Sabaton is a Swedish heavy metal band known for their powerful music and lyrics that often center around historical events, particularly wars and battles. Formed in 1999, the band has built a dedicated following with their unique blend of power metal and storytelling. Sabaton's music is characterized by its anthemic choruses, driving rhythms, and the distinctive vocals of lead singer Joakim Brodén. The band’s dedication to historical accuracy in their lyrics has earned them respect not just as musicians but as educators, using their platform to bring attention to significant events and figures from history.
"Bismarck" is one of Sabaton's most popular songs, released as a standalone single in 2019. The song narrates the story of the German battleship Bismarck, one of the most powerful and feared warships during World War II. The track captures the epic and tragic tale of the Bismarck, detailing its construction, its devastating power, and its eventual demise at the hands of the British Royal Navy. The song's powerful lyrics and intense music reflect the grandeur and the doom surrounding the battleship, making "Bismarck" not just a song but a gripping retelling of a pivotal moment in naval warfare. The accompanying music video, with its cinematic quality and attention to detail, further enhances the impact of the story Sabaton tells through this track.

The skipper at the start, he's the son of the last survivor from Bismarck. The pocket compass engraved with the position of the wreck is a true relic from Bismarck.

it was his clock
@@recordedbattlefield5cheate693 yes, he’s the son of one of the survivors
Holy moly. That’s awesome!
@@swedishgooner6339 actually I think he´s a son of one of the survivors if I´m not wrong
Sabaton are the best history educators around they even got an award for it :D

@@FinnishAl1enomg that is SO cool!
Sabaton have a separate history channel, where they have a historian telling the stories in more detail.
www.youtube.com/@sabatonhistory
yes and there you can hear him (Joakim) speak :)
Their name is a reference to the sabaton, a form of medieval foot armor.
Sabaton is in fact a part of plate armour. It is shoe / foot plate.
The name derives from Sabot a French form of clog

"No bullets fly" and "Night witches" next? Animated versions that is. Loved your reaction!
Oh yes, either of those, and most definitely the animated story versions. I will also add Lady of the Dark and The First Soldier there, for your viewing (and learning!) pleasure.
@@BranwhinI agree, 100%. I would also like to add “Ghost Division” and “To Hell and Back”as well
"Lady of the Dark" too
Animated Story versions =)

So Sabaton also has a "Sabaton History Channel" on youtube (i bet your son can tell you all about) a must do for a follow up on their songs.
Thanks from sweden on your reaction to Sabaton 😍
Thank you!!
Welcome to the Sabaton family.
It's a history channel also containing some music.
Sabaton always pay attention to details and historic accuracy.
The best history teachers there is. The have their own history Channel on UA-cam to deep dive in the topics they sing about.
The video is a collaboration between Sabaton and the video game developers for World of Warships.
If you need a suggestion I can recommend their animated videos and particularly the one for No bullets fly.
But there is so many great songs from them.
I've even seen some actual History Teachers react to Sabaton song's and go I didn't know that.
I probably wouldn’t have slept through history class if they played Sabaton 😂 Thank you for the comment. I love learning about these guys!
Put Sabaton's Christmas Truce in the list. If she liked Joakim's voice so much, that's a no brainer.
Iron Maiden did historical songs before. Manowar and Blind Guardian have songs recounting myths. And Manowar has Guyana...
Sabaton is my favourite band, they are really great! And check some of their live performances... Amazing. Thanks for your reaction!.
Same here!😎🤘🤘😎 Sabaton has been my favorite band since they formed in Falun 1999! Warm and kind regards from Nothern Sweden 🇸🇪🇸🇪
The best history lessons ever
Great reaction, hope to see more Sabaton with you two🤗🤗
GHOST is a Swedish band just as Sabaton. Sabaton has their 25th anniversary this year, and GHOST came around 2008, I think.
Sabaton is also the name of the knight armour that covers the foot.
Sabaton is a deep rabbithole to discover with epic music and storytelling. They do extensive research of the topic before releasing a song to be sure they are accurate of the story, equipment, and so on. They even have a history channel here on YT where they, in collaboration with Indy Nidell, talk about the history behind their songs.
