Dude I think you watched the episode where Goku and krillin go to a forest to get roshi some paradise herbs, those herbs sorta give you immortality if you keep eating them, you can die but not cause your old, roshi in the fight put all his power in the attack so ended up almost dead cause Ki is also life force energy
I fw this episode cause it put a lot of folk who didn’t watch OG DB onto Roshi. Before this, people were mad confused why he was even picked for the team. W reaction 🔥
the best thing about this episode in my opinion are the speeches he makes. to the last opponent at the beginning he told him that he was strong and being young he learned quickly, but he didn't have the experience as a roshi and therefore attacked predictably. note his motivational speech for goku and krillin before the khameamea. one very true thing he said is that when certain to collide forcefully goku and the others are excellent, but against opponents who use intelligence and tricks he has to deal about it.... experience makes the difference
It's stated in Dragon Ball that Master Roshi is around 300 years old, which means that by the end of Dragon Ball Super, Roshi should be between 340 and 350
This episode broke me when it initially released a few years ago, the emotion that was put in to the scenes with roshi really put me on edge coz of how wholesome the bond between roshi and ma boi goku was And I’m happy that roshi didn’t go out sad this moment will forever be goated and one of the most iconic moments in db w fuckin mercy for the reaction❤🙏
Damn I feel you bro i bet if I had watched db from the beginning i would've been more emotional too but yea im glad roshi is good and thank you my guy I really appreciate it🙏🏼🩶
Roshi did die but goku started his heart back and healed him but roshi didnt eat no herb they lying in chat in og dragon ball he was 300 years old and when he was younger and trained with korin he accidently drinked the sacred water to make him now die from age you should watch a video on that because goku drink that also
So two fun fact. In the manga roshi does the same thing that he did to the bird guy to jiren, basically dodging all of his attack. He was basically the closest person to reaching ultra instinct. People didnt really like it,honestly fair, even thought jiren obviusly made himself weaker to not kill him he should still be stronger than this bird guy so basically to fast to read. The other fun fact is that during the time the episode were coming out i remember hearing that the official creator did state that during the tournament there was going to be a dead. Having already seen the show im still not sure of who he was referring too but im pretty positive that it was roshi because in that moment he did actually die.
Stronger doesn't HAVE to mean faster, most of the time it does but there have definitely been characters who are faster than they are strong. Throughout most of the tournament Jiren's attack were actually pretty slow and easily readable in comparison to what we usually see from people in the show. He was unpredictable to Goku and Vegeta who for one, have hundreds of years of martial arts experience to make up the gap between them and Roshi, and two are more used to fighting people that don't fight super intelligently whereas Jiren was fighting intelligently all the way to the end until he lost his cool and it was only after he lost his cool that he was genuinely a beatable opponent. Also if you have seen Dragon Ball Super Superhero, they even mention that Jiren wasn't even that much stronger than him and all of there struggles with him were effectively that he didn't fight like anyone else they've ever encountered. Sure he was stronger but he began fighting in a way that everyone was more used to. I don't think we know Jiren's age but it's safe to assume that he's not as old as Roshi. In 300+ years of life, it's reasonably safe to assume Roshi has probably seen people who fight similarly to Jiren even if they are nowhere near Jiren's power. The entire idea of Master Roshi being the Master of Martial Arts is that, it really doesn't matter if he's stronger or faster he beats them in technique and experience. And I can even tie this back into Hit who is far older than Roshi. Hit has a really strong specialty but he's not actually good at martial arts, he's good at killing, thus why he's effectively lost every tournament he's been in but only to people on the level of Goku and Jiren, both of which are quite frankly, down right remarkable Martial Artists. Hell Vegeta probably could have done it too but he went in to that fight with literally zero information on Hit's specialty.
@@WXRST99 thing is that the manga and anime are basically different contiunity. Even ui is different. That statement of the movie makes sense for the manga but not for the anime.
Whoever said paradise herb is trolling lmao. He found the fountain of youth when he was younger and yes that is canon. He drank something called, the immortality exlixir, according to several sources in different Mangas for the show. I trust the Manga as a great source for what's canon as it comes directly from the pen of the author.
@@NoMercy4k retcon is what happens when writers change established lore and give a new explanation to something that was previously established. This can sometimes piss viewers off because it throws old lore out the window. For example in MK first it was Shao Khan that killed Kitana's father king Jerrod, then later it was retconned into being Sindel, Kitana's mother, who killed her own husband, turning Sindel into a villain instead of the original idea of being a brainwashed victim.
for roshi's immortality (to aging but can still be killed in battle) super gave a different answer then og dragon ball in og roshi mentions the "immortal phoenix" and nearly rewards goku with immortality but turtle said the phoenix died of food poisoning (dragon ball started out as a gag manga) in super we see roshi eat some herbs to live longer, but it's never brought up again before or after so we have no idea why the anime did that i have no idea why people in the comments are telling you it was the sacred water as it's not real, the test to get the water from korrin was the real training as it was just normal water. later korrin gave goku the "real" sacred water, but it doesn't give imortality it was a high chance of killing you for a small chance at a power up, nothing stated it can make you immortal
TBH, the specifications of what Roshi consumed are irrelevant. It's a fact that he will outlive most people in the show in terms of dying from natural causes and the source behind it isn't so important that it require debating.
@@NoMercy4k the "sacred water" was believed to have been the reason why he has lived so long originally but it was actually a lie, the sacred water was just a placebo effect meaning it wasn't special at all! 😅 when Roshi was asked about how he has lived so long he claims that it was because he was blessed by a Phoenix to have a long life but...that was also a lie.
