As an adult diagnosed ADHDer who had depression as a result, I found the episode w Alex's apartment somewhat comforting. I don't know her reasons, but seeing such a raw view of what a disorganised life could be like was a bit affirming. I live(d) with a lot of shame and I can't fully express what this series did for me and undoing my shame, regardless of online judgment thrown at her. My *almost daily mantra (cause I can never be consistent w anything) is "being messy/untidy is morally neutral. You're trying your best & that's all that matters".
@ men and women come with red flags. I saw red flags in many of the women too, it is not a gender thing it is a personality thing. Most people get with the wrong person because they ignore things that show who the person is and think they will be able to change them.

That first fight could have been easily avoided if Alex just answered Tim when he asked what was wrong with a simple "I'm just missing my family" instead of "I don't want to talk about it".
I believe “I don’t want to talk about it” is absolutely valid too. It doesn’t mean she never wanted to talk about it, but in that moment she was overwhelmed and needed space. Even admitting she misses her family probably was too much and may have opened a door to more questions.

My best friend who is a crazy hard worker with multiple jobs loooooooves her naps! Hard working women need their naps!!!!! It’s the best recharge! Also Alex, that type of cleaning style sounds like ADHD to me. I have the same problem and had to learn a new way to clean. Recommend talking to a therapist and ask! What was difficult at that moment to say i miss my dad, let's talk about it later? Could have been the best solution to a successful engagement and eventually marriage.

Or perhaps, rather than assume what would be expected, he should communicate: “When I do …, I feel my partner should … in return”. People have different strengths and weaknesses. For ALLLLL that emotional labor Alex performed, listening to this long-winded, emotionally needy man, Tim performed ALLLL that physical labor cooking and cleaning. BOTH contributed - but not necessarily in ways the other needed. Ideally, if they had dated over time, Tim could have expressed his need for more physical contribution and Alex could have expressed her need for more emotional support. If both had been open to listen and give to the other what they needed, this may have worked. Unfortunately, women are just expected to cater to men. So people saw Tim’s need for emotional support as her obligation and cleaning as her “role”. His failure to allow space for her emotional needs? Not an issue. He’s the man, after all. Also why pick up a bar tending shift on the night Tims family were coming? Especially as she said that was the only time during the show she did that. Thanks for doing this interview with her because I feel like she got a bad edit. My opinion of Alex was not great until the breakup scene and I was confused about how he was mad she didn’t respond to a text that required no response. At some point, a text conversation must end at that one seemed natural to me. The minute he brought that up I was like “so he’s been the problem this whole time.”

Now Alex looks like the villain oppose to Tim who should have been trying to deal with the unfortunate passing of his sister off the show. Alex had to coddle and help this man. Judging simply as an observer… I believe Tim was actually looking for a wife as a priority, not a byproduct. I also perceive that although Alex was looking to get chosen on the show… she was ill equipped to even be a wife. At least from a traditional standpoint. Nothing in her character was giving WIFE. Partner… maybe, to be fair. I also see that she was more than ok with the added incentives that came with being on TV which leads me to believe she was doing this experiment primarily for the clout and social media fame/exposure. Non of that is EQUAL to what Time Tim was on. She could improve those things. However I wonder if Tim would wash the dishes after he worked 2 jobs and she cooked all day for the family. Hmmm. It's really insane. Also he grilled for a couple hours. People acting like he was slaving away in the kitchen gutting and cleaning a whole chicken, pot of rice, macaroni, slaw, salad like STOP IT.

Agreed, she was immature, disrespectful, attitudinal, LAZY, and still relied on finding men who just liked her looks...and she acted up from the moment she saw Tim and was disappointed with his looks
Judging simply as an observer… I believe Tim was actually looking for a wife as a priority, not a byproduct. I also perceive that although Alex was looking to get chosen on the show… she was ill equipped to even be a wife. At least from a traditional standpoint. Nothing in her character was giving WIFE. Partner… maybe, to be fair. I also see that she was more than ok with the added incentives that came with being on TV which leads me to believe she was doing this experiment primarily for the clout and social media fame/exposure. This is just my opinion as a married man observing a heavily edited Netflix show.
