It’s such a rare thing to find someone close to my age with a severely sarcastic sense of humor (which I enjoy immensely) that offers incredibly helpful advice. I’m very grateful I found your channel ! 👍
Another in the very informative “How SWR works “ series. Funny, I’ve know what SWR was since I was a CB kid in the 70s with NO sadHam license. I would have liked to have seen the readings from Chris’s perspective as well to see how well these little stubbies transmit. However my wife came in during your test, and I’m not allowed to watch UA-cam anymore. 😮😢
Definition of "GIRTH"....The ability to blow out the side of a tuna can without ever hitting bottom. Could you do a video on directional antennas like the Yagi? I'd love to see how well they perform against a standard antenna and if they can really extend the range of a radio any real amount. Thanks and keep up the great work.
having worked in the antenna\combiner\multicoupler industry and having slept through countless seminars I can honestly say that YOU have found a way to keep my attention. Like a Bogner Penetrator antenna your signal has come across with crystal clarity, thank you!
I like your videos. I’m learning about GMRS which is interesting. I’m taking my tech test for my ham license Saturday and I’m also going to get a gmrs license, thanks to you.
I did the “from the yard test” on this Midland ghost antenna and the Browning ghost antenna. Using a hand held and the mobile radio in my truck, those two antennas performed the same to me on my “from the yard test”. Just a FYI in case anyone was curious.
I was good until he mentioned the pixies leaving the radio. I assume there is a conversion factor between the ham radio pixies and the GMRS electricities.
Definitely looking at one of these for the truck, but it would make my cb antenna look silly, so I need midland to make a chicken band ghost antenna to go with this for my gmrs.
I wasn't paying attention to my screen and was doing something else near the end of the video then glanced over when I noticed something didn't look right..... That made my day. Absolutely hilarious.
I am sure glad you had Chris explain some things to us since he is a licensed ham and is "qualified" to do so. But since you not a licensed ham operator, i hope the "experts" don't bust you using the rig expert device, pretty sure you need a ham license to own and operate one of those too. They will probably want to do something drastic like take away your belly button, and trust me, going through the rest of your life without your mama plug is going to be hell ! 😀
Thanks Randy, for your, once again, great antenna review. Both appear to be effective, almost equally. Many thanks to Josh as well, for his expert SWR explanation. With my Mobile in my Silverado, I run the “Midland - MXTA26 MicroMobile 6DB Gain Whip Antenna - Quadruple Signal Output - 32” “ on a “Midland - MicroMobile MXTA12 Antenna Mag Mount with NMO Connector” The Antennas you reviewed have the same “NMO Connector” so I may pick up one to have when I want a shorter ground to top of truck height measurement. Also, the “GMRS Radio Experts” on the Beach were also quite helpful in this vid. Lol! Recommend using them in your future vids.
I'm so happy that you are still alive(?) and making such informative videos. I only say that because most of your vids are a year old. Your fans have missed you. Including me, your favourite fan. I knew nothing about this hobby but you"re such a positive person, I had to buy the Boofwang. I will never go off-roading but I really enjoy your vids. I'm old and boring but living vicariously through you. Radio is a magical medium. You should have been a DJ, my friend.
You should be able find plenty of entertaining and informative videos posted by Randy this last year. His NotaRubicon Productions channel shows no fewer than 79 videos that have been posted between 3/22 and 2/23. Thats more than one video per week in this last year alone.
The girls rubbing sun tan lotion on each other was so natural for my brain that I didn’t even notice I wasn’t looking at an swr meter for 5-10 seconds😂
My wife happened to be looking at the computer scream from across the room and proceeded to scream at me during the antenna test session.... Thanks for getting me in the doghouse. I'm banned from your channel for 30-days.
Just a bit off-topic, thanks for your GMRS license step by step guide! Googled fcc gmrs license, it was in the top 2 answers! I was signed up and paid up within an hour! I enjoy your humor, and presentation - Keep up the great work 👍
Thank you for the comparison. Regardless of what the "experts" say your testing was spot on. It shows real world testing and your humor is enjoyable!! Keep up the good work!!!
As the not a rubicon’s favorite subscriber ; a licensed gmrs and ham operator . I have done exhausting research and found that the only credentials required to purchase and possess a rig expert device is a healthy bank account …… they are not cheap.
