The spending didn't create the deficit or the crash. The crash created the deficit. Fact, Labour inhereted debt of 42% of the economy in 1997 and it was down to 38% of the economy in 2008 before the crash.

peacok01 dude... trying to explain basic economics to these fucking morons is like trying to get cameron on an actual, non-biased debate.... not gonna happen

terrormonkey1 Or, re "there is no money left", like trying to explain that Tory treasury chiefs had previously left similar notes, such as "Good luck, old cock ... Sorry to leave it in such a mess.". It is obviously an institution which existed to give space for some non-partisan banter. While there may be a distasteful air of entitlement and elitism about it (I think that is what the lady who brought it up to Miliband objected to), Cameron and his inner knave knew exactly what it was but pretended to take it in earnest.
I can only imagine that if a Labour politician had run with such a note in the way Coalition ministers did when they took office that the story from the Tory press would have been about "socialists not having a sense of humour".

terrormonkey1 And indeed when trying to deal with this gentleman, ua-cam.com/video/VE5HFj-qCdg/v-deo.htmlm41s, who seems unable to grasp economic concepts that go beyond whether he can have a pint at the end of the week or not *facepalm*.

exactly... if these note were seriously left to be of any real use to the next chancellor, camerons would have read: "money is currently with all the inbred city boys you went to school with!"

However, as silly as it might sounds because a lot of people says Ed Miliband is not though enough but I think we should give him a chance so please let's all bring back the Labour government in power.

This political line of 'we need to pay our debts, not pass them on to our children' is such a wheedle. Speaking on behalf of the people, they aren't our debts! The banks created the worst of the financial crisis, and the borrowing labour gov at the time had us on the edge already. They're not our children's debts, but they're not ours either! The people were let down, very badly, and 'austerity measures' means less gov spending. Well, the gov doesn't spend on people who are dong well, all the austerity measures do is cripple services for the poor and vulnerable in our society, and the debt very definitely isn't theirs. The problem is that the money has to come from somewhere, but at the very least let's not pretend that it's 'our debt'.

Immigration in small amounts is good for any country. But when it's unlimited, it's a disaster, especially for a tiny country like Britain. In the long run it will wreck the nhs, schools, environment etc. People saying that it brings money in is rubbish because for what ever tax is paid by the immigrants, more is taken by them using the health service, schools, etc. And who is going to pay for all the pensions of the immigrants as they age? I suppose politicians will think bringing another few million in every so often will offset this. Well, how and where will we all live or even fit in!!!!!!

Is it just not a simple case of numbers. More Immigrants mean more homes, more pollution, more public services with less money to go round and if more money is printed the value decreases. It encourages poverty.

iron38lady oh I totally agree with you. The past 15 years of unlimited immigration has made the uk a worse place, no wonder zero hour contacts are getting more popular, with so many folk chasing so few jobs. Just because the Tories didn't have a referendum on slashing taxes for the richest few doesn't mean voters didn't choose that option when they elected them.

Nope not hope Democracy does not mean holding referendums every 5 minutes on every policy decision. We live in a representative democracy, not a direct democracy. The whole point of these elections is to choose people that we trust to make decisions on our behalf. On most issues the public simply don't have the time to research the details or understand the impact of many of these decisions. On the EU, if you want out then vote Tory or UKIP. It's not that complicated.

A spiritual friend of mine wrote:
"I'm from Australia, but my Dad is from Britain, so we would travel over all the time when I was a kid to visit my grandparents. I went back to Britain last year for the first time in about a decade, the previous time I had been 14 years old, and I was so shocked at the difference a decade has made to Britain. Especially in London, there was barely anything that was remotely English about London. My dad was shocked too. He immigrated to Australia in 1989, and then the population of the UK was 57 million, in 2014 it is 64 million. That is an insane increase in population. How is that sustainable? Not only unsustainable, but completely illogical, countries only function well when there is a sense of unity and cultural identity. When people feel no connection to the country they're in, a country becomes weak and chaotic. Why do you think Americans are so against paying taxes? It's because the country is so separated with vastly different cultures and identities and immigration levels varying from state to state, that people hate the idea of paying taxes that will be used by a community they do not know or understand. Why is it that Scandinavians have previously been such high tax paying countries with such amazing education systems and hospitals? Because there was cultural and ethnic unity that made people willing to have higher taxes. Countries can't function when there isn't a shared identity. Immigration should be kept only for refugees, the people that genuinely need refuge from persecution. They are also the people that are most likely to adapt to their adopted country, because they have been rescued by their adopted country from the country they were from. Also, the divide between developed and undeveloped countries will only keep increasing if we keep taking their doctors and their university graduates.?"

