I have a friend from Saudi Arabia that showed me a black paste made of dry limes and you mixed it with water and sugar and you get a wonderful lemonade, best ever! Can I make it with your powder recipe?
I only just learned of Black Lime yesterday as it was an ingredient in my new favorite beer. I will be making my own black limes as soon as good limes are available locally. I will try the oven method while the weather is still somewhat on the cold side and the sun method this Summer. Thank you for your video. Hello from Utah, USA.
Thank you so much!!! Today I have learnt how to make something *NEW* I have always been curious about how dried limes taste in food. Now I'm only a few steps away from discovering this. Ahsante.
Thank you, I live in Malaysia and love to cook Arabic cuisine, before this I had to buy black lime in some middle eastern grocery shops and it's pretty expensive since it was imported......
Im always looking for natural spices this looks great. Can I use lemons that already dried out ? And how long do they last (shelf life) or refrigerador?
The reason why I put in boiled water is to blanch them to make them soft and remove bitterness and we put in ice cold water to stop from making them too soft its basically controlling the temperature
To make tea Do we add boiling water to 1tsp black lime powder? Or first put in water until boils then simmer for 15mts means for black tea we have to make decoction? Or just infuse by pouring boiling water on 1tsp dry powder in a cup
Hi. Thank you, I'm going to try this. How do you store them and how long do they last? Also, when would you used dried lime rather than just fresh limes? Thank you so very much
I just store them in a plastic bag or container they last for a long time. There are specific middle eastern and Persian recipes that use these lemon but you can always experiment
Thanks for the video under a wonderful banner. I was hunting for a long time to know the trick behind processing of black lemon. I tried following your instructions in the video, but sadly, the lemons I have used has shrinked but the color is still yellow. Any guess what went wrong?
Thank you for watching, if the colour is still yellow that means they need more sun sometimes it may take longer may be the lemons were too juicy so the liquid has to dehydrate.
@@aromaofzanzibar Thanks for your time replying my query. I'll try under the sun for few more days as you suggested. What intrigues me is that still the color is adamant to change. I'll keep you informed if I get to it. Good day and keep posting....

The salt is here is really optional not a concentrated brine as such so you can use as much or as little as you want. I used 1 and 1/2 Tbl which is sufficient for what I needed it for.

I also usually simmer limoo omaani in the khoresht, then remove when soft, and purée with a little water in blender before returning to the khoresht.
