Awe.. that’s sad. If/when you have kids you can change the cycle. I don’t want to preach or sound pretentious but everything I didn’t like about my dad I work on with my daughters. I know it’s a different dynamic with a daughter but unless I need to lay down law I try and be whatever they think a dad should be. Doesn’t mean I don’t act like a man. They will cower when I lower my voice compared to my ex wife(she yells all the time, but when I get stern my kids listen) treat them like little adults and be the structure they don’t want. My dad wasn’t there for me either and it took me fucking up constantly to learn my lot. I hate Gandhi but he has a great line “be the change you want to see in the world” lower that to be the presence in successful behavior in your family. Family>community>local government>county>state>federal. Anyone that says different is lying Edit: also I’m not my kids friend. I think it’s a stupid thing to pretend you are. You need to prepare them for life. He isn’t johns friend. He jokes with him and shows him a good time for sure but if John gets in trouble he won’t condone. I have three boys and hardly ever get any one-to-one time with them individually. I always think that I'm kinda reacting to the one who wants attention the most and maybe neglecting the other two, but it's difficult as I'm a single Dad. I must admit to being a little jealous of Donut being able to give all his attention to John and would love to be in a position where I could spend quality time like this with my kids..... but most of us ain't managing to earn money by showing people how we have fun. Lol.
The unfortunate part is that once someone is no longer there everyday, such as a child seperated due to divorce, you appreciate them more and want to make sure the time you spend together is memorable. I've been through this and it's one of the toughest things I have ever and continue to experience. Not many people choose to have children with separation in mind. Sometimes life just doesn't go the way predicted.

Tip for repelling mosquitoes: Use dr bronners hemp+teatree oil castile soap as a body wash. The skeeters hate the teatree oil. Makes a great pet wash too, the fleas and ticks hate the teatree oils too!

Here's what you can do for the bites. Grab some witch hazel, cotton pads, and hydrcortisone 1% anti-itch cream from like Walmart or wherever. Do the witch hazel first to reduce inflammation and itching and then throw some cortisone on there. Works everytime for me and my family. *FYI* Don't put hydrocortisone on your face or head, just incase you didn't know. 😉

Cotton sail Inn is a pretty nice place. My wife and I stay there when we visit Savannah. The Old Harbor Inn is also a cool place to stay. Not as luxurious as the other but its Old as shit and has some really cool history