I'm 18 and I voted for the very first time yesterday. I find politics interesting, even though I don't understand all of it. This is the only thing I really understand about politics (and please, correct me if I'm wrong); the Tories believe that inequality in society is a good thing as it encourages people to work hard and strive to be the best they can be, and that richer people deserve to keep as much as they earn, which is why they have always been seen as the party of the middle class, while Labour believe that equality is important in society and that the state should intervene to help poorer people, which is why they have always been seen as the party of the working class. I haven't voted for either party as I don't prefer either belief over the other. My Facebook is full of people saying that Labour are the better party, with others claiming the Conservatives are. I'm sure that in five years time or so, I will prefer one over the other.

Well, as someone who lives in a country where youths can't claim benefits as soon as they've finished school, I can tell you that it doesn't abolish youth unemployment, they just don't show up in statistics and therefore statistics look better. There are many young people who still have to live with their parents and are dependent on their (financial) support. Many (who really try hard and want to work and want to stand on their own feet) can't find a job or an apprenticeship for years after they've finished school (or even after University). And if you've got an internships (especially after Uni you often have no other choice, they are usually unpaid or very badly paid), you still don't get any benefits (even after years of internships) because in order to be able to claim benefits you must have been working for at least 12 months in the last two years and must have earned a certain minimum each of these months (which you usually don't get paid in internships and also not in zero hours jobs). As someone who comes from a poor family you can't even afford an internship, and you can imagine the problems and the tension it can create in families.

Just viewing this on face value, but the three leaders do not answer a question directly. It's like a pre-scripted answer. For example: The reforming of the NHS question to Cameron. Decent question; "is the NHS sustainable in its current form?"
Cameron: My disabled son etc. He used this answer so many times as a sympathy winner. It's not right.

FernandoNINETorres I agree totaly with you that's all I have heard him say...Not to go off the subject but In London there are some of the best hospitals. My niece has a little boy with Townes Brocks syndrome one of the rearest in the world.. They live in London.... He has had amazing care many operations from top surgeons. If they still lived in Yorkshire they would of had to travel to London for his treatment. And it is bad that London is providing better care than elsewhere in England.

      @FernandoNINETorres 9 років тому

gohan Sorry to hear that - I hope little boy gets the best. Yeah, in London there are really good hospitals. I've experience some bad ones mind you. I've also heard some terrible stories about families travelling hundreds of miles to get the treatment their taxes paid for. For me, either the system is not properly organised or there are dark forces at work. Makes you think, don't it? I just don't like (and this is nothing new) the way that no f**king politician can give a straight answer (like harden facts) to a question. And admit; yes this is wrong and needs to be looked at. I now take everything for what I see in-front of me. I don't believe the figures anyone says and that is why I'm probably going spoil my vote.

The banks were properly regulated, as one would normally think of the term. The problem is that leftists force banks, by law, to give house loans to people that in the past have not qualified. They have not qualified in the bankers' eyes, quite apart from the law. It looks good politically for the left to have higher ownership of homes, but they don't worry whether those buying the homes can hang on to them long term. The left does not worry, for they are quite good at blaming that on the right wing as well. That is what all these wild swings in house prices over the last 20 years have been about.

To all parties, lets talk about change..how about you give every uk citizen a million quid each year straight in the bank. We all cheer the fuck up, go on a major shopping spree buying property up making the economy sore, Before you tories/labour..etc start saying that wouldn't work, it would cost the country to much money!...You may as well try it since what you lot are doing sure as shit aint working. Spending the money everywhere else, we might as well have it eh Cameron? things have stayed the same since the beginning of time.. The rich stay rich the poor stay poor. Change it the fuck up. Its boring all this misery.
Why is so cool to see a royal chowing down on a big mac."OMG, did you see prince Harry he's sooo normal" Well, guess what i dont want Harry eating a bigmac..i cant go trotting down the Palace eating lobster while the queens guard shine my shoes. If i aint welcome in your world we dont want you in our 6 box chicken mcnugget world!

University is well over used, why should the tax payer subsidise many useless courses, many drop out, many leave their profession,
Many go part time shortly after, if their partner has a good paid job.
Lawyers, Doctors, Engineers, can well afford to pay back.
