Dale: I’ve watched each of your videos several times. Your skill at the education of the rider and schooling of the horse is unparalleled. Your calmness is telegraphed to your horse. You Prepare your horse to Position itself for the Transition. You ride with intention and your horses respond with intention. I am a better Horseman because of your gift with horses. Your ability to break a maneuver down into individual movements that when strung together are easily understood by the horse. You are, indeed, a Master Horseman. Bravo! Dr. J. Slate Fleming
Thanks Doc, for all your lofty praise and kind words! I'm glad that you're improving your horsemanship because of our videos; that was our hope when we started doing this. I only hope the videos don't mislead people- it takes a lot of hard work to train a horse and there will be problems and struggles. I guess that's part of the fun. Thanks again for your comments and appreciation.........Dale
Shirley Cooper. Thank you for your support of Dale. Perhaps like you, I anxiously await Dale’s next video. Interestingly, he gives us time to “soak” on each new one, before he posts the next one - a useful educational strategy for the learner, and horse! I look forward to many more. JSF
I liked the way you explained how and what you were doing on that roll back. It takes a horse time to understand just what we are asking. Like everything learn to walk before you run. Thanks! You also say what you are looking for him to pick up the leg you are turning toward. That is what the horse really can see the light go on. That is why he is anticipating. Smart horse and a willing partner.
All your videos are so well explained, as is this important good video!! Thanks so much for your efforts to help us. Good to see Grady Puffin again. He looks like he's grown
I don’t really know who you are but I was looking for a video that could better explain to my beginner friend what I’m trying to teach my horse. you explained this so well and you have very gentle hands and seat. I’ll definitely be checking out other videos of yours :)
Hi Brooklyn- thanks for watching our video, and we're glad you like it! Hope you'll find others on our channel that are helpful to you and your friend.
I love your video on the rollback...of all the videos I've watched yours is the best explained and easiest to understand for a beginner at the manoeuvre. Thank you!
James Fleming: oh yes. Look forward to each. I watch diff videos many times thru time. Do you work with Dale? I definitely need time for new lessons to soak in & get the most out of it.
Sadly, Grady crippled himself while kicking at another horse through a pipe fence and we had to put him down. It was a tough day for us here and it's still hard for me when I think about it. Thanks for your complimentary words.
Hi wolf, that particular bit is no longer being made. It was called a 'Goodwater' bit and was made by Partrade. I will probably do a video on transitional bits sometime in the future. Mainly what you're looking for in a transitional bit is a leverage bit that retains a lot of the lateral capabilities of a snaffle bit. There is a bit made by 'Reinsman' that I also use and it is still being made. It is a Molly Powell barrel racing bit with a flat chain mouthpiece. That bit is available with different mouthpieces, but I would only recommend the FLAT chain mouthpiece. If you need a picture of the bit, let me know and I will get your email address and send you a picture.
Just be aware of how your horse is stopping. It's common for a horse to anticipate the maneuver along the fence and they might try to swing their hindquarters out when stopping or preparing to rollback. Like any maneuver don't drill them excessively.
I love your kind and quiet hands. I wish I lived closer to you, my filly would definitely be visiting you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
You're welcome Amy, and thanks for the kind words!
Love how you break these exercises into small understandable pieces for horse and rider! Thank you!!!
You're welcome- glad you found the video helpful!

Dale, this guy does pretty well for his age and being so young. Ate you gonna show him as an NRHA or NRCHA prospect?

@@dalefredricks6546 I am so very sorry to hear that.

Would be great to tell us the name/maker of the bit you suggest to use. Trying to copy just by looking at your shanks is difficult. Thanks!

Hello, is there anything I should try to avoid if I teach my horse this? :) Thanks in advance!