Incredible. So much respect for them!
The coolest history teachers ever. Their material covers topics not normally presented in most American schools. Other examples: "Lady of the Dark", about the most-decorated female combatant in recorded history, and "Lion of the North", about Gustavus Adolphus, King of Sweden in the early 17th century CE.
my first watch of u guys reacting, my son also made me listen to Sabaton. I grew up on the 80´s metal. Ty for a good reaction. Be safe
Loved the Ladys reaction 😂 and I am glad Tommy made you smile... a little bit 👍.

Tommy left Sabaton few months ago to concentrate on his own projects and his own band Majestica and Tobbe Englund who Tommy replaced Rejoined the band
@@aviewfromthestageHello. Lovley reaction as always 😊👍 I got an idea of what you should do if you feel like it! And that is to react to all Sabaton's songs in all the albums they have! What I mean is to go all in with Sabaton, Even if it will take time as you react to other music too!😊 But it makes absolutely nothing if it will take time if you decide to do this journey! Sabaton is a Swedish band with a loooong list of history based music.
Sabaton also has an award winning history channel that gives background to over 120 if their songs (not music award, academic, aimed at education of the public) .
Sabaton videos are often have dedications and/or messages at the end, perhaps not always but... watching to the very end is frequently well worth it.
Animated STORY videos (short Animated history lessons with music videos in them)
No bullets fly, enemy showing mercy to injured aircrew in a nearly wrecked aircraft barely still flying, even escorting them to safety.
Night witches, Young (17-28) female bomber pilots in ww2 fighting the Nazi despite the discrimination they faced and being given obsolete equipment, aircraft ...
Lady of the dark, female fighting alongside men during ww1 and being highly respected and even more decorated.
Red baron, the famous fighter pilot of ww1
first soldier, unlikely French hero in ww1.
Epic ORIGINAL videos.
youjustsaw Bismark, about the sinking of the ship
Christmas truce, about the spontaneous truce in some parts of the western front during Christmas 1914
40:1, about polish soldiers, badly outnumbered (just under 750 in all) facing 42 000 germans, they where BADLY outgunned desperately defending against the German invasion 1939 (with odds actually close to 55:1 they held for 3 DAYS when ammunition and supplies ran out.
Uprising, the Warsaw Uprising against the nazi germans during 1944.
To hell and back, they tell the story of Audie Murphy (highly decorated) and his struggle AFTER the war, so about PTSD and drug addiction that returning soldiers can face.
Fields of verdun, the 300+ day long battle fought there.
Price of a mile, about the battle of Passchendaele
Screaming Eagles, about the battle of the bulge
Live performances
40:1 from poland
Uprising from poland
En livstid I krig live from Göteborg Sweden (in Swedish but there are subtitles) , very heavy again, about thoughts of a young man going to war.
Two covers that are good
Defence of Moscow, self explained
1916 about the devastating battle of the somme in ww1, casualties topped 1 milion if you count both sides, all for 6 miles of ground,
these are just some, there are plenty more.
A sabaton is a footprotector of the old armours of the knights.
Great reaction to my favourite band!🤘 I know what you mean with Joakim's voice... It captivated me as well 6 years ago, along with the music and history lessons... They're stuck with me ever since.. 😄
Greetings from Sweden!🤘🇸🇪
I can’t get his voice out of my head 😂 Thank you for the comment! We’ll be listening and watching more!!
Welcome to the rabbit hole (or foxhole) of Sabaton. Your son - a Sabaton fan? Ok, I hit that button. We will be entertained!
Sabaton have a historic background to their songs that you can read about. They even have a history channel where they break down the history behind the songs.
After this you should listen to The Christmas truce, The Last stand, No bullets fly (animated), and here you get the history in the end of the song, Night witches, Lady of the dark, and 1916.
And read about the history behind the songs first so you get the background to the songs!
Fun fact is that Floor Jansen in Nightwish is married to the drummer in Sabaton.
You should even listen to Nightwish (a symphonic metal band) and their songs Storytime, Ghost Love Score and The Greatest Show on Earth.
This band is amazing.
