I just finished my first "hardcover" Mini Album and used your instructions for the cover. I have to thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial with all the little hints and tips and I love the outcome of my album. Thank you
Hello Michelle!! I am newer to the whole mini album creation world and just discovered your channel and boy am I glad I did! I know you are a pro and have been doing this I think you mentioned over 15yrs! That is amazing! Well I guess that is why YOU are amazing at what you do! I can only imagine how much time and energy you put into creating the video content we all get to watch! So thank you for ALL of what you are doing to share your love and passion for paper crafting! I took this up during the pandemic and wow! There is just so much to learn! But what I discovered is that it is much easier to learn and enjoy this crafting journey if you find a small village of crafty creators on here that are excellent teachers and give easy to follow instructions. I stick with you and a few others for my learning and instructions from and that way I am not all over the place trying to learn 25 different styles of book making. Not sure if that makes sense? At first I was just super excited to discover this craft and was watching and trying so many different tutorials and was overwhelmed. So I quickly realized there is a core village/community of book makers who are the genuine deal who make their books to last and look amazing too! You are definitely one of those people! I also love Country Craft Creations too!!! I just said ALL of that to basically say, Thank you!!!! You are a part of the core group of ppl who have brought such joy to my life during this pandemic when I may have gone crazy had I not discovered you all and this community of amazing crafters who take the time to put these videos out for all of us to enjoy! Hi Michelle! I just made this layflat cover for the 1st time. Your instructions were great. I'm new to this so do you have measurements to make the hinge piece? I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you & stay blessed my friend ❤️
Hi! I’m so glad you like it! I love this cover method! I don’t usually make a hinge system as I usually use an “L” or “waterfall” type system. If you watch some of my album videos you will see how I incorporate this style into my pages. Hi Michelle! Sorry I wasn't reading your txt right. Thank you for sharing the video info for instructions on how to make any size hinge. Just a quick question, what is an "L" page?
I just went through a couple of my videos really quick. This one shows pages with the L hinge that is part of the page and used to adhere the page to the spine. ua-cam.com/video/upi0S-le288/v-deo.htmlsi=743F2dho7pq7cXnA. And then I had forgotten that I did also recently do an album with hinges here. Simple Vintage Berry Fields Album Tutorial, a Country Craft Creations Design Team Project ua-cam.com/video/zrvDLVcitpc/v-deo.html. I hope this helps!
I usually do an “L” hinge that is incorporated into my pages, so that is included in the individual tutorials that I do. I don’t normally do a “Hidden hinge” sort of binding. I hope that you like this method of wrapping your chipboard!
@@michelleallenacreativeoper6112 LOVE the way you wrap the chipboard! I'm definietly going to try that! What is the "L" hinge? Do you show that in one of your tutorials? and what weight cardstock do you use? 80 lb?

Great Tutorial! I have made an album like this using this tutorial. My questions is, if I wanted to make a bigger album, say 8x8 and add more pages how do I know how wide to make the spine?
I usually put 1/2” between the covers and the pages and also 1/2” between pages. So for example, for 4 pages, I would have a 2 1/2” spine, for 5 pages it would be 3”, and so on. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for your support.

It also has the same texture on both sides so that it doesn't have a "wrong" side. I highly recommend it. You can check it out here at countrycraftcreations.com I promise you will love it.
Hi, I’m glad you like the tutorial! I get the Artisan from Country Craft Creations, here’s the link to the cardstock. www.countrycraftcreations.com/collections/artisan-cardstock
I love this method Michelle! So Ingenious yet simplistic giving such straight and even edges. I do have a question regarding hinges. Is there a “rule” as to when to use pocket pages with hinge or when it is ok to use single pages lining them up like a waterfall? I like your extra 1/4” give too! I know if you want to use inserts but what if you aren’t. Can either hinge system work? Thank you for your help.
Hello! First, thank you so much for watching and for the kind comments! I really appreciate it. As for your hinge question...I assume you are meaning the "hidden hinge" system vs. the way I adhere the pages like a waterfall... If you are using heavier pages ( meaning a lot of pockets and flaps, etc) then yes , the hidden hinge would probably be more secure. However, in my albums I have switched to solely using Artisan Cardstock from Country Craft Creations. It is a superior cardstock, 87 lb, high linen content. This paper doesn't rip, tear or split. I also only use wet glue (Art Glitter Glue) to adhere the pages to the spine of my albums. (I realize I am a designer for the company, but before I became a designer I started using that paper and haven't looked back) I have used heavily "added-to" pages to my albums using the waterfall type binding and have had zero problems with any of them. The hidden hinge is a good system, and I have and do sometimes use it, but I find with this paper and glue I really don't "need" to. If you are using lighter paper for your albums (like 65 lb) then I would definitely stick to the hidden hinge system to add strength to the page hinges. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other comments or questions! :)
