Thank you very much. Have successfully changed a Kia Ceed key with a broken key blade housing and used a new fob bought cheaply online. It took ages, knocking out the old pin, filing the old blade to make that hole bigger and trying again and again, but finally worked and had saved me many pounds. Even though I stopped using the buttons to open and close the car years ago I still needed to transfer the chip, as otherwise the car wouldn't work. Your instructions were very clear and I kept rewinding the video until I got it right. One tip worth remembering, which I saw on a different video, was to put the old key inside a plastic bag large enough to fit a hand in. When prising it apart (and a screwdriver works well to do this) the components then all remain inside the bag and don't shoot out all over the place.
@@TheCarKeyMan it's a flip key but the case was supplied with the car and must have been glued! I've, at the end of the day, used a hacksaw blade and Stanley type knife plus plyers to open the case, what a job. Semi shorted just need to increase tention on the spring. Hi Mandy. These Citroen and Peugeot keys are the worst keys we see. Alot of the time the pads have been worn out and the switches are broken underneath. Did it used to work?
Have you tried a new battery? If so, what you need to do sometimes is simply this. Turn the igniton on, don't start the car. Press and hold teh lock button for a few, say 5 secs ( this is not an exact science). Then turn teh ignition off and see it the key remote works. This is what you have to do sometimes after the key just stops working. Let us and everyone know if it works, it will help someone else looking for an answer
Hello wonder if anybody can please help me.. the spring has gone any idea where to get a good replacement?? both of my keys are broken.. Ford's want an arm and a leg for it lol ... does not retract back in the case or out. Mondeo mk4 2014 thank you
Hello. Thanks for the question. Yes these keys are starting to become a problem. Colin Wilson has also been in contact about this and has sent us his key to fix. When we get this, we'll make a quick video on how to open the case, ( it's a sealed unit) and replace it with a new case. This will be this week hopefully so hopefully you can wait a few more days. Do you have a replacement case yet?

The key looks like the banana shaped one. If that's any help.

Bozz King mine wasn't the banana shaped key, but I suspect the process will be the same. The case cost me £4 from AliExpress.
