Hearing this conversation. Man I wish Paxton was still alive. He would have been a great guest and even cohost.
very true
You’re absolutely right. Now I’m sad.
"DRAKE, WE ARE LEAVING!"
Marines, we are leaving. And the hard line, Forget him, he's gone!
Michael Biehn has a show!! Let’s go!! I saw Aliens at 17 and it changed my life, Corporal Hicks was my favorite!
I agree and that is saying a lot because the cast is awesome. It's probably the best cast of all time. Ripley, Hudson, newt, Vasquez, and his character I forget his characters name, o yeah, and Bishop.
Saw it at 9,changed my life too ( along with The Thing )
Holy shit, the fact that Mark and Janette created a backstory of them being in prison together and growing up in gangs before the events of Aliens could be its own freakin movie! These guys were seriously a part of one of the greatest science fiction films of all time 👏. Marks praise to Michael was extremely heartwarming man.
Mike and Team -- this is probably my favorite episode to date! Mark Rolston has amazing stories and I appreciate his honestly about the actors he's worked with. Really fun insight!
Man, I love his stories. Could listen to them for hours.
It’s great to see this series doing so well. Really enjoying the relaxed interactions with your guests.
Man, this podcast is something special, youve never seen so many celebrities being so candid. Its really amazing. Michael Beihn gets it out of em 😂
Terrific discussion! Mark Rolston is a god among character actors. Great to hear from him! Please have Robert Patrick on here! It'd be cool to see two icons from different spectrums of the Terminator franchise talking to each other and exchanging stories
Patrick is a good interview, from what I have seen elsewhere.
That would be cool and have Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kurt russell and Stephen lang too.
Excellent episode! Great to hear that the marines are all genuine friends all these years later.
"Your gonna swallow what I give ya"....😂 Shawshank Redemption.
When I was eight years old, Michael Biehn was my hero. I can remember just thinking about The Terminator and Aliens films all the time. What a legend.
Wow , these stories are priceless. Mark is a fascinating guy. This podcast is becoming my favorite on UA-cam.🔥🔥
This cat's quietly had a pretty great career. Shawshank, Aliens, Lethal Weapon 2, The Departed, that''s a dorm room's worth of posters right there! Great interview!
54 days left gotta get Linda Hamilton on for the 40th anniversary
Other than Robert Patrick and James Remar, I would love for Michael Biehn should get Stephen lang, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael rooker, and Kurt Russell on his podcast since he’s worked with all of them.
I have been a fan of michael biehn since I was kid watching Terminator and Aliens.... and it's beyond a gift to hear these guys speak about these experiences
Grown up with these men. Owned Drake’s Action figure. What a gift these men gave me. The whole group from Aliens. Thank you
What a great podcast! I’ve always been fascinated by the differences in Michaels’ portrayal of Hicks and Reese. Reese is this high strung, PTSD, agile, innovative soldier from the future who has seen terrible things. Hicks is a completely laid back, quiet, unfazed, rocklike character. While completely different roles, both exude that inner strength, warmth, humility and empathy. Completely devoid of ego.
Riveting listening to you two talk shop and tell stories, great stuff
Mark Rolston in Shawshank Redemption plays a hardball vicious fake homosexual on Tim Robbins! He gets his poetic justice of course and played it terrifically right till the end . Even the brief glimpse of him sitting in the wheelchair 🦽 and the way he looked in pain as he got whisked away from Shawshank. I hope he gets the residual cheques from it unlike the Aliens situation!
Awesome!! Mark is so rad -was hoping he would appear on at some point!❤
My God. What an amazing interview. Always loved bed listening to Michael chat…but Mark is effing amazing also. Two damn good gentlemen. Thank you for this. Have to send it to all my friends.
Holy fuck, that Nick Nolte story is hilarious! Worth sticking around to the end of this video just for that! Great to listen to Mark, his work in Shawshank and Rush Hour standout in my memories.
Holy sh*t! I’ve watched Shawshank and Aliens 50 times each and never clocked it is the same actor in both films!
that was a really damn good episode. Mark is such a great actor and has some badass stories lol. thanks Michael !
Thank you for these, michael. Hope to meet you one day if you come to one of the cons in florida. Have a good day
Great storyteller
Aliens is one of the best films ever made. Easy. In my top 10 films of all time. I’ve seen thousands of films over the decades. Nothing beats the atmosphere of this film. Nothing.
Whoa man just checked out DRUNKEN MASTER Dubbed in English and it's definitely him that dubbed Jackie Chan ... Wow what a small world and amazing story!! As a massive Jackie Chan fan it's so awesome to hear his respect for Jackie Chan , it's from the heart you can see , very nice guy and he can definitely tell an awesome story ! Would love him on the podcast again , very cool voice btw ! And much respect from the U.K to you all✌️
Awesome episode, keep these coming!