So, can we take apart each antenna for further comparison if they're the same? The results were quite similar, maybe no two Midlands would be equal I'm values due to manufacture tolerances and differences. So another way to verify is looking at the innards.
Did you actually capture the barometric pressure at both locations? As everyone knows air density can impact electron wave propagation. given the difference in elevations, is there anyway to account for gravitational lensing given the distance involved? Signals go faster downhill. Sad Ham irony aside, another great video and solid information!
Another great video Randy thanks for all the great videos you have made on this subject of gmrs. I have learned so much from watching them thank you my friend .
Some people will find the perfect place to mount this little butt plug ghost antenna where none of the spurious emissions will find their way to atmosphere or reach farrrrrs enough to be heard by experts. Without specific mounting instructions, some of those people may become angry and disagree vehemently with your findings of performance. Perhaps some should subscribe and watch other videos to educate themselves before accusing and deny the acquired information you have so graciously imparted to the Favorite Viewer. Thank you for making the rest of us aware that some questions from those that refuse to accept help are just for the sake of argument and should be ignored for sanity sake. Thanks for the review.
Sad hams are indeed sad hams. Nothing like being an elite and excluding people. No wonder the number of HAMs is dropping continually. I don't care if you have a loicense or not, you keep doing your thing man. I value your channel.
Not a member but may I politely ask, can you please review a Baofeng with a discone antenna. My thoughts were, a discone antenna may let others receive better reception and have more "FARS."
i been a fan of Josh for years now ...can i run an old school 6ft whip GMRS i have one on my old pickup 4CB and would love to have 2 fully funtional....Good work Randy thanks
Was that Tiffany the Ming Mole from the John Cadogan's favourite Island? And Josh is an AvE fan too! Starting to see a confluence of the best vloggers in the world.
"specifivicities" - I thought so, too. You nailed it the first time. A word so difficult to pronounce, the speaker is only capable of uttering the word correctly just once.
And I reply to my very own comment to merely add (and so as not to clutter up the First Column Comments) that I am a proud! ownzer of the Midland variant of the stubby, black RF Electricities Emitting Device. Oh! and I have also pur-chay-seed the Midland! MXTA26, because, truth be told, I wish to emulate to a greater degree my fine mentor, Lord Randolph of N.A.R.
Oh my. If I'm deleted I will not be. Consider mi Q first. Considering no metal roof on Jeep, ground plane , and solutions given...... Could the spare cable be coiled and stored below the antenna, and above the speaker roll bar? Will that make the ground plane effectively providing a solution to Jeeps with no metal roofs?
You forgot to add the following: barometric pressure, phase of the moon, time of day, and the sun's solar radiation at that particular moment. A local magnetic field strength might also be relevant for all the sad HAMs to verify and undoubtedly dispute your results.
It’s such a rare thing to find someone close to my age with a severely sarcastic sense of humor (which I enjoy immensely) that offers incredibly helpful advice. I’m very grateful I found your channel ! 👍
Look up AvE milling a potato
@@breckfreeride AvE is the best. Damn lesbians and their Jeeps...
I agree @Aegisltd
Lighten up Francis
Fun fact, the Midland Ghost and 6Db whip actually work okay on 70cm and 2m. About 1.7 SWR. I was very impressed.
That is certainly helpful to know! Thanks!
I found the Midland 6db antenna to be best for my operational environment
Just sold me an antenna or five!
I’d like to see that too, maybe some good ones for Gmrs or a tutorial on how to make one…but above all please keep the awesome videos coming! 😎
Oh yes please!
I read this comment, and could barely breathe for the next 5 minutes. 🤣
I looked away for a moment and when I looked back I thought I was watching the wrong video. 😘🤪😝 It's going to be a long long weekend. 🤗
having worked in the antenna\combiner\multicoupler industry and having slept through countless seminars I can honestly say that YOU have found a way to keep my attention. Like a Bogner Penetrator antenna your signal has come across with crystal clarity, thank you!
I had to rewind this video many times because I kept having trouble hearing what you were saying towards the end. Thanks Randy, love your videos.
