This video has already given me the motivation to go out and shoot in the dark evenings rather than waiting for the weekends, so an edit video will be brilliant.
I’d love to see a vid on night editing. I know almost nothing about post processing. I used to shoot ektachrome slide film at night almost exclusively and then stopped when everything went digital. I just bought an x-t3 and decided to get back into shooting, but I want to learn how to process my images.
Please do an editing video! I may be switching to Fuji and I would happily pay for a Lightroom editing course..or a captureone course. I keep hearing about problems with Fuji and lightroom.. whats that all about? Thanks and great work!
The main reason to get this lens is the minimum focus distance of 15cm from the sensor... so you can get a very very artistic prospective for portraits and superb if you photograph food or miniatures. HOWEVER, the manual focus ring at the front somehow screws with the WR I believe. My lens has slight fungus right in the middle of the elements. And when I tried to open it up, I found dead ants far inside the lens... So, WR is really a double edge sword, while moisture can’t get in easily, it can’t get out easily too, making it a perfect for fungus. Always put it in a dry box.
On deployment to the Middle East. Been watching you for a while now. Please show your work flow for this night photography. Please and thank you! Stay safe! Brian
Love that lens, found it for 500€ in good conditions and the minimal focus distance makes it very special. Only downside is the slow and noisy autofocus
Night photo editing sounds interesting :) Otherwise.. you're lucky you can go out to shoot in the evening. Here it's lockdown.. stuck with shooting the plants at home. :)
Omar maybe you should do more night stuff because that turned out so good! I often shoot at night but can't edit quite as naturally as you do so you did better at what you never do than I do at what I regularly do. So please do more haha
Omaaaar noooo I had almost decided on getting the 14mm 2.8 over the 16.1.4 nooooooo ... time to think some more XD .... why does the 16 have so many FEATURES but I don't need time to decide for: voting for the editing video!! inspiring and enjoyable video, as always, thanks!
Yes, please do an edit video for night time pictures. Thanks for the great video now I feel I should throw my 24/35/50 prime as none of them is 1.4. :D
Hi Omar, I just got the 16mm f1.4 and it's a quality piece of glass! Been watching all your videos about it but i can't seem to find any sound samples of the focus noise. Mine is really noisy (noisier then my 35 f1.4). Got any samples of that anywhere? Thanks a bunch!!!
It's pretty pricey though. I hope that Sigma will come out with their trio of F1.4 primes for X-mount, or otherwise perhaps Viltrox... Not as wide but often I want to either shoot even wider than 16mm, or ~35mm / 56mm are good for me :)
I’ve been debating with myself which lens I should be saving up for next; a sexy prime like the 16mm f1.4, or one of the zooms for more versatility, eg 16-55mm or 10-24mm, all very expensive, each with their merits and minuses. As I love wide angle shots, I thought the 8-16mm might be tempting before it came out, but then I saw the price. And it’s very much a specialty lens. So I got the Laowa 9mm instead, which while manual, is tiny and light enough to always be in my bag, and very useful for times when you really need it. And who needs to focus on a lens that wide, once you set the aperture to f8? For my Canon, I have an 8-16mm Sigma lens I got 2nd hand for a decent price, which has seen a lot of use in the past, even though it’s sharpness in the extremities could be better. I’m thinking of selling it and a few other things to finance my next lens I can’t tell my wife about.
it really is a great lens....but I recently sold mine.. I might use the money to get the 2 Viltrox 1.4's (23 and 35) For night photography I'll be dragging my images through Lightroom anyway... what's a little extra CA repair and sharpening gonna hurt?
I purchased this lens but its not a good portrait lens. people who stand on the edge (say rule of 3rd) appear fat because of chromatic aberration. this is the problem with all landscape (wide) lenses when used for portraits.
Wide angle lenses in general are not going to give you flattering portraits. However, it is great for environmental portraits, where the location or background of the individual makes the image better. And yes, with wide angle, probably better to not to keep your subject in the left or right third -- maybe touching, but closer to the center.
one of my favorite things about the 16 1.4 seeing other reviews has always been its versatility. Not just low light and wide angle but also its very close focusing distance. Seen some crazy pseudo macro shots with it and amazing bokeh obviously. One guy ( i forget his name) does fantastic "environmental portraits" with it too. (portraits with a lot more background than normal, and also not blurred/bokeh out)
I'm trying to find this treasure of a lens in used condition at a human price, but it's almost impossible. Probably I must waiting for the Viltrox 13mm f1.4
I went for the Samyang 12mm. No auto focus though, which I know is a deal killer for most photographers. I'm an old guy who grew up with film cameras, so it does not bother me at all.
