Ridge Racer (PSX): How To Win The Devil's Car #13

- Play the intro mini game, shoot down all the aliens before time runs out to get the extra cars. You'll want them for this.
Select Car #6, Galaga RT Carrot. It has the best speed and handling for sharper turns without drifting. Not caring about acceleration stat because if you hit too many walls and slow down you're going to lose anyhow, so you want a car that's easier to not hit said walls.The traction stat being low is actually good because drifting is part of the game. In fact I find this car easier to manage when it comes to coming out of a drift.
Play and win the first four tracks: Beginner, Medium, Hard, and Time Trials. After you beat T.T., The same tracks show up again, except you're drifting in the opposite direction around the track. Pick the final T.T. track to race against the Devil Car 13.
For this race it's you, your normal Yellow Solvalou nemesis, and The Devil. For the first lap he's parked off to the right after the first sharp curve, probably listening to "Fred's Got Slacks" on the radio. He'll kick it into high gear and pass you however, but not to worry, he'll wait and pull the same stunt on lap two, except he'll be off on the right side. It's on lap two and three where you'll need to race pretty clean and weave left and right, staying around the middle of the track in order to block him. You can still mess up here and there, but again, weave left and right to block him from passing, otherwise it's game over, there's no catching him.
If you beat him successfully, you're rewarded with his car, Car #13 from 13" Racing. The car is unworldly fast. You can't physically touch it because it's absolutely frictionless, and light just kind of falls into it. Most stats are maxed except for acceleration, which makes it difficult to drift with since it turns so sharp and has such good traction.
Gameplay was done through RetroArch which really sharpens the visuals and framerate.

It's hard for me to admit, I have tried multiple times, with the extra cars from the minigame before the main game starts, to complete this race with the #13 car, but I have never been able to beat it, I'm trying again, but no luck. I don't think I will ever truly complete this game, this game is my arch enemy.
Try to stay in the center of the road, slightly weaving left and right where possible to block the black car. With enough practice (and a bit of luck) you will pull it off. It took me quite awhile when I first did it, which is why I consider it to be one of the hardest gaming achievements. As such, it won't be easy. At all. But if I can do it, you can do it.
@@xtalviper I tried these tips & tricks before but it's difficult to stay center especially when you're trying to prevent from hitting the walls, the car always passes me on a difficult place so I could not stay center.

I have done this two or three times by using the blue car (max top speed) for all courses except final TT. I always have to switch to the yellow car on the final TT (best accelaration) but the principal is the same. Occasionally you see a flicker of the black car's bonnet, so you know it's hitting you from behind. ...For me, the tricky aspect is racing at night, that turn after the extra section is a fuckin' bitch. Saying that, I find the extra hard course much harder than the TT.
Till this day, i still can't beat that F#$#ing Black Car, and this guy does 360s lol

So .....you have to block him behind you no matter what?
Yes, pretty much stay in the middle of the road. Slightly weaving back and forth from right to left works pretty well on straightaways. If you let too much room on the left or right he'll slip by, and once he passes you it's over, he's too fast to catch.
I passed the 13 car using the blue car, the one that can be available withouth playing galaga
At 2:20 why did the 13 racing opponent car stopped?
He's there on the right side of the road during the first lap stopped as well. Then to show how fast the car is, they have it speeding by you on that first lap. If it didn't wait for you on the second lap, you'd have to block him for the better part of three laps instead of two, making it much more difficult.

i could beat the car every time the trick is to have a poor first lap and the game underestimates you then go for it in the 2nd and 3rd.seemed to work for me anyway
I don't really think it's necessary to shoot down all the ships at the loading screen to accumulate the Carrot Car, I think the Carrot Car is already selectable without shooting them all, I don't believe it was one of the hidden cars. Nice video nonetheless
You can only get the carrot car by shooting down the aliens at the start, I think you get 8 hidden cars by doing it.

But what I'm saying is that the Carrot Car is already selectable if you do shoot all the aliens or not, I don't believe it was one of the hidden cars (when you do shoot all the aliens), I MAY be wrong with that though as it has been sometime for me since I have played the first RR, wish I was able to get back into it again.

The Carrot is one of the hidden cars only available after shooting down all the ships. There are only four available when you don't shoot down the ships: F/A Racing, RT Ryukyu, RT Yellow Solvalou, and RT Blue Solvalou.
What CRT Shader are you using?
