    I am so glad I found your channel. All dead malls channels are retail documentaries. You have mastered the art of enfolding factual information into a seamless story telling narrative, punctuated by nearly poetic impressions of how the mall makes you feel. They all leave me feeling like I was actually there. Simply brilliant!

    Kristin, I'm glad that you're back making videos the way you normally do. It is also great that you begin to film the "not-so-dead" malls, as me and most of our 2020 audience seem to demand "more than just dead malls", but RETAILING IN GENERAL since the Pandemic has put it in a state of transformation, which we want to see (and influence to some extent) what becomes of it...
    I KNOW you're going to get "a kick out of it".

      If it has an interesting story and is visually interesting, I'm less concerned about it being empty--I want to make videos that are enjoyable to watch.
      Thank you very much for watching!

    This is my hometown mall, as I grew up in Dublin. It's sad to see it turn into a "second rate" mall, as it was the go to Mall competing with Polaris and Easton, but about 10 years ago dropped off, as the other two kept growing and updating and snatching up higher end stores, leaving Tuttle with the scraps.
    Also, it's pretty crazy to see that there are some stores in their that have been operating since it opened, like Helizberg Diamonds, Spencer's, Lids(was Hat Zone until Lids bough them) and a few others.

      The problem is, at the anchors anyway, that staff are limited and what are there, don't care. This other lady and me were trying to check out at JCP. The employee ignored us until I finally asked her if I could check out there. She said they're closed. The lady behind me said that the other register (at the other end of the store) was also closed. I went to the jewelry counter and asked the man there where to check out. He pointed to the vacant register where the other customer had been and said that it was indeed open. So we both go there and finally the employee there shows up. Of course then the pants ring up full price. I told her they're 30% off. She put in the discount - I'm sure the price was still wrong so I just gave up on it. I should have gotten them after all of that, but I had just enough cash for what the price on the little sign had said, and I can't justify it when I can get BETTER PANTS on Amazon shipped to my house for less. I can only imagine the theft that goes on in these two anchors if Macy's is as bad. That's what's sinking the mall further and further into debt.

    i so wish that you owuld have been able to see that sears when it was still open... it was really weird. first and foremost, it had a level two entrance and a level one entrance, much like that JCPenny's does. the sears also had this weirdly long hallway on the upper floor to go to the bathroom just passed the electronics section. it was where the defunct optical and photo studio was, down a long winding hallway, past the stockroom, past the management offices, past the breakroom, and then finally the women's bathroom. and if you wanted the drinking fountains or the men's bathroom, it was down the hall and around the corner. it was a five minute walk from the main store to the bathroom. miss that place.

    Great video. Let me check you on one thing, that 18 minute drive time between Tuttle and Polaris? Maybe in the middle of the night - the traffic between N Hilliard (really where this mall is located) and Westerville is a NIGHTMARE. I moved away from my home town in the mid-'00s and can't imagine the N outer belt has gotten any better. On another note, perhaps you could dive into the smaller "neighborhood" indoor malls of Columbus. Is Worthington Square Mall still open? I know Scarborogh Mall in Brice closed in the 90s (what a short-lived but brilliant mall of the late 80s), or perhaps the grandmother of malls in Columbus, Town & Country - great history there (outdoor I know, but how is it doing?). As a mallrat in the '80s (Eastland was my 2nd home) having a COTA bus pass was perfect for mall hopping all over cowtown. I worked at City Center in the early '90s and Tuttle is a near carbon copy architecturally to that mall. Keep up the good work and good luck with the channel!

    • @UniCommProductions
      @UniCommProductions  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching Jeff! The Shops at Worthington are still alive and kicking, the mall on Brice Rd has since become Lindsey Honda, and New Market Mall is a school now--when I was up that way I drove around it but there are some obvious concerns about filming around a place where kids are so I didn't get any footage...When I was in town, traffic wasn't too bad but it was around noon on a weekday so I can imagine rush hour being pretty awful (it always seems like I get stuck in it when I go up to the state fair).

    I loved your Cincinnati series, I grew up there and lived close to Forest Fair, so it was a big nostalgia trip for me. Now I live outside of Columbus and we frequently go to Tuttle. We got to check out Scene75 right before the pandemic, and it was actually pretty fun.

    Hey there, I went to this mall before as well as Easton and Polaris. As of a couple months ago, Polaris Mall was on the news due to a gun being seen. Its parent's company had gone into bankruptcy. As for Easton, it is growing more and more with new buildings and eateries being added.

    Great video, the mall looks really nice and clean on the inside but the parking lot looks very run down. I recently picked up something from pottery barn and was surprised about the condition of the parking lot. I don’t know when you filmed this but with the low number of people walking around, I don’t know how the stores pay the rent to stay in there. I love the commentary you provide with the history of the mall.

    Love this. It reminds me of International Plaza in Tampa. I had to check, and it was in fact a Taubman mall as well. It was built in 2001, and is still high end. The architecture is almost exactly the same. It took business away from the 53 year old Westshore Mall, and was the final nail in the epic DeBartolo mall, TampaBay Center Mall. There is also Citrus Park Mall to the north about 10 miles away. It was built in 1999, and is mid market with Macy’s, Dillard’s etc but no high end stores.

    spot on with your story. Dublin was a different kinda place. One minute it's a cool average to above average place.You had to look like the vibe.A block away it was so uptight everything sqeeked. I'd love to see what's left of the surrounding area restaurants smaller shopping centers those were usually the tougher jobs and some we're doa and never really got going. Just asking have you seen Tower city and Galleria at Erieview Cleveland. Just asking I know it’s Dead malls or going out of business malls but after a while you must get tired of seeing that. Like this video of this mall it’s nice looking and looks like it’s still busy at least that’ll cheer you up instead of walking through a dead hallway. I like Tower city one section in that mall where when you look out through the window you can see downtown Cleveland vehicles going over the road and then you look down and the mall goes down underneath the road.

      Then two places is nice. The only reason why I know well actually for 14 years I was a delivery driver in eastern Ohio so I got to see a lot of things Brown Stadium tower city Gallery at review problem is is I know that state better than my own. But when you’re in that state seven days a week making deliveries it’s kind a hard to get to know your own state.
