I would start rattling off artists but I know my point is irrefutable. Drake never suggested he was the author of any style. He’s always been respectful of the culture’s influence on him. His error wasn’t believing that he was bigger than the culture. His error was believing that he was no longer a visitor. He miscalculated Kendrick Lamar’s creative ability to highlight that Drake was an outsider. Kendrick drew a distinct line in the sand that separated pop from hiphop. I agree with almost everything you said, but is Drake really a lyricist? I have seen some of notebooks when he was young but lately all of the ghost riders have been getting exposed, now we know that, Drake did not write Mob Ties. Hip Hop is Black American Culture and Drake is playing both sides of his lineage. There have been non black contributors and I have no problem recognizing that and their contributions. Hip Hop, like many other Black American creations is being watered down or usurped just like with jazz, blues, beat bop, country, rock, funk, disco, r&b , electro , etc. This makes you point about the cultural shift. Kendrick makes a reference that “ OVO ni@@as have no heritage, they come to America “. That line is powerful because many black people from other countries say we have culture or heritage yet they dress like us, talk like us, walk like us, and get their hair cut like us. Kendrick for his diss picked two of the most famous black American soul artist to start both diss with, not a coincidence. This is just one layer but a very important layer in this conversation.

u simply can't move black culture the way black ppl do, drake doesn't have influence on the culture like that - most colonizers don't... nobody wants to dress like him, nobody wants to talk like him either... ppl like drake's music, but he's not influential like jim jones or jay z... u see what pusha t did to that boy, it shouldn't be that easy to get knocked off (or ur team to throw in the towel - however u wanna look at it)... take busta douglas, he got his ass whooped RIGHT AFTER takin the title... it means he shouldn't have been there in the 1st place, the more drake goes back & forth with real MCs the more he looks like an industry plant...