The Greatest show on earth, it's about the birth of the earth, its evolution and goes in several chapters.
It's amazing.....
NIGHTWISH - The Greatest Show on Earth (with Richard Dawkins) (OFFICIAL LIVE)
It's based on The book 👇👇👇
The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution is a 2009 book by British biologist Richard Dawkins, which was released on 3 September 2009 in the UK and on 22 September 2009 in the US. It sets out the evidence for biological evolution, and is Dawkins's 10th book, following his best-selling critique of religion The God Delusion (2006) and The Ancestor's Tale (2004), which traces human ancestry back to the dawn of life.
hope to see more sabaton reaction
sabaton suggestion:

More Sabaton ! :D
All the songs are small pieces of history !
Keep em coming please 🙏. Great reaction ❤
Please do more songs from Sabaton
We definitely are!!
Sabaton is a Swedish band that writes and sings about Actual historic events, battles, moments of heroism and wars, but hey don't glorify war whatsoever.
They released their 10th studio album last year.
Nice thing about them is that their video's never blocked so it's UA-cam safe. (except for some Wacken video's that gets blocked by Wacken)
If you really want to go down the Sabaton rabbit-hole, I would recommend these:
(These are all from the Sabaton Channel, and they never block videos so it's safe to use)
[live at Woodstock 2012]: Ghost Division, 40:1 and Uprising
[Great Tour Live Videos]: En Livstied I Krig (make sure to turn subtitles on), Red Baron, Swedish Pagans, Primo Victoria, Fields of Verdun, Devil Dogs & Angels Calling
[Lyric videos]: Attack of the dead men, The Final Solution, In Flanders Fields, 82nd All the way, Sparta, Shiroyama, Cliffs Of Gallipolli and The lost betallion
[Music Video's]: Bismarck, Christmas Truce, 1916, Steel Commanders, Defence of Moscow, Livgardet (make sure to turn subtitles on), Fields of Verdun, Rourke's Drift, Screaming Eagles, Uprising, The Future Of Warfare (Building Blocks Video) & Seven Pillars of wisdom
[Animated History Video's]: Night Witches and No Bullets Fly (not animated music video's, the animated history/story video's)
[Covers]: Kingdom Come [Offical video]
and I'm sure people told you but in case, Sabaton have another channel (Sabaton History Channel) where they do a deep dive into the history behind the songs with Indy Nidell.
Also, if you're looking for different, off the beaten path, and yet will rock your socks off, check out "Feuerschwanz - Warriors of the world united" and "Salatatio Mortis - Finsterwacht" (or Darkerguard for the English version)
Thank you for your recommendations! We’re definitely going down the rabbit hole.
I also noted the last two bands. Thank you 👌
Please watch their live stuff to see their true talents. Amazing band
Oh gawd, I want him to say my name too. Love that voice 🤩
lol! Yes!!
Sabaton has another UA-cam channel called Sabaton History where the go into the history their songs are about. Each time you react to a Sabaton song, you should make a companion reaction to you watching the Sabaton History video that corresponds to that particular song. So for this song you would look up "Bismarck" on Sabaton History and you'll be good to go.
No one mentioned it?????? Hmmmm The drummer, Hannes van Dahl is married to Floor Jansen of Nightwish. Hahahahahaha
Christmas Truce is a must. The official music video. NOT the animated video
Sidenote in case you didn't know... The drummer here (Hannes von Dahl) is "Mr. Floor Jansen."
It's rumored that the legs dangling when they walk up the stairs are Floors.
Sabaton are so talented! If you want to hear another attractive voice, I recommend you checking out Geoff Castellucci. He is a LOW bass singer with a gorgeous voice ❤
He's an independent artist who doesn't copyright block, so any copyright claim you can just challenge and it will get released.
Thank you! We will check him out 😊
A "Sabaton" is the foot part of a suit of plate armor.
