John, thank you for showing how to make a quick splice of serving on cable in a west spot. It happens on string and cable stop contact. So works for sure. Thanks so much!!

Great work on the video! Thanks for taking the time and explaining proper serving technique, was a great refresher for those of us that don't do this often. I successfully patched up my crossbow string center serving outer layer that had broken so it will be a reliable back up once my new factory bowstring arrives and we get it installed.

My serving on my cable broke and looks like it could quickly unravel. The area doesn’t touch cam when drawn or let down but it is close to the loop on the end (maybe 1 inch away). Do I need to get that re-served before shooting, or is there some other kind of fix?

I have a cut string on my main line. Should I replace? I was told it's OK ? It's about 3/4" long.

When in doubt, play it safe. A new string now is better than a new string and possibly more damage later.

Yeah I would replace the string is all one piece so one strand can be dangerous.

If it's the actual string then definitely replace it man.

You said, repair in the field, then first step you need a bow press?

    • @moose9689

They sell pocket presses you can keep in your truck.

@@moose9689 no way! I didn't know that, I'll definitely look into them. Thanks for taking a minute to inform me

Seems like you don't really need a press, just a way to hold the bow still and in position

@@mikeguy9668 when I wrote that I didn't know about pocket presses.

@@maxstambaugh oh I get it man. I'm just saying that a press isn't necessary. I literally just got done doing it on my center serving 15 minutes ago with no press. I have a bicycle clamp that I clamp on my stabilizer that I used. Just need something to hold the bow

So would this repair not last, I guess why is it just an emergency fix and not just a fix.