@@barrycohen311 I have the Samyang 12 mm , too ; but the AF and the 1.4 aperture will increase the general results, I suppose. Let's wait for better days...
I bought my 16 mm 1.4 used and it is an amazing lens. It is so well built you would never know it is preowned and I get amazing results out of it. It might be difficult to get hold of, but stick with it, it really is worth the wait and if you want an amazing portrait lens try and get a used 56 mm 1.2 which is possibly an even better lens.
Fantastic lens. Great for close up photos. The one Fujifilm lens that never leaves my Fujifilm xt 2. This video has set me thinking about shooting at night
Very nice shots Omar (Moe looks good) and I do agree with you, but I’m more than happy with the XF 16 f/2.8, especially since I shoot everything at f/8, if I can’t shoot at f/8 I go home, that’s the way we plumbers roll. LOL
Yes please on a night photography edit video! I love shooting at night so learning to edit them better is always a plus. That 16mm F/1.4 is one of the lenses I plan to own eventually. My only current F/1.4 lens is a vintage Konica Hexanon 57mm F/1.4 and it takes some fantastic low light shots (when I can nail that low light manual focus).
Great shots but in my opinion, at 16mm, you don’t need such a high shutter speed 🙄 - you’re fine with 1/30 or even 1/15 - 1/125 is the kind of shutter speed I use for my 50mm and my hands are not particularly stable.
ISO12800 isn't bad. I prefer to have the compact ensemble of the X-T30 and 16 ƒ2.8, although I wouldn't refuse a 16 ƒ1.4 if someone were feeling generous :-)
Hi Omar, I own 13 Fuji lenses. The least satisfying of all of them are the 16 f1.4 and 23 f1.4 when I use them at f1.4, the only reason I bought them for. They’re unsharp and full of flare and coma. Sent them to Fuji under warranty, they fixed them but the improvement is negligible. Booth the 16 f1.4 on the YT hype. I was wrong. I’ll sell both of them for the new 18 f1.4. Thanks.
Yeah please do a night photo editing video. I'm not a 16mm lens guy even though I have the 16mm f2.8. I've tried many times to take it to the streets but I can't pre-visualize the final image in that focal length. I prefer 35mm or 50mm so I got the 7artisans 35mm f1.2 (manual focus) and the Fuji 50mm f2. So far I really love the 7artisans on my X-Pro3. You should check that lens out, it goes for around 120 bucks on amazon. A steal! Even though I don't like wide angles, I do look forward to the XF 18mm f1.4. Might work out for me.
yes please for the edit video! and extra kudos for your addiction to NY coffee. Damn, a lot of that stuff is bitter. Thank goodness i found Ninth Street Espresso in Chelsea Markets when we were there last year. Is that like the best coffee on the island? Come to Australia some time, we love our coffee ;p
Omar, yes, yes, yes! Please do a video showing us how you edit your night photos. Another great video Omar. I am fortunate enough to have the 16 mm f1.4 and the 56 mm f1.2 and they are both amazing lenses, somehow they add up to more than the sum of their parts, Fujifilm black magic 👍
Yes please, show an edit flow. I don't understand why you never do, there's certainly an audience for it and you're a very technical guy with very clean edits (I follow you on Insta as well and even went to your website to see what kind of photo you did professionally :)). So yes we want that video!!
Dear omar sir this is mohit from india i have a problem with my fuji xt3 as i am traditional wedding photographer some time my fuji xt3 behave difffrent with me
Yes, please do an “edit” video.
This video has already given me the motivation to go out and shoot in the dark evenings rather than waiting for the weekends, so an edit video will be brilliant.
Indeed yes please :)
Yeah, please do so. Sometimes I forgot to switch to RAW when shooting with 16mm 1.4. Drives me crazy when retouching it!
Please Omar, do a night time editing video, escpecially the question how to get our fuji pictures less grainy in light room!
The only way to get less grain in lightroom is to get capture one XD
Yes an edit video for night photography would be awesome.
A follow-up editing vid, please and thank you! I'd also like to hear about your settings for the night video too.
Yeah! Night photo editing would be very cool and useful!!!! Thank you. Top Man!!!
I was going ask you how you deal with the high dynamic range. I always struggle with that doing night photography, so yes please, do an editing video.
Love using my 18-55 at 18 2.8 with OIS for these shoots, you get a nice dramatic blur in cars and people going by 💟✌
I love that Fuji 16 mm 1.4 in combination with my X-T4 and X-Pro 3 👍
Awesome shots, some of your best!
Editing is my one weakness... other than that whole taking the picture thing. Yes, please do an edit video!
I really enjoy shooting with the 1.4 at night in black and white. Dark, dark blacks..excellent highlights..sharp. Super moody and dramatic.
I’d love to see a vid on night editing. I know almost nothing about post processing. I used to shoot ektachrome slide film at night almost exclusively and then stopped when everything went digital. I just bought an x-t3 and decided to get back into shooting, but I want to learn how to process my images.
I will buy this lens definitely
Please do an editing video! I may be switching to Fuji and I would happily pay for a Lightroom editing course..or a captureone course. I keep hearing about problems with Fuji and lightroom..

