TAMBUTSO - This is an excellent demonstration. I have just purchased the DJI Osmo Action Camera myself, but haven't used it yet because I'm waiting on the mount kit. I was going through the menu and trying to decide what setting I was going to use, but your video showed me all I need to know. Sometimes, I will be using it for 5 to 8hrs straight on cycling rides (Rail Trails) and I think that 1080 look good enough for me. For that many hours, using 2k or 4k gets a bit difficult as you need a real lot of storage space. Of course my final video will be much shorter, but I would still like to capture the whole ride so I don't miss anything that might pop up. On my motorbike rides, I will use 4k I think, because they are usually only 2.5hrs. I have a few questions that I hope you do not mind answering. 1) Why 24fps and not 30 or 60? 2) I've read what you use for video editing, but what codec do you use to render the video. As an example, what did you used to edit and save your 1080 footage? Did you keep it the original size (1080_24fps) and what was your bitrate etc. I haven't used Da Vinci Resolve, but you seem to be getting better results with your upload video than all of my friends who use Gopros & DJI. There is something you're doing in the editing/rendering that is working well with youtube, and I hope you do not mind sharing that information. My friends have been using 30 or 60fps. Have you tried those setting? Cheers.
Thanks. Helped understand different modes in easy way. Not many such comparisons available. Professional reviewers focus on too many unwanted things and leave lot of room for what device is really capable of or meant for.
A very well composed video sir. I came here with the intention of further research and recorded examples of the DJI OSMO. So now I'm pretty much convinced it's the camera for me. Before this video even reached the 5 minute mark, I came to another decision. I'm going to get my motorcycle license. =)
Hi Eric OSAS, yes thats the intention to share raw information for others to see and before making the decisionito spend. I appreciate your comment. Btw, I am now editting a new video using Insta360 Camera on different mountpoints or placements on the motorbike to get really cool show, even imposible from standard camera. So stay tuned. You may want to subscribe and get the notification once it is uploaded. Goodluck on your license application, it's not difficult.
Thanks for sharing this, Sir. I'm waiting for my DJI Osmo Action for my motovlogging. This is a big help! I wanted to see the 16:9 wide angle and you've shown it here. Thanks again and ride safe! New supporter here.
Nice video! The rocksteady feature really makes a difference. Can you be so kind and tell me which accessories do you use for recording the engine sound so clearly and almost without wind noise? Thank you again for this nice video
@@TAMBUTSO can you tell me which conection devices you use to link the osmo camera to the recorder? Any type of wire or cable? What kind? Thanks, again.
@@Fernando90054 no cable used between the Sony audio recorder and the camera. I sync them manually during post processing in Da Vinci Resolve software by Black Magic Design.
I just bought a DJI Osmo Action for motovloging on Amazon Prime Days for $160.00. I think your video shows me that I made an excellent purchase. Do you have the camera mounted on your helmet? Also what bike are you riding... SOUNDS AWESOME,!
Two big problems with the Osmo Action from my experience: 1. Audio. The DJI-approved Cynova mic adapter doesn't seem to benefit from the Osmo's builtin AGC (automated gain control), so the audio quickly gets overloaded/garbled in the high dynamic range of a motorcycle, especially as it goes faster and engine/wind noise increase. 2. Wide screen not wide enough. When using Rockstead, the widest FOV you can get is considerably less than the GoPro SuperView. Motovloggers need a simple camera - no need for even one screen, let alone two - and with good external audio (3.5mm analog and Bluetooth, e.g., integrating with intercom). The only UUI required is a button for on/off-start/stop and beep/light. Everything else (e.g., config) can be done via smart phone.
Did you have a chance to check battery life with each different setting? I know it burns a lot more storage in 4k vs 1080 but I'm curious about battery drain.
No I did not check the battery life of each settings. After watching other reviews saying this device eats battery specially in 4K mode, I decided to find a way to put external power source. At the same time I wanted to have decent audio for external microphone. The CYNOVA adaptor addresses those two concerns as it has ext mic input at well as USB-C socket for ext power source.
Yes it does drain more battery. You have to buy cynova extension if you want to record more. It has a 3.5mm for mic input for clearer voice and a usb-c input for charging. also take note that in 4k and 2.7k with rock steady "ON" SOMETIMES the camera malfunctions and freezes and restart it self. I have this camera updated to its current firmware. I reported it also to osmo support and they say they will make another update on this. They make firmware updates to correct the latency but the camera has its limits. So maybe its the reason. But still i love my DJI Osmo Action. I use it more on vlogging. I will use it also for motovlog.
@@CavenInToTheWorld I bought two of them since I posted this question. I usually use a battery in my backpack and keep it plugged in during motorcycle rides here in Hawaii (check it out! RydnHawaii2Day or fstrdnuagain). I've tried the adapter but I haven't found the right mic for notice riding yet. It records audio at too much gain and blows up the audio. Now I use my phone to record audio with my lav mic. I mix the audio and video in my power director program.
