- The video you have all been waiting for! We wanted to give Milo and Kodi time to adjust to one another as cats can take a while to trust one another and I'll be honest at first I was worried if we had made the right decision. Kodi desperately wanted to be friends with Milo but it took Milo a minute to calm to him. And now just a few weeks later you can't take Kodi away from Milo, he is constantly playing, grooming or sleeping next to him. Its so sweet I wish we had got Milo a brother years ago.
For those wondering Milo is a Maine Coon crossed with a Ragamuffin whereas Kodi is a pedigree Maine Coon. We pick the Maine Coon breed as they are known for being the most 'dog like' cat in terms of personality and being good around dogs. They are also pretty big by cat sizes.
Milo: "Join me and we will rule this house as Cat and Kitten."
Kodi: "YESSS".

Milo is a lovely cat - tolerates all those giant dogs and now accepts a new cat. Beautiful too!! Kodi is also gorgeous!!

She did right to not separate them. These are teachable moments for Kodi and a way for Milo to get close to the new kitten. Unless Kodi was screaming and fur was flying, don't intervene. This was clearly playtime. So lovely to watch.

Yes! That’s actually part of showing dominance towards another cat. My older cat does that to my younger cat since day one.

Milo is a good boy! He was brought up right by his parents! I love, love, love introducing a new rescue to my clutch of furbabies. All my cats are really cool and watching them interact with each other is better than 90% of what's on TV! Good on Ya'

My cat ink did that when we got baby. He would tackle baby and proceed to groom him. I always thought ink was teaching baby the grooming process.
I have a 2 year old cat and he is so affectionate and playful. I have been thinking of getting him a pal, so this is encouraging, lol

Milo's inner monologue........ probably, "Commander's log. Catlus V has sought fit to send a me a raw recruit to help further along my mission of world domination. Cadet Kodi, as he is called, was a bit more energetic at first than I anticipated. Our commonalities were not so.... common until after the first few weeks. After that I had to get him into an intense regime of training invovling grooming, excercise, and learning surprise attacks. Young Kodi has come along quickly and has even now been known to hold his own against the larger furrier species of the planet in the house. With time I have great faith we will be able to strike a great victory for feline kind!" 😂😂😂😂
Milo is use to being boss of the house. Cats are quite slow in accepting a strange cat/kitten into a household. Kodi so cute.
Depends on the temperament of the cat for sure! Ive had ones it’s taken forever and ones who could honestly care less.

Thank you so much for sharing a time frame on cats welcoming a new addition to the family! Most places you adopt from allow 30 days when rehoming an animal, when most take at least 3 months. Takes time and patience!! Beautiful watching this transition take place!! Education is the key!!
THIS is just adorable! First, Sean is SO calm with a soothing voice during "introductions". When Milo rolled over Kodi, it was to say, "OK, you can stay; JUST remember that I am TOP CAT!! 👏🐾😺✨❤
I remember when Milo was a wee kitten and used to tackle Nikko, who was ten times his size. Baby Milo had balls. Nikko to her credit always knew her limits when rough-housing with him.
You are introducing them perfectly. You are staying in the room and with the very low levels of aggressive body language, it is really play/ “wrassling”. The blend of wrestling and grooming gives it away. I’ve introduced two cats many times and you have let them find their own rapport. And this is Milo really starting to dig play with someone closer to his size.

Yeah physical meeting is like step 4 of introducing cats. I always roll my eyes when people admonish their cat for hissing at a new cat in their space. Almost every cat is going to hiss at a strange cat in their space you force on them suddenly, they're not the asshole.

The larger cat was licking the smaller one while they were play fighting. Bonding very sweet
Hissing is a normal response to being unfamiliar and uncomfortable for cats. It's best to introduce a new cat's smell via an object they sleep on, or play with, so the current cat becomes familiar with the new scent.
Milo is a very kind and intelligent cat. He immediately realizes that they are not enemies, but family living in the same house. I can even feel the excitement.
It always takes a while to build a new relationship. This is so natural. 🇬🇧🥰🐈⬛🐈⬛

I have three cats, two girls and a boy! You are right you have to let then learn, and only jump in when absolutely necessary. When I had the boy I introduced him slowly, the one girl was like Milo is but the other one took to him straight away. Now the other one is now OK, although I think she just tolerates him. You are an amazing family, with all your fur babies and Amelia and Nathan. Thank you for your channel. ❤❤❤
As a crazy cat lady this introduction has gone very well. Some hisses. They’re both displaying positive body language. A beautiful Tabby, they are wonderful cats. 🐾🐈

I have worked in cat resuce for along time. You’re doing great with their introductions - I didn’t see anything that brought me concern. My cats who are all bonded littermates go at it like that regularly - cats will play super rough - probably rougher than most realize. the only time I will ever stop it with my three is when there’s obvious signs of aggression that may cause harm to one of them. They eventually sort it out themselves most of the time

Very rarely does a video get to me but, this one has taken me back to many rescue cat's I have introduced to my other cats over the years. In some ways, I miss those happy memories and the outcome, which has always been wonderful. God Bless you all and I wish you a happy future together xxxx

It takes cats some time, but they come around. Without human intervening. Cats are remarkable. It's nice that Milo has someone like him to play with now.

Milo hissed a bit, but I think that's basically how newly introduced cats talk to each other. He always resptected Kodi's space and left immediately when he seemed nervous.
Its great milo now has another cat to keep him company.. one more and it’ll be an even house. 😂😂