Man, that was great! Laughed my ass off several times!
these have been so cool! i grew up on the alien series (im 40) and having Hicks and Drake having a chat is always a win. cheers from Australia
Me too brother 🙌
You know what would be cool, the cast of Aliens sitting around a big table (in gear) and Michael Biehn as the host.
@@waltermalestein257 the gear would be cool but not so comfortable for a long form big table discussion
Haha, you're probably right!@@FinalShineInc
Great guests Michael! Keep it coming
This was the most interesting interview I've seen in a while. I've always been fascinated with Mark Rolston because he's one of those guys that has a face you don't forget. These stories he's got of Jackie Chan and Jack Nicholson and Nick Nolte are the best! I was kind of hoping his Star Trek TNG episode would get brought up. He was like the creepiest Star Trek villain and I had hoped for a story of working on that show for an episode.
This channel is criminally under subscribed and under viewed right now, I'm doing my part and watching everything. It's sort of neat that the comments aren't totally swamped to the point that it cant be a friendly place and a community. I know that if you guys keep at it and get some cool people on it will take off and it will get binged and the numbers will eventually blow up as people find out about it.
"Right on, Vaz..."💪
“You’re just too bad”
@@jimmyb79 " Slaps him in the face and grins "
Easily one of the best interviews Ive heard
Such a great interview.
Wonderful conversation
Mark Rolston in 'Midway' as Ernest King steals the scene and though the movie races away, his presence remains. A small part, but a superb piece of acting beyond the material by not overplaying it.
Nil by mouth was directed by Gary Oldman. It's his only film, perfect.
love the jackie chan story dude is a legend
Great one, you gotta have him come back for more!
Mark has great stories
No new uploads? Been enjoying this series
"Vasquez, you're just too bad!" Nice seeing Mark getting some recognition! He was in Robocop 2 as well!
And Lethal Weapon 2 with Jenette Goldstein
Papee loves de channel, don’t stop, keep de pressing on!
Awesome Aliens and Departed stories 😂
I could listen to that conversation for another 4 hours
Coming here from Johnny ringo. Hope you’re doing well
Jack pulled a Kirk Lazarus: “I don’t read the script, the script reads me…but if you leave the camera rolling…”. Nil By Mouth is incredible too.
Be amazing to see you appear on the Critical Drinkers vip lounge. He’s a big channel and has had Mark as a guest. You’re my favourite character in my favourite film - Hicks is an absolute legend, Alien 3 did you dirty.
Mark is an excellent character actor and voice actor...he did a great job as a younger Jim Gordon in Arkham Shadow
Michael sounds like,
Tony Sirico aka paulie walnuts
when he laughs..
Well done lads just brillant.
"You're a cop", great ironic movie twist in The Departed.
The Nick Nolte story is awesome!
Mark ralston was also in eraser too, don’t forget as one of the late James Caan’s men who gets killed by the alligator at the zoo when trying to kill Arnold Schwarzenegger and Vanessa Williams. Ironic since both mark and Michael have worked with Arnold on eraser and terminator.
Hollywood has tried to replicate Aliens for almost 4 decades. In true Hollywood fashion they learn all the wrong lessons from success. It is the characters that made that movie so perfect! Everyone is so perfectly cast, the audience gets completely invested in them; From Ripley all the way Frost and Ferro! It's a total immersive film in that way
Exactly and they give off the whole vibe their badasses and can do anything but go down to LV426 and find the what they think are survivors and get slaughtered in mins from a creature they think they knew but didnt
Great talk, 👍
After the opinions from
Mark about Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson , I can't wait he thinks about Robert De Niro 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I met Ralston and Jenette Goldstein at a Megacon in 2002. Ralston couldn't have been more of a prick. He was surly and grumpy to fans who loved him for being Drake in Aliens. Maybe He shouldn't be so judgmental toward Pacino. Goldstein, however, was wonderful. Super kind and fun with the fans.
Mark is a great storyteller , man he must have hundreds of stories to tell.
Another great podcast..
Be cool to get Lance Henriksen on the show, he is getting quite old, but.. if he was up to it that would be cool too.
I liked Mark Rolston in Aliens shooting that MG42 plasma gun and in the movie Weeds with nick Nolte 😅
Great interview. I don't see how he's surprised though that he wanted Cruise over Robbins. Probably wanted people to actually see the movie in the theaters. Robbins's last movie made 47 million. Cruise's was The Firm, which made 271 million - a dramatic role too that his acting got praise for.
It's just one of those performances now though that you can't see anyone else playing.
Cruise was always going to be better from a business perspective, but he would have been badly miscast. Robbins was perfect for it though, one of those 'born-to-play-it' castings.
Vasquez! You're just too bad
I'm waiting for you to have carrie henn lol good video your podcast s are awesome
So, this show is AMAZING!