The wreck of Bismarck was discovered on 8 June 1989 by Robert Ballard, the oceanographer responsible for finding RMS Titanic. Bismarck was found to be resting on her keel at a dept of approximately 4,791 m (15,719 ft), about 650 km (400 mi) west of Brest. 48°10′N 16°12′W
My favorites, because they’re based on a view of war that we don’t usually get, would be:
Great War
Price of a Mile
To Hell And Back (about Audie Murphy, named after his autobiography)
En Livstid I Krig (have to turn subtitles on, but totally worth it)
The English version of the last one is called A Lifetime of War, also worth a listen, but different perspective and lyrics.
fun fact for you I know you reacted to Nightwish already, Sabaton's drummer is Hannes Van Dahl he is the husband of Floor Jansen of Nightwish
Sabaton - Christmas Trues is mega ! Show it on !
When the Bismarck emerges from the fog….THAT was badass.
UA-camr Extra Credits did a series called “Hunt The Bismarck” and when he reads Churchills’ orders…. Chills down my spine
“Sink The Bismarck. Sink The Bismarck. Sink The Bismarck”
Epic story of tracking and sinking the terror of the seas.
Ghost and Sabaton grew up 5 hours (car travel) from each other. In Sweden.
Wowww.
Got my sub, like your chemistrey.
Throwing Sabaton in too:
Red Baron (Animated Story Video)
Wolfpack
Nuclear Attack
and of course every other Sabaton song.
You got quite a jurney there.
You should do other Sabaton songs, 1916 and Christmass Truce are quite emotional, En Livstid I Krig is a great live song (you'll need the subtitles for this one). They also have several songs animated by Yarnhub, like Night Witches, No Bullets Fly, Lady of the Dark, and Red Baron.
If you feel interested in the story behind the songs, there's the channel Sabaton History explaining the history behind all their songs
Oh wow... You're gonna have such a good time ahead, if this was the first song.
Yes first song! Can’t wait!
Sabaton and Ghost is both Swedish bands / productions
So for those who don’t know a battle cruiser is a British class of warship during the latter stages of ww1 1920 where due to the massive and vast amounts of territory’s that the British empire covered, it was later found that ships or to be more accurate battleships were too slow and TOO BLOODY EXPENSIVE 😂😂 with a grand total of about sixteen battleships each being the equivalent in terms of cost and resources the same as a US super carrier in which the US currently fields about eleven super carriers and you can imagine the slight drain on the British coffers 😂, and so battle cruisers were considered a somewhat intermediate stopgap between a cruiser and and a battleship either exchanging things such as the usual
Armor
Speed
Firepower
However since the royal navy had such a large area of territory to control and cover the British opted for speed and firepower usually at the cost of armor, that being said they could take a hit but was no better or worse than a cruiser whilst being fast enough to be deployed or relocated anywhere much faster than anyone else giving the British a decisive tactical advantage allowing the British to pick and choose their battles as well as being fast enough to chase down their enemies or be significantly fast enough to ((tactically withdraw)) that being said due to the unfortunate designs of early and even modern warships which utilizes a carousel style of ammunition storage which means that there’s essentially a three floored tube filled with high explosives which is why whenever you see battleship wrecks their turrets have either popped off much like a champagne cork or more accurately a Soviet tank where its ammunition goes off in a cook off causing the turret to fly about ten meters into the air before crashing back down and the point I’m making is that whilst ships like the battlecruiser hms hood was well armed and armored unfortunately its upper deck armor was nothing more than an inch thick piece of steel along with the turrets equally unarmored ammunition magazines which unfortunately when faced with plunging fire like a Mexican hopping over a fence rather than by breaking through it, the ATV/ quadbike sized shell fired from the Bismarck being both armor piercing as well as timer fused meant that a large explosion resulted in an unfortunately much larger magazine filled with over a hundred tonne of high yield explosives In effectively a confined space which in turn resulted in a massive explosion being big enough to actually lift the Hood about a foot out of the water due to the massive explosion where a German shell fell into the hoods secondary gun magazine, penetrated into the powder magazine and unfortunately exploded resulting in the hood being literally ripped in half, and out of a crew of about three thousand men on board and the ships car, only four out of those three thousand men survived 😢.
The song is about the last days of Bismarck. It was the German main battleship and was hard to kill. All their songs are about history.
Welcome to Sabaton.
