Very funny, we use the metric system for our measurements. A gallon we also don’t use we use liters when we go buying fuel for our cars.
Sometimes I don’t understand the American way.

One of the best things you do Steve is cover a wide range of component prices. It really helps to show people that being an audiophile does not mean you have to be wealthy to have great sound. Keep it up 👍

It’s nice to see equipment that the average guy can buy that gives audiophile quality sound. I have owned high end stuff before but found happiness in my $600 system. AVRX2500H Denon receiver for $300 And $250 Elac B6.2 speakers. To all young enthusiasts out there : Don’t get discouraged by the prices on most stuff! You can be happy with low priced stuff if you buy it right and pick the right pieces. Get Happy! It’s the very best of times for new audiophiles. Never been better.

Buy Emotiva with confidence. Very good customer service. My ERC 3 CD player (now discontinued - has HDCD decoding for my many HDCDs) needed drawer repair. Technician communicated regularly with progress reports and went the extra step of running it a little longer to be sure it was right. Turns out it wasn't so additional work was completed. Buy Emotiva with confidence.

Steve cant be more accurate, a good speaker can sound great with the right electronics. I've had the same speakers for 17 years, Infinity Interlude suite and I started out with a Denon avr and the sound was good. Then I upgraded to a Rotel pre-amp processor and a Carver av705x power amp. Those good speakers sounded great, detail, imagining, depth were all improved. Last year I did an upgrade of my pre-amp to a Marantz av7005. Just when I thought I had just upgraded features, the sound just took on a new life. Wow

Great review, Steve. You're in good company when you say leave upgrading your speakers last is the way to go. For those much younger than I, there once was a chap called Ivor Tiefenbrun, who founded a company in Glasgow in the seventies to make turntables. In his world, for £500, you put his £330 Linn LP12 turntable with an £80 amp, you know the one, and a pair of £70 speakers. Sounds crazy, but most people who experienced it agreed it was better than the £100 turntable plus £200 amp and speaker combo.

Extra kudos for the Bang on a Can Eno's Music for Airports cover. It's brilliant. Yes, go ahead and listen to it. It's worth it.
One of the reasons why I trust Steve's reviews is because he talks no nonsense but things we can hear in actual recorded music and how the equipment revealed or not those aspects of the recording. Well, he is THE audiophiliac. ;-)

Love it when you enjoy entry level equipment. It was my favorite when I worked in a HiFi store. We'd get everybody's entry level or less expensive stuff & mix & match & see what we could come up with. Even more fun was playing overachiever, put a pair of K-horns, Belle Klipsch, laScala and finally Heresy's on cheaper & cheaper equipment until you hit something amazing. We'd shock customers with an NAD 3020 or 7020 (late 1970's models) and Klipsch speakers. Sometimes they'd make us show them that they were really connected, they couldn't believe what a true 20/watts per channel could do. More entry level reviews please, turntables, cartridges, integrated amps, receivers various electronics........

I'm glad you mentioned the hard rock at the end. I want a great speaker for Led Zeppelin. Would you say Klipsch is the best for that genre of music?

    1) Why don't manufacturer's use more solid wood, such as pine? Pine can sound REALLY good and I can't imagine it's that much more expensive than say, HDF/MDF (2) How do these compare to the T1+? Do the T1+ justify the price difference? I have a had time believing in 5.25 drivers, my 2 small sons and I LOVE to rock out. We have the most varied palette which is why I am considering the emotivas to begin with.... I am currently using Yamaha NSA636 which at least blow the BOSE bookshelves away that I was using before... and a 10" KLH sub for now until I upgrade. Using a HarmonKardon receiver for now.