Great shots, as usual. And great lens. Oh, and great price too.

I currently have 13 lenses for my XT3 camera, but only one is a Fuji native.... the 16mm 1.4 ! The rest of them are all analog lenses ❤
Yes I would love an edit video! PPPEEACE!!

Hi Omar...Great night time shots! Yes please make a night edit video! I'm now officially a fan! Haha! Subbed! :)
Love that lens, found it for 500€ in good conditions and the minimal focus distance makes it very special. Only downside is the slow and noisy autofocus
Great video Omar.. yeah.. please do a video of your processing method with night photography.. it will be amazing.. 😁
You should try some astrophotography with that lens its good at it apparently, the best in the fuji range
Night photo editing sounds interesting :)
Otherwise.. you're lucky you can go out to shoot in the evening. Here it's lockdown.. stuck with shooting the plants at home. :)
Have you ever played around w/ the Fuji 50-140? I'm super interested in hearing your opinion on it.
Omar maybe you should do more night stuff because that turned out so good! I often shoot at night but can't edit quite as naturally as you do so you did better at what you never do than I do at what I regularly do. So please do more haha
5:33 Yes please! :)
Again a great video!
0:18 -> The 16/1.4 is also WR.
Yes , please . Edit night photo 🎉 Thks
yes please do a night time processing video.
Omaaaar noooo I had almost decided on getting the 14mm 2.8 over the 16.1.4 nooooooo

Yes please

As well as night photography, landscape photography and macros, is this lens a good vlogging lens?
Yes, show edits 👌💪
Great video :)
Although I think you are appreciating the F1.4 in essence not necessarily the 16mm ;)
Please show us a video with you editing skills ;)
This music is awesome :)
Nice video and yes please for the edit video
Please add another vote for a night editing video!
Night photo editing tips pleeeaaase?

No exaggeration - it's my favourite lens ever :-)

I'd like to know about the 14mm in apsc because it comes close to the Jeanloup Sieff's 21mm full frame

Nice, i just badly need a 1.4 lens
There’s lots of 3rd party fast primes for the X-Mount
If you do a really close portrait of someone does it make the head a different shape or normal? Is it fast auto focus? Thanks
Pleas show is the edit video!
Do it!!
Wow... an edit Video wolle be great... 🙂
Weird question for you, but when doing street photography do you typically still shoot in manual or do you prefer aperture priority?
You should invite other NYers to your Fuji photo parties
sounds like you are convincing yourself to get the 50mm 1! even more light gathering!
16mm /1.4 or 23mm /1.4? ))

I use 23 1.4 for night photography

Edit Video!! WOOHOO 🎉🙏🏾
An edit video would be interesting to watch. Do you use bracketing at all?
Night photography is fun...Funny, just got in with Freddy after doing a night shoot in Montmartre, Paris...using my 23mm f/1.4 lens.
I'm trying to find this treasure of a lens in used condition at a human price, but it's almost impossible.

I’d love to see your night editing.
Looks like you had a great time.

do you think viltrox will release 16mm too?
