with a cold beer on a Friday night and watch your videos .
Well done sir!! The details are mind blowing. I'm looking forward to the next installment, this is going to be quite an impressive model when completed. Thank you for your sharing this with us. Stay safe.
Mine just came in the mail today and I’m so excited to get started and I’m gonna be using all of your videos of lessons along the way you’ve done an amazing job and I can’t wait to do mine
You're really making me want to dig out this kit and get working on it, but i have to try and resist to keep focused on my 1/200 Titanic XD. Great job as always.
Odorless, or "Foam Safe" CA glue does not fog clear parts. Bob Smith Industries (as well as other manufacturers) makes it, and it has a gold label. The black lid is medium, or gap filling, and the white lid is the thin. Be aware that it is twice as expensive, and goes bad very quickly. Buy the smallest amount you can, and keep it refrigerated when you aren't using it.
What a great video Ben, building the different levels and the details are so good. But when you put it all together, it looks amazing. I took your advice and stained the deck of my 1/700 Saratoga it came great. Thanks for your videos.
I did. That's how the clear parts were attached. The fogging came from attaching the PE part to the main part of the bridge structure. There were just enough fumes to cause a problem, despite the precautions taken.
I just did my bridge and I installed the transparency in three pieces as well but I didn’t glue it to the inside of the window pieces I glued larger or taller strips from the floor up on the inside to the height of the ceiling so it stands right behind the windows and looks great and did not flash at all
beautiful work! I myself am just getting back into model building, a pure amateur but still love doing it. One question of a million, where and how did you learn such detailed work?
Excellent progress Ben. On the inside of the bridge is the ceiling the only part that’s white? Also when the time comes to rigging can you make a detailed video where all the rigging is anchored? I cannot seem to find any detailed rigging pictures/blueprints. Keep up the good work and stay safe. George.
Yes, I'll show that. But its probably going to by my "best guess". What I did on the AZ was find the resources that I could and extrapolated what should go where. So I'll do the best that I can on this one.
Two things you could add once it’s almost complete that would be cool or funny. First thing you could add would be the table and chairs on the deck where the Japanese signed the treaty that ended WWII. World of Warships has it on the ship as an Easter egg not sure if you noticed that since you mentioned that you have one in your port. Second thing that you could add which I think it’s more of a funny gig is adding a cook on the ship as a reference to the movie Under Siege where Steven Segal retakes control of the Missouri from terrorists. (This is more of a funny gig again. I still see the first option more viable.) Completely unrelated to the ship building but I finally finished grinding out the Russian Cruiser line now I’m almost done with the Russian Battleships and I’ll continue on with the Japanese Battleships and destroyers. Maybe if I have it in me I’ll finish out the U.S. Cruisers.
Well I always weigh that. And maybe I didn’t do a good job of showing it in the video but you can see it when you’re in front of it. Also, it took about 15 minutes to scratch build that’s stuff. So no big deal.
No, I wasn't planning on it because "everyone" has done an open box review. However, my wife, who is the person who really was interested in the model, may do one so you'll just have to stay tuned.
i enjoy this series. but would you be so kind as to lower the intro volume. the intro is very loud compared to the rest of the video. but man i cant wait to see the main guns getting built
Ahoy landlubber! Ceiling = overhead, floor = deck. Awesome build.

You said it.....Its looking awesome!! You really do great work......

Amazing detail...Only thing I'd point out is the shape of the kit pelorus...
Just Amazing!!!.👍👍👏👏
love all the detail your adding ,keep up the good work many thanks from the uk
Thanks! Hope things are okay over there! I really enjoyed my visit a few weeks ago despite the storms!
@@TheMidwestModelShop glad you enjoyed it sorry about the weather that's normal I blame my ancestors for not being criminals and being transported to Australia and a warmer climate
Outstanding. I wish that you would have done a detailed build of the scratch build.
Well, it was just cutting those little plastic pieces that you see and sticking them together. I didn't think it was very not worthy given the lack of detail they possessed.
Very very nice! Good job!
Thank you very much!
This is really coming together well. Your attention to detail in reproducing the WW2 vintage of the ship is marvelous. Thanks
Fantastic!!!👍👍👍👍

Awesome job
Thanks for the review

Absolutely amazing work, Ben. Cheers!
It's been so long!. But you pulled it out men.
Nice build thanks for sharing
Loving this build. You're doing an amazing job.
Stay well everyone.
She looks great! Just the pick me up I needed after a very long week in work
Impressive!!
Awesome progress dude. Hope you stay safe and healthy.
Been following this project from the beginning and enjoying every minute of it.Keep up the great work!
Looks stunning

Another great video. Thank you for posting.
Loving this series. It's really coming together. Very impressive work.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Looking great. So much detail.
It's a lot.
The Midwest Model Shop what psi do you use
ESU WARRIOR MODEL SHOP I’m running at 15psi I believe. I just delude the paint to the consistency of skim milk.
That just looks fantastic! Excellent job!
Saw your Titanic in the background on the floor. LOL It will be amazing to see you do this kind of a series with that kit. Awesome work sir!!!
As the superstructure is added, this thing is getting *BIG* and more imposing with each episode. It's going to look amazing when it's done.
Been great following the build. Really looking forward to the main batteries.
Amazing.
Really great work. Love how she's coming together.💙
Lookin sharp!!!
Don’t forget the wheel!

For clear parts, instead of super glue, use Kristal Klear. It dries clear and doesn't fog. It's a lot like Elmer's glue.
I did. That's how the clear parts were attached. The fogging came from attaching the PE part to the main part of the bridge structure. There were just enough fumes to cause a problem, despite the precautions taken.
@@TheMidwestModelShop Oh. Gotcha! I missed that part.
When this is finished you should make a resin water diorama for it
Ghost Knifer TKO yeah......I’m not there yet. Planning on putting this on a base like the Arizona.
looking awesome Ben, nice job, Mighty Mo will be a nice piece when it is done, along with the Arizona you built.
The oval shaped section is known as the citadel. It is the most heavily armored area of the ship. And a very cramped area to work in.
great job so far on this , looks amazing .

beautiful work! I myself am just getting back into model building, a pure amateur but still love doing it. One question of a million, where and how did you learn such detailed work?
I just started adding “extra” things here and there over the years. Eventually, you have a skill set that makes a lot of things easy to figure out.

The "as-built" plans, which were approved in 1948, do show the 2 whip antennas. You can download the BB 63 plans from maritime.org/doc/plans/
The conning tower doors are backwards in the instructions.
How did you glue the transparent sheets?
Are you going to do a review on trumpeters Titanic model kit?
No, I wasn't planning on it because "everyone" has done an open box review. However, my wife, who is the person who really was interested in the model, may do one so you'll just have to stay tuned.
The Midwest Model Shop well im a big Titanic fan and I love to see a review. Love your work, its amazing!
Nice job,I look how you have added the extra detail. What is the cost of a model like that and do you ship models through the mail.
Hey David, I don’t own a model shop. It’s just the name of my channel. I live in the Midwest and the model shop is where I build them.
Fantastic. KUTGW :)
Why not add the figures to the bridge in addition to the scratch built chairs?
There’s going to be figures.
Deck has a face :)
Air Force chairs!!!!! Lmao.
I never use CA on Windows. I use clear latex caulk.
i enjoy this series. but would you be so kind as to lower the intro volume. the intro is very loud compared to the rest of the video. but man i cant wait to see the main guns getting built
Yeah I can try and do that.
: ))))
