I mean shit they have a fucked up leader now but you can still go to Turkey without a problem and going to Saudi isn't much of an issue either. There are plenty of recent documentaries done in both those countries, you don't need to get your news from one exclusive source. They're not isolated countries like North Korea is.
+Custer they already understand that, the people aren't stupid. Only people in leading positions have enough reason (money+health) to be wanting to stay in the country. The reason they don't revolt is that 3 generations of your family will be sent to concentration camps and maybe also executed if you commit crimes against the regime. That means your children, your parents and your grandparents could be punished all together if you chose to disobey the regime. There would have to be a shitton of people of all kinds of different generations willing to die to be able to make a regime-threatening revolution possible. And without the right to assemble freely or without any secure forms of communication this kind of task seems impossible to organize.

If you guys didn't know, a US visitor died in NK the same year that this was recorded, so pretty safe to say those reporters have balls of steel. The name of that guy was Otto. He was captured for 'allegedly' stealing a propaganda poster on the 5th floor of the hotel where he was staying. He went to court, where he had already accepted he had lost his life. He was sentenced to labor works, and freed to the US a year later or so in coma. 6 days upon arrival, he died.
@General Guile Excuse you, if he was taken back to the US in coma and nearly dead he was basically killed in NK. Also, they used against him a suspiciously blurred video from a security camera showing a man taking a poster off a wall. In that video you cannot see his face neither anything that could identify him, so it could also had just been a plot against him or just against the US via one of its citizens. He wasn't able to defend himself in court and was treated as a slave under threats. You just need to watch some of the videos of him "declaring" in "court".

Feel kinda sorry for that kid talking microbiology. He clearly has a passion and interest for it, but will never be able to go as far as he could with the lack of available knowledge he’s allowed to know
The state will allow to him to know what they think he needs to know. He will be able to have enough knowledge to make a good career in North Korea. It is not as if he will ever be able to leave North Korea, so his lack of knowledge compared to researchers in other countries will not be a hindrance to him. In fact, he will likely never even be aware of the fact that the internet exists. Knowledge of and access to the real internet is something that in North Korea is only given to a very select few researchers who can be trusted to know the truth. Unless this boy ever advances to those deep inner circles of the regime, he will remain in ignorance of the outside world.

@@lucasvdb981 I literally live metres away from a North Korean lady who travels back and forth to teach english in Pyongyang. The people of the DPRK overall support their government. It's not without fault but it's nowhere near as bad as what western media tells you.

they already understand that, the people aren't stupid.

The BBC is awful when it comes to reports on North Korea. The BBC spread fake stories that North Koreans were forced to get haircuts to look like Kim Jong-un.

Yeah it's sad how they have no internet. And as BBC said, in sciencs, without internet, you're dead.