I have to say, I learn so much from your series, but I also get a great deal of enjoyment out of your snarky/punchy approach. Thanks for that!
Glad I could help!
Hey, Josh, those are bad ass shades, dude! 5:30
I like your videos. I’m learning about GMRS which is interesting. I’m taking my tech test for my ham license Saturday and I’m also going to get a gmrs license, thanks to you.
Thanks for the babe shots. This makes GMRS far more interesting.
Best in depth antenna analysis ever in the history of UA-cam. It really help my attention and made at least two large well rounded points...
@HamRadioCrashCourse is not qualified to speak of GMRS "electricities" .. He's smart enough to stay in his own lane.
I have the Melowave and it knocks out my XM radio whenever I transmit. My cheaper Midland didn’t do it. I hope it doesn’t give me cancer. 😢
This is the best You Tube Channel out there.
Sad hams are crazy, I love your sarcasm and appreciate your videos
I was ready to give this video Several Extra Thumbs up for the scenes provided (to Prevent Antenna Boardeum) job well done..
Definitely looking at one of these for the truck, but it would make my cb antenna look silly, so I need midland to make a chicken band ghost antenna to go with this for my gmrs.
Thanks for keeping the boring charts interesting with all the random videos. Hilarious and Genius.
Excellent presentation as always, you are still the man. Your video entered into a place where no man has gone before. Great job
I wonder what is inside them, I run the midland antenna and it works great 👍
I wasn't paying attention to my screen and was doing something else near the end of the video then glanced over when I noticed something didn't look right..... That made my day. Absolutely hilarious.

The online oxperts are going to say the difference is because you had the Midland on the left of screen.
cool badge crew checking in. appreciate all these very informative reviews on stuffs. keep it up sir!
You Are The Frankie MacDonald Of The Radio World!! Rock On Man!!
Thanks Randy, for your, once again, great antenna review. Both appear to be effective, almost equally. Many thanks to Josh as well, for his expert SWR explanation. Great comparison video and having josh explain swr was an added benefit to your favorite subscribers . Thanks for that bonus

Josh for the win!!!
I beg for forgiveness since I had to pause the video for a very short period of time! I thought I knew them but nope. Keep on!
Next level "stealth" antenna....Larsen Mirage NMO 450-470...the hockey puck antenna
The girls rubbing sun tan lotion on each other was so natural for my brain that I didn’t even notice I wasn’t looking at an swr meter for 5-10 seconds😂
Yeah whatever Chris lol! +1 for the R33 Skyline drift clip. And the redheads.
I'm going to need the Barometric Pressure at the time of the testing, please 🥺
Really enjoy your videos, your humor is not lost
“I never knew I needed this channel so much. Why did it take me so long to find you?” -Not a so called “Expert”
I know this is an old video, but my god, I cracked up at Josh's entrance 😂
i like your "for the boys" clips
My wife happened to be looking at the computer scream from across the room and proceeded to scream at me during the antenna test session.... Thanks for getting me in the doghouse. I'm banned from your channel for 30-days.
You always put a smile in my face. Macho 👨 man...
Just a bit off-topic, thanks for your GMRS license step by step guide! Googled fcc gmrs license, it was in the top 2 answers! I was signed up and paid up within an hour! I enjoy your humor, and presentation - Keep up the great work 👍
you should mount one on your UV-5R... That would be hilaerial.
Thank you for the comparison. Regardless of what the "experts" say your testing was spot on. It shows real world testing and your humor is enjoyable!! Keep up the good work!!!
You are too funny. I love the clips of the bikini babes and the car crashes. You have done something truly new.
I had to start the video over at around the 12:45 mark... I lost track of what you were talking about
Excellent use of stock footage. Definitely help emphasize the points made here.
Comedy and mayhem with a side of GMRS antenna info - love it
As the not a rubicon’s favorite subscriber ; a licensed gmrs and ham operator . I have done exhausting research and found that the only credentials required to purchase and possess a rig expert device is a healthy bank account …… they are not cheap.
Man, you got some real intelligent friends. And humble as a peacock(peecock)
Thank you for your content.
God forbid that you might show a SmithChart! Those “sad hams” would loose their minds!! 😂
Did you notice that the Melowave is labeled in MelowYellow???