Thank you 😊
You can't go wrong with any song of theirs you chose to listen to. I absolutely love these guys. They have a history channel as well if you want to learn more about the songs and the history behind them. They stick to the facts. They take no sides. There are so many songs of true stories about people and events we have never learned about, and they bring them back into the light. They honor all soldiers on all sides for the sacrifices they made through time. FYI; always listen to their videos to the very end. They always add a little something to them, a message or a bit more of the history (ie: No Bullets Fly [you want a box of tissues nearby for that one]. If you continue down the Sabaton rabbit hole you won't be disappointed. Also, as a side note. Floor Jansen of Nightwish is married to their drummer. It is rumored but not confirmed [that I know of] that it is Floor's legs swinging in the video as they go up the steps to the office.
Sabaton - No Bullets Fly is mega
Lots of interesting facts about the sinking of the Bismarck but one of my favorites is that it was crippled by a biplane which pretty
much was made of fabric and and a metal airframe. Despite this the Swordfish was extremely effective throughout the war.
As a side note here, the name they gave the boat at 2:28 is taken from an older song by the band, from the older setup of the band.
Sabaton sings about war history, the events, the people, and other stuff that happened during the time, they also have a separate channel here on youtube where they go more into depth about the meaning with the song called Sabaton History.
If you want an awesome live song with them you should react to en livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) live Scandinavium Gothenburg 2020.
The album Carolus Rex they had released during that time is about a part of Swedish history called the era of great power (stormaktstiden in Swedish) from when Sweden was a much bigger nation with ambitions of expanding.
The album was released with both a Swedish and English version, the difference being that the Swedish one tells the story from our/a Swedish soldier's view and the English more from an outsider's view of the war.
It was the Swedish version they played at that show so be sure you have the subtitles on, I was at that show and all I can say is that you will not regret it.
Also, sabaton is a part of a knight's body armor that covers the fot if you go in to what the name means.
I’d recommend either 1916 or Christmas Truce from Sabaton, they have string messages, like all of their songs but those stick out to me
In about a week we're gonna be hitting up BOTH of those songs!!
@@aviewfromthestage these are great songs and very emotional, hope you enjoy 🫶
You need to check out Sabaton’s cover of 1916 by Motörhead. It’s epic!!
They call their style ”History metal”
Nice thanks! Great to see you enjoy Sabaton! I like pretty much everything from the Heroes and Last Stand Albums... My suggestions: Resist and Bite, No Bullets Fly, The last Stand, Winged Hussars, Rorke's Drift
Joakim's voice better on 1916 and Christmas truce
Awesome reaction and as a swede i loved Sabaton since 2008. Saw them live 2010, 2011,2012, 1519 and every year after that heck they are awesome and im a guy that seldom go to concert because i hate crowds. Im also a history buff though and the enjoyment and camraderie as a history buff i get listening to Sabaton is Beyond all imagination. I wouldnt have met my spouse whitout Sabaton. Sabaton also help educate people on history. If more people understood history the wars we have been having the last 80 years would not have happened in that way.
No doubt... and that is AMAZING that you met your spouse with the help of Sabaton!!
A Sabaton is metal piece of foot armour. And I highly recommend you check out En livstad i Krig (subtitles on!!), Last Stand, Christmas Truce, 1916 and Soldier of Heaven
Next reaction of Sabaton I recommend the animated version of "No Bullets Fly". 🙂 Oh, and if you liked the guitar solo, check out Tommy Johansson he makes covers of other songs (with a twist), he also has his own band Majestica, but I think you will find his cover channel more fun.
Sabaton has a very long list of songs that are spectacular. Sad thing is that Sabaton has been around for 25 years, and no airplay on American radio, yet they are just as popular as Metallica, if not more.
That’s crazy! We need to spread the word about this amazing band. I already told several friends here in America.
Primo Victoria is the name of another Sabaton song about the D-Day Invasion
Please do react again 1916 and No bullets fly - Sabaton ❤
We definitely will be! Thank you!’
The Winged Hussars is another great one.
A must is En livstid i krig, live Gothenburg. With CC!!
Sabaton is from sweden, that song is in swedish.