That is the best word to define it! And if Michael has a guest so open and with total Trust each other, so the result is simply amazing because between both of them the anecdotes and stories are uncountable and as they are not filters (something is GREAT TO HEAVEN) so I enjoyed from the beginning to the end.
First of all, I NEVER LIKED THE ACTORS YOU SAY, Mark, for that I like so much the real actors AS YOU BOTH. I never liked the stars! Tom Cruise for Andy Dufresne!! Look NOT, but even Tom Cruise for NON movie in history of Cinema. I never understood what the audience saw and sees in him. For me it is a mistery.
So I start for The Shawshank Redemption and look, I understood perfectly two things: why Michael didn't watch it at the first moment and needed his time for that, and why Frank Darabont (so brilliant) wanted Mark for the character. For the time he was in screen simply you never ever forget his performance from the first viewing. Simple he was perfect.
And this is a perfect movie, a kind of state of GRACE for all the people who were in it. For me one of the best movie in the history. And Morgan. Well we all knew how big he was but well, he was bigger than EARTH on it.
Al Pacino, well, he was great in GODFATHER (less 3 🤦♀️, I was LOL in the famous dramatic sequence) I guess thanks to Coppola but really, I can't stand him either (I have said it finally 😮💨). And the same with Jack Nicholson. Could you imagine Michael the torture to shoot Batman with him? I know you matched with Robin Williams but it's just an Hypothetical situation. So after the stories from Mark I can understand MUCH BETTER, the TORTURE IN THE SHOOTING OF TH SHINNING! My Gosh, Those TWO EGOS TOGUETHER! And with EARWIG!! And Pacino too!! What!!! That is the famous METHOD! 🤦♀️
And for the end, Nick Nolte!! I LOL so much! Yes, I suppose sometimes an actor can be complicated like person, but having a personality beyond the defaults or weaknesses. But I didn't want to be Nick Nolte's wife 😂😂.
I loved much the anecdote of the royalties for Aliens and about the weapons atrezzo .... and wine 😂😂😂
And I loved soooo much how close you are , the cast of Aliens, as a kind of family. It is simple precious and I saw that in Aliens expanded. So pretty.
Then this is my favorite chapter! THANKS GUYS FOR NOT HAVING FILTERS!!!
Always wanted a TV series called LV426. It tells the story of Hicks brother in the Marines that go back to investigate his brother’s disappearance. I think that would be cool take on series Seeing the he planet leveled, find alien ship, etc
The man sent Chris Tucker to babysit Jackie Chan...😅
He was so good in Tombstone that I didn't recognise him.
Aliens has only one visual effect that doesn’t look good now. The Queen after ejection from the Sulaco. Other than that it holds up really well today.
I wonder if these two own the excellent Making of Aliens by JW Rinzler which is a phenomenal book.
Need to get Vasquez on please
And I wish but unfortunately (RIP) Bill Paxton would have been amazing to see
He looks like Tim from The Rookie
Bitchin about Pacino like he’s someone of note , big mouth on this fella
Hey Hicks. Man, you look just like I feel.
Drake we are leaving!
Drake and Hicks together again!
Jackie Chan also directed a lot his movies.
I get the impression that Ridley Scott is extremely territorial with Alien. He probably didn't like that Cameron's movie kind of upstaged him a bit. and now he has that franchise locked up... and nothing gets past him without his say. I think the big reason why Fede Alavarz got to make his Alien movie and Blomkamp didn't is because Blomkamp refused Ridley's input and Fede let Ridley do what he wanted with Romulus.
Wrong, Ridley loved Aliens, and had very little input on Romulus. Aliens was an action war movie, Alien was an incredible art house horror film, and the original. To compare them is stupid and unnecessary. They stand alone as great movies. But in my opinion Alien is the goat.
DRAKE, WE ARE PODCASTING!!!!
I am not sure how your relationship is with him but, it would be really cool if you could get Rick Rossovich on to talk, it seems like he was in a lot of movies with you...not as many as Bill Paxton but, close.
Could you try to have cast members from tombstone? Anyone one from the movie.
Damn, yeah imagine if they could get Kurt on!
Who's this tim there're talking about?was he in aliens?
Full Metal Jacket Tim
who is the Timmy they talk about at the beginning?
Colceri? S1 ep 3
Has to be, he was in full
Metal jacket around the same time as alien production and they mention Kubrick.
Without Drake and Vasquez the whole squad.of marines would have been wiped out in seconds
yo yo
Big ups to Mark for disliking Pacino. He and De Niro are two of the most overrated actors ever. Meryl Streep and Christopher Walken are just two examples from their generation who are infinitely more skilled. Pacino/De Niro as the best ever was just a meme that kept being repeated until it became dogma.
He was great in The Departed! All you Michael fans need to screen K2🏔!!:)
