Lassie - Episode

Timmy, Lassie, and Timmy's cousin Dick (Paul's nephew who is in the Air Force Academy) find a hurt falcon and Timmy nurses it back to health while Dick teaches him how to train a falcon. When Ruth finds out that Timmy can't keep the falcon due to federal law, Timmy decides to give the bird to the Air Force Academy as a mascot since the bird is the symbol of the academy. TRIVIA: The academy featured in this episode was built near Colorado Springs, Colorado and encompasses 18,500 acres. On 29 August 1958 1,145 cadets moved to the new site, and it has remained the home of the Air Force Academy ever since. On April 1st, 2004, fifty years after Congress authorized the building of the Academy, the Cadet Area at the Academy was designated a National Historic Landmark. The Class of 1959 chose the falcon as the Academy's mascot.