On May 27, 1941, the German battleship Bismarck sank after being hit by torpedoes from the cruiser Dorsetshire. Of the estimated 2,300 crew members on board, only about 110 survived
British ships rescued 110 survivors, including four officers, but left hundreds of German sailors behind after spotting what they thought was a U-boat.
Sabaton is part of a knights body armor
If you wonder about the video, and the ships, that was all done by Wargaming, with the CG ships from World of Warships.
Primo Victoria and this are two of their best
TRy this Sabaton video and try not to cry. Another WWII subject. Sabatons drummer is married to Floor Jenson.
Just found you Sabaton are Swedish band they sing about military history they do not take sides and are celebrating there 25th anniversary this year This video was done in conjunction the gaming channel World of warships and have their own history channel here is the link to the Sabaton History channel on the the Bismark ua-cam.com/video/r5D3wSqdIG4/v-deo.html
Your son have real good taste 😂❤
He does!!
Sarajevo is my fave song by them.check it out
That's one of my son's favorite songs! And we are gettin to it!!
My first Sabaton song was "Christmas Truce" (offical music video) and they the rest is history.
You need to play all videos in full, as there are guest performers, outtakes from the videos and dedications.
This video was made by "war of gaming" who created world of warships and world of tanks. The team behind the Bismark video also made "Steel commanders" which features Tina "Wonder Woman on the cello" Guo.
Christmas truce. To the end and watch the names
Sabaton is my second favorite band of all time (right behind Nightwish). Powerwolf would be my third favorite, then Disturbed and Five Finger Death Punch are four and five.
Their name “Sabaton” is taken from a piece of plate armor called a “Sabaton”
It is meant to be a joke, they’re a metal band named after metal footwear that kicks ass. The joke is literally “kickass Metal”
The armored boots a medieval knight would wear is called a sabaton. The armor could be plate or mail. Thats why the "S" in Sabatons logo has those overlapping plates.
Sabaton is an awesome band. One of my all time favorites. There is so many possible recommendations for songs and other people will recommend most of them. So I will instead recommend something older. One of the first songs they made after they decided to focus on telling history and going for the choir like sound.
Primo Victoria
Just make sure to NOT watch the official music video. Sound effects of the video drown out the music itself. So it is crap. They definitely learned the lesson because later videos, like Bismarck, is awesome.
SABATON Woodstock Poland 2012 Live "Uprising " and "40:1"
Please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
Please, if u continue down the Sabaton rabbit hole, no Bullets Fly animated story, the lady of the dark animated story, the night Witches animated story, 1916 bring the tissues, Christmas truce bring the tissues. The drummer is married to Floor of NightWish. The man with the compass is the son of the last survivor at the end of the video. Member of the Sabaton and NightWish Army.
Sabaton tells of war heroes, nameless dead who never became heroes and soldiers who become traitors to save their own humanity. Sabaton tells of war in all its facets.
The Bismarck was sunk on her maiden voyage. Her first battle was against the British HMS Hood, which symbolised the superiority of the British navy. After 15 minutes, the Bismarck hit the Hood's ammunition depot, and a further 15 minutes later the pride of the British Navy was sunk. Churchill then had the Bismarck chased by every ship he could spare. A torpedo plane managed to hit the Bismarck's weakest point, the rudder. The ship became unmanoeuvrable and was unable to change course. The British were able to confront her and after a long battle she sank, burning and badly damaged. For a long time it was disputed who had sunk her. The British claimed it for themselves, but the German officers disagreed. The captain is said to have sunk the ship because of the fires and the damage. After three dives, it was established that there had only been one breach in the hull and the crew had got it under control. The captain had sunk the Bismark and the ship remained undamaged.
go over to their history channel sabaton history also a the video production ws done by a small gaming company may or maynot have heard of it they have a couple fun video game world of warships and world of tanks they teamed up with sabaton on another song primo victoria heres a few other songs

Sabaton history doesn't rock ... it curb stomps.😆
To evaluate Sabaton, you need to know what they are singing about. But sitting and nodding your head to the beat of the music is not very...
History with a beat 😊
