Just saw this again for the first time in about 60 years. I love this movie and its music. I almost can’t decide which song is the best, but I think it’s this one. What a thrill to see this again.

This sounds a little bit strange, but when Gulliver puts his pipe away, I love that he actually pats it empty, then goes to the trouble of tucking it into his belt where it can still be seen afterwards. He doesn't just magically get rid of it or just slide it out of sight. The scene in general is a really beautiful one, but when I notice little details like that, I can really appreciate the work and attention to detail that went into making this.

Even though this isn't a Disney film. This was made by Paramount. Some of the animators who worked on Snow White for Disney also worked on this movie.

Maybe its because its rotoscoped animation so the reason it has continuity is that he actually has the pipe on his person ?

The waves, the colors, expressions, and detail... I love it all. As a kid, I only noticed that Gulliver looks like a real human, but all the Lilliputians were very cartoonish.

Its crazy how when I was little I hated this part of the movie because I thought it was boring but now that Im an adult I think it looks and sounds so beautiful. Now I appreciate the animation and beautiful music.

I love the way he raises himself to sing ..it is as if the dream is lifting him upwards, the rhythm of the opening lyrics in sync with the waves is wonderful and the tone in his voice is captivating.....I watched this recently with my 6-year-old and I'm happy to say we both got tremendous Joy from it...

Just seeing this again brought tears to my eyes. It was movies like these that were my safe space when I was a kid. This movie along with Disney, Shirley Temple, Jim Henson’s The Labyrinth and Milo and Otis. It was these types of movies that bring to the place of simpler times. For all you little ones out there, enjoy your childhood. No matter what. Even it’s through these little things. Because one day you’re going to be a grown up, and realized you wish to go back…

Love this song. We saw it every holiday (can’t remember whether it was Thanksgiving or Christmas) on WPIX TV from New York. The song has been in my heart since then. I only just realized there’s only a short clip because it was a big hit that year (Vera Ellen sang it) so everyone already knew it. CS Lewis said the fact that no one is satisfied with this world shows there’s a better one to come with JESUS. This song expresses that longing for a better Home.

Still my all time favorite animated film, loved it since childhood, wish folks would drift away from the Snow White comparisons and the negatives of the film and discuss its may, MANY positives. This scene has always been a highlight for me since I first saw this snippet on an old public access channel entitled ARTS, I just had to see the rest and I fell in love with it. Its also a very harmless film, with a good message and its not overtly violent like The Incredibles is. How we got from a masterwork like this to piece of trash like that is beyond me, "progress"?

Also of interest is that virtually is Sam Parker you are seeing also. The Gulliver animation was created by tracing over a live actor, and Sam Parker played him physically as well. I Hear A Dream was my grandad's favourite too, always reminds me of him. Wish they'd do a good DVD of this in the UK, my old early 80s VHS copy from the BBC is still the best transfer I can find! Some versions don't have the scene with the townsfolk on his chest too!
