My name is Ian and I am 10 years old. I started when I was in third grade. I am now in 5th grade, my mom showed me your videos an there is a big difference in my performance! Thanks!
Thank you , Thank you! for making such WONDERFUL videos to learn cello techniques. I'm a teacher and this is SO helpful. Can't wait to show them to my students!
Just stumbled into these fantastic talks. Thank you for sharing them. Just learning to play the cello but these will be very useful as time goes and practice progresses.
Enjoyed this. Remember controlling the degree of "up" is more important than controlling the "down." One does not merely let the bow drop on the string but must also control how far it rises on the rebound. That is 50% of the motion, and a player who doesn't focus on controlling the rebound will have an unsuccessful staccato.
studying this with my teacher mr haimovitz at mcgill, I'm so extremely frustrated I have no idea what to do. And i have to learn davydovs "at the fountain"... how am i supposed to do this and quickly? I find it frustrating to practise because I never know if I am getting it right or developing a bad habit.
