- Chennai international airport's new integrated terminal building details. The NITB T2 covers an area of 136,295m²(1.4 million ft²) and is built between the existing Terminals 4 and 1. The old Terminal 2 (T2), which was no longer in use, was demolished to make way for the NITB. The new terminal building (T-2) is a state-of-the art facility that embraces travellers with seamless efficiency, elegant ambiance, and sustainable design. The travellers transiting through the NITB are also enthralled by the artworks displayed inside the terminals.

You must understand that there is a severe land constraint at Chennai airport. Considering the potential, the built up needs to double. Low ceiling height is an issue, but with this available land space after demolition of the old Kamaraj Terminal, additional floors have been added compromising on ceiling height. Lets hope the Parandur Greenfield airport takes off soon. There is no alternative.

Airport is spacious enough .The connecivity beween the Termanils is really far beter than terminals in other Metros.Whts is sucking is the Roof Design and its colors ,the unprofessional kolam pattern and is colors in the chekc in area. The sklight is looking weird.The other area are ok.I feel the roof and floor deisgn in T1 & T4 check in areas are far professional than this.They roof and skylight just looks like a colored shed or godown .The nasty roof & floor design is constructed in the name Tmail culture by the airport authorities.
Yes, Chennai airport is the 3rd biggest airport in India 🇮🇳 in terms of operating flights.
😅Very nice to have new airport and great renovation . But But But at least put some sign when some terminal are closed in order to facilitate passengers to know where to go. I got some difficulty and confuse to see my gate and terminal

In India we are very land constrained. Everything is small. If you privatize the airport they will bring experts who have a lot more experience and exposure to airports around the world and bring even better ideas. But I am still happy Chennai airport is getting modernized.
The dull lighting in the waiting area looks good, but the ceiling height is too low and is making the whole area look cramped. It also looks like an endless trap without enough sign boards.
Check-in area is good, but looks a bit loud.
In-person experience could be different? I don’t know.
But kudos to the Indian government, it did something.

For Your Information. This Airport is located in the heart of the city. None of the nearby state Metro cities has this kind of transportation facility to the Airport.
I just traveled to Hyderabad city recently. The flight charge is Rs.2700 only. But the Airport to city cab charge is Rs.1200. But in Chennai we can go to the airport in metro for Rs.60. This is far better than other cities. Also, other city Airport is brand new and newly constructed in a new area. But Chennai airport is still under construction for the last 12 years in the same area, it handles both Passenger traffic and construction work together. They have not closed the Airport due to construction. so till they complete the remaining 1 terminal we have to adjust to this.
Do they serve free alcohol on the lounge? I know they used to give out complimentary beer/60 ml of spirits.

🥲. I feel the same. Some guy messed up the colour tones during execution.
The food court is sub standard for an airport. Sub on the go & the stall next to it look very cheap like street food kiosks .
They still need to improve a lot to better serve passengers. I hope AAI will bring in more food operators in the next few months.

@@tamiltreasures7678 I have a few more suggestions a) the few signage that are there should be on a larger screen ,both at entrance & interior passages b) the entrance point ,as you also mentioned is meaninglessly on the side instead if the big entrance c) the floor level was level & easier to push through the trolley with baggage ; but now they have given a small ramp like elevation to push through making it tough for senior citizens like me d) less said about a movie theatre in an airport will be better.
Any new comer to the terminal will be confused where to board the plane

Airport infrastructure looks nice and good. But to give a constructive criticism/feedback about the video. This video and like most of the other Chennai Airport tour or walk through videos that i have seen on youtube, has no voice overs or guidance, but only text based information and that to like "where are these people going, no one has any clue, they all wandering, where are the signs, where are the boards" it felt more like a consumer grievance video rather than a walk through one. Example like this one: ua-cam.com/video/bKPsZVkNwlE/v-deo.html&ab_channel=VirtCamTravel would have been even cooler. Thanks.

How we go from terminal 2 to terminal 1
My experience during the last year's visit.
Within the terminal, it is easy to walk from T2 to T1. You can see a walkway with the Travelator. See my video at 3:03. But there are some limitations due to security issues.
Alternately, you can exit the terminal and walk outside. There is no need to worry about the sun or rain. The walkway is well connected with a covered shelter.
Lounge still accepting Rupay platinum cards?
Need to check. They have charged HKD 44 for my dinner. very expensive. 🥲
What cards they are accepting for International lounge?

It depends on the airline. There are two levels for boarding.
Passenger bridge facilities are available for gates 1 to 12. For the Gates 100 series, you have to take the shuttle bus to the aircraft.
