Back in 2013 My wife was dealing with a local dealer to buy me a Rolex Submariner Oystersteel and yellow gold with a blue face and dial. 2 days before she was going to buy it I was in a fairly serious work accident that has left me with a permanent disability. I went from making $75,000 - $80,000 per year to $11,000 per year. I told her not to buy it as my kids and wife comes first. It was always her dream to buy me a Rolex. She recently passed away from cancer at 54 years old. She was still dreaming of buying me one even as she took her last breath. Now owning a Rolex just isn't important anymore. Hang on to what is important. Material things just are not important anymore.
Great content as always. It would be good if you could have more focused and close up videos on the watches for a longer duration so we can have a closer view of the watches. :)
If you had to choose between a Rolex Batman and a Rolex DJ41 motif dial which one would you go for ?

What do you think about a tag heuer? Looking to get a aquaracer as my first watch.
I’d never pay above retail for a watch. In fact, I’d haggle with the ad or look pre owned to have it for 20-30% off sticker price. Rolex is out of it’s mind and so are the morons paying so much above retail.
“Wearing a reverso with a tux. This is a vibe, this is something new…” haha you gotta be kidding me. It’s a dress watch man. Like, I love the show, but please just stop hahaha. Literally the least new thing I can think of in watch fashion. It’s tight that Jay Z opened your eyes to reversos, but he literally just wore it the way most people wear it-only he’s cool AF.
The most associated with military watches is Breitling, avenger ,colts emergency and Aerospace. From Generals,CIA, Warlords,Private military and special forces. Big L how you guys left Breitling out of this list, with Icons like Navitimer or Super oceans.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Grand Seiko is the favorite watch brand I own. The fact that some under play them a bit is why I love them. True watch fans know! But GS’s presence in the world has definitely been raising as of late! I was in a dark club in Scottsdale and had a dude come up to me to compliment my GS. Pretty cool moment imo
I’m very happy with my Seiko ssc813, would love to up it to a GS!

The luxury watch industry today is a complete and total snow job! Anybody that spends $10,000 on a mechanical watch should have their head examined.
Excellent suggestions and I enjoyed the focus on value watches. Like to see you do another on under $5,000 and also $10-15,000.
I like the style of this one way more than the flashy 'grey market' videos you were doing in 2021. Solid info and as others have mentioned, with about $700 and some waiting you can have Rolex service, refinish, and box up your purchase. I had the Santos 100 on bracelet which was a heavy beast - the one you have on a strap with deployant is a great way to go.

And it is a conversation that is more interesting to me because I might end up actually buying one of these watches whereas I'm never going to own something like a rainbow Daytona. Although I also enjoy the discussions of the crazy expensive watches but more as entertainment than practicality from my perspective.

just a recommendation, if the watches are placed on the watch stand. try to have a shot of the watch showing the watch/dial closer up. It makes it easier for others to visually know what it is.

Great video! I love Rolex but it's always nice to see other brands as well. It's also nice to see watches that people buy for the love of collecting and wearing instead of as an investment.
watches are not investments, it's a poor mans investment game for 99% of people. invest in real estate if you have real money, you won't stress as much :)

10k really is a mental barrier for some. I had two major spending rules when I started collecting. One was that the total of money spent on my collection couldn't exceed a certain number. My second was, IF I ever spent five figures on a watch, I could only do it once. I completed my collection in October with my last piece, the only one I went five figures for. I didn't break either rule.
So what is your five figure purchase?

I have the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968. It is an exquisite diver’s watch with 3 beautifully finished crowns, a doomed plexiglass crystal, internal rotating bezel, quick set date and the cherry on the cake is it’s mechanical alarm which sounds like the old school bells. And it was limited to 768 pieces. Awesome ! To me the alarm is so much more useful in the real life than a chronograph, a rattrapante, moonphases, etc… and I used it for years to wake up in the morning.
Best under $10k video on UA-cam. Some unique selections and non-obvious choices in here, and a diverse set of brand and style. Would love to see another one!
buy what you like and buy what you will wear with pride. For me- Tissot and Omega 007 and arnie. Tissot everyday, arnie for roughing it up and Omega for those special events.

If we take a look at the volume/inventory of Rolex in the grey market vs Cartier watches. People keep their Cartier. I just started being interested in mechanical watches in the past 2 weeks. So Ive watched about 200 videos to get up to speed on the hobby. So boring. Ignoring different colors and sizes, they all talk about the same 50 or so watches over and over. Fuck Rolex, its dull and make a million mass produced units a year. The interesting ones like Mille and Jacob are a half million dollars which is ridiculous. I thought it would be fun but its super lame so far.

I just picked up a breitling avenger II combat night mission damn near new for $$2550 retail in $5300. I love giant watches I’m 6’2” tall 225 lbs.
Love the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso one of my favorite watches, my grandpa wore his in WW2 😅 we took it apart and he taught me how to fix it and other watches when I was a kid and when he saw I was so interested in watches and how they worked and the amazing complexity of it. It was gifted to me as a young adult and when he passed I put it on him and he was buried with it.

Somebody needs to start pushing back on stainless steel watches selling for over 2.5k. I have no problem with watches with cases made of more noble metals selling for higher prices. They have intrinsic worth. Stainless steel watches are dime a dozen and don't need to be expensive like they are right now. Enough of this madness.

Love the channel. Let’s say I wanted to purchase a Rolex that was made during a specific Month & Year, what info would I be looking for? Is it a specific serial number? Model numbers?
Is it possible to get even more specific, looking for a watch that was made on an exact day/month/year?

Very open question! It really depends on the year. Rolex scrambled their serial numbers so you can’t tell the year in later models…getting a specific month is a bit too specific. Earlier models you can pinpoint the year only by serial number. You’ll have to look online for the years your looking for. However, all is not lost! Rolex’s with box and papers will have the month and year of purchase. You could look for the Rolex model you like and hunt for one with papers that was purchased in the month you want. Sorry it’s not the answer you hoped for.

I love my Santos! I bought it because his history, the first wirst watch in the world (1904). The Cartier Santos is for me the first modern watch. Patek, Vacheron, Breguet etc., are older brands, but Cartier made the first wirst watch, the first sport watch, the first aviation watch, all in one in that Santos Dumont. All modern watches are Santos "replicas"!
