I bought this before seeing your review, my finding was that even with fairly thick paint and mica powder it was awesome..... Provided you use FLAT BOTTOMED containers. So I dutifully bought 20 glass jars/bottles was so happy then glass bottom broke!!!! I now mix in a plastic yoghurt pot and transfer to bottle after. Opinion is I wish I had known! Do your research before buying is what I should have done!!
I was just about to buy this thing to stir not prethined mr color lacquers. Im really glad you made this vid and im really glad i decided i should research this thing before i buy it. I was really seconds away from buying it because i convinced myself this would be so awesome and i hate stirring paint. Thanks for saving me the money and heartbreak but now i gotta find something that will actually work.
Ugh, touch controls. This seems handy, but since we're now getting hobby grade vortex mixers (like the Intllab) that take up almost the same amount of room that run on AC power, are push and hold activated... About the only benefit I can see for this one is the ability to power it with batteries. Oh yeah, those hobby grade vortex mixers don't require you to add anything to the bottles, and typically work BETTER if there's already an agitator inside the bottle as it helps break up clumps. I'm kind of biased though as I have a Typhoon vortex mixer, and it can handle almost anything I've gotten it to whrrbrr for me. Vallejo Game Color or Citadel paint? No issues. It'll even handle the 2 Oz Wicked Opaque bottles, or if you give it a bit more time, it can do the mixing work when you're pre-thinning oils into dropper bottles.
Does it reverse spin direction? That would solve the ring problem. The issue I have with vortex mixers is that they only spin in one direction. After a few seconds, instead of the pigments fully mixing and integrating with the solvents, they are just “holding hands” and spinning around together lol not sure if that made sense. Call me old school, but nothing beats the stirring stick and some elbow grease 😂
@@STARSHADOWWOODWORKS yep… paint bottles are smooth on the inside, which makes vortex mixers somewhat ineffective. The reason kitchen blenders get away with this is the container has fins on the inside edges to break up the flow and allow for thorough mixing. Without these, then no true mixing happens, just stuff spinning around all at once.
Use a Jigsaw with a custom made bottle holder and it will shake the paint bottles like nobody's business and the paint will be mixed in seconds. Good review, this device looks good if it was maybe $9.99 deal but I'll wager they want $50.00 for this thing ;)
I'm sure you meant sould not have had ball in the bottle, if anything the ball helped move it. The problem I see is if any thicker than water the bar should be fatter.
@@STARSHADOWWOODWORKS interesting. I imagined an X shaped bar, then the blades of a blender and finally the 'aeration' disc shape (the one that whips up mayonnaise from oil & water, electric hand mixer) I wonder if they experimented with reinventing the blender before settling for a magnetic paint mixer.
@@STARSHADOWWOODWORKS well i guess i will buy it since the only alternative is the hasegawa one but its only for non-dropper bottles (brand i use sells prethinned in droppers), and anything else is 100 usd

I actually like this review because the dude himself is very non bias. Keep up sir! giving this vid a thumbs up!
Thank you. No point in sugar coating.
great review, you just save me from a great disappoinment, guess im going to keep using my regualr badger mixer

Thanks for input ya I got a desk lab style mixer to review in couple days ..more expensive but worth it.

Nope spins one direction only. I see exactly what your talking about.

$19.95 on most shops
Yoo! How you been? Do you still purchase from galactic toys? I feel like the prices for most of their products are cheaper there.
Their prices are good but something has happened and owner doesn't even read messages and few people have had issues with contact.
I mainly work with metallics and if it's not gonna mix the entire way, at least it's gonna make shaking the bottle less of a work out hahahaha
that's really neat
Wish there was better lighting to see the mixing.
Maybe with the silver you should've tried it with the steel ball. Did you remove it when you added the rod?

Great review bud👍
Thank you.
Before I watch, Im calling it a bust. Why? Because I have it lol
Lol
Are you having same issues?
Yo. You changed your name?
Yup finally got my brand set in stone.
2:52-2:53 dave you said it takes two double AA. Haha
35?????? in my region its like 25
Ya I put revision in description that it's only 19.99 from newtype, I was looking at another store originally that had at that price.

Disappointing but more or less what I expected.
Ya seems like anything thicker than water it just can move enough, maybe if rod was thicker.
this mixer is crap. I bought used vortex genie 2 for 100 bucks and it mixes the shit out of my paints. You don't need to put any bits in the bottles
i have this and its sucks ass lol. dont buy it