I think the things going interesting when Chris transmit near the ocean, they looks similar but don't have the same "prestacions"...😎
Does Josh have a valid gmrs license? Is he qualified to talk about swr theory on gmrs frequencies?! I have questions.
I am GMRS licensed.
I really like to see companies compete.
Thick, short, and black - just how I love my…antennas
Let's get down to brass tacks. How many rounds do they hold?
I didn’t hear a thing you said after 12:47. Now I have my-jiggle-hurtz.
So, can we take apart each antenna for further comparison if they're the same? The results were quite similar, maybe no two Midlands would be equal I'm values due to manufacture tolerances and differences. So another way to verify is looking at the innards.
I am ignorant and uninformed. However, I am NOT an expert. I watch this channel to become witty, entertaining and erudite.
Did you actually capture the barometric pressure at both locations? As everyone knows air density can impact electron wave propagation. given the difference in elevations, is there anyway to account for gravitational lensing given the distance involved? Signals go faster downhill. Sad Ham irony aside, another great video and solid information!
I’m going to have to watch this one again. Things went blank ate the end.😅
Sorry man, but I lost what you were saying after the 12:45 mark! 🤣🤣
Another great video Randy thanks for all the great videos you have made on this subject of gmrs. I have learned so much from watching them thank you my friend .
Bravo. Delivery impeccable. Everything you do has no peccs. I am happy. And I learn stuff from you.

Battle of the dummy loads! Woohoo! Which one can absorb more energy without exploding?
i love those antennas but i have the browning ghost antenna
Sad hams are indeed sad hams. Nothing like being an elite and excluding people. No wonder the number of HAMs is dropping continually. I don't care if you have a loicense or not, you keep doing your thing man. I value your channel.
Oh my god! The red head!
Wait… what channel is this?
Not a member but may I politely ask, can you please review a Baofeng with a discone antenna. My thoughts were, a discone antenna may let others receive better reception and have more "FARS."
Will this work on a balloon at 40,000 feet that goes off route by force majeure? Asking for a friend😊🇨🇳!
What about the phase of the moon? Deodorant or antiperspirant? Boxers or briefs?
Not to mention Ginger or Mary Anne!
Great vid. Glad to see you are finally unleashing your Randyness.
Keep the antenna comparisons coming. Great content. Thank you.
Midland 5/8 wave and Melowave is 1/4 wave. This didn’t make any difference in the test results. Anyone with a brief explanation?
Now I'm confused. What was the brand of suntan oil that was being used? I mean that was a George Hamilton quality tan.
I'm more interested in your radio antenna cleaning mat.
Did the links for your shirts break? I have tired multiple video links and can't get any of them to work. Love your channel.
Fixed! if you see any other broken links on videos just leave a comment..
This is the updated link: amzn.to/3wQBSZN
Pull that damn film off the Rig Expert pls!!!
i been a fan of Josh for years now ...can i run an old school 6ft whip GMRS i have one on my old pickup 4CB and would love to have 2 fully funtional....Good work Randy thanks
WRWD728 here. Thanks for your videos.
Ham operators never worried about antenna girth
Dude that humor kills me ❤❤❤ 😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣 the chewed up pencil as a pointer. I hate you so much that I love you.
Was that Tiffany the Ming Mole from the John Cadogan's favourite Island? And Josh is an AvE fan too! Starting to see a confluence of the best vloggers in the world.

That pencil pointer is way too clean. Do you even use it? ;)
tooth pick only.
Good to hear you Chris.
We need more info on that read head... Asking for a friend.
Love your “B roll”!
Bro great channel can you make a shirt that says I'm not a ham operator but I play one in mine craft
Excellent comparison, thank you.
😂🤣😂🤣2seconds in lmao god bless Calypso banana puffy sleeves. Be careful with that big black thing😂🤣😂
🖕🖕🖕THE SADS🖕🖕🖕
So anything someone writes you do not like you censor them? Did I get that right you were conveying.
Yes, you got that right. If you dont like it, you are free to go away.

I have to ask, have you got the same results using different radios.with those same antennas? Very curious to know
Was the red head the Baofeng voice👯♀️
Cleavage and antenna science in the same video? I love it.
I'm only here for the affiliate link theatrics
