I just realized that this story is a Lovecraftian rehash of The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street, arguably one of the best Twilight Zone episodes. I've never encountered a cross between the two, and I think it worked well, though more details would've made it better. Still, nothing beats Lovecraftian horror in my book: it's a subgenre every horror fan knows, yet worthwhile entries are scarce. Well-done!
I recognized the title and as it played out it was very "Maple Street". Instead of Lovecraft, however, I thought of Pitch Black! But you're right--cosmic horror fits in almost any genre. It itself is usually some degree of fantasy or SF.
Science fiction social commentary. Dig it. So much like human nature, we're more likely to attack each other than we are attacking the issues that got us to that point. I love aloof/arrogant antagonists.
They could have just pointed at their house, the two who pointed at the same house would be the only suspects and could be incapacitated. Anyway, great story and great narration.
Ahh “will the real Martian please stand up”. Nice new take on it. I believe this over Maple St. because of the extra person, it’s the same sorta thing but in a dinner.
Why would a stranger be a problem they haven't presented any aggression andtill the group bacame outwardly hostile and a potential threat? Human behavior is destructive and counter productive.
Yeah. And then it turns out the aliens are real, they just let everyone grow paranoid on their own before they moved in. Oh, spoilers, btw, everyone. D;
I'm not finished yet but it sounds like a modernization of the classic Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters are due on Maple street", that's likely why.
I started this about three months ago, got halfway when my phone decided to back out of the UA-cam app. Finally I found it and could finish it (it was on auto so I was just gaming as these played)
Have always enjoyed reading the story, but the some of the readers need more acting or voice lessons. I would have given it a thumbs up, but I stand on what I said.
The device transported them and their surroundings to another planet and possibly another dimension. Because it was so dark, they thought an EMP had wiped out the city. As they argued, the local life began to attack them in the dark. When the planet's green sun rose, the survivors realized what had actually happened and where they were.

I was thinking the episode, “will the real Martian please stand up”, but I agree, similarities to both.
Cobalt Sthenia The title made me think of that Twilight Zone also. 2 great minds.
The story is "will the real martian" but the frame and setting of it is Maple Street. Regardless it's pretty interesting.
Make that three 👆🏻

Very nice modernization of this story! Well done indeed. Nice acting, as well. A+! I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks guys!
Science fiction social commentary. Dig it. So much like human nature, we're more likely to attack each other than we are attacking the issues that got us to that point.

I kept waiting to hear "and don't call me Shirley."
N Bierhals Hahaha totally!
They could have just pointed at their house, the two who pointed at the same house would be the only suspects and could be incapacitated.
Anyway, great story and great narration.
This was one of the best stories I have ever heard!
If you like this you should listen to Phycosis also by Matt Dymerski ( im 7years late but okay lol)
Loved the story, and all the narrators were wonderful. Thank you alll for the time spent.
Lol all the entertainment technology we have, and we still wind up listening to radio stories :) it kind of cool though
That's what makes it so great! We are all listening to the same AUDIO but we have a different VISUAL in our heads!
This is from an episode of the original Twilight Zone series from 1960. The name of the episode is "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street."
I'm amazed by you guys bravo just excellent all the time!! Keep up the great work!!
Ahh “will the real Martian please stand up”. Nice new take on it. I believe this over Maple St. because of the extra person, it’s the same sorta thing but in a dinner.
This was freaking awesome, best collaboration I ever heard!
Firs.... oh, wait.
Wa wa wa wa waaaaaaaaaaa
AMAZING!!!!!!!! 10000 Thumbs up!
May just be me, but I found the story rather confusing at times. I do love the voice actor who voices Professor Grady.
The professor sounds like Dumbledore
Ben Love sounds like Jeff Goldlum
He does sound like Micheal Gambon!!!!
The main narrator for mr.leaves is here
Interesting take on a classic Twilight Zone episode. Nice twist at the end.
And best Twilight Zone episode!
Why would you assume that a Japanese-American guy would have that ridiculously stereotyped accent?
Why would a stranger be a problem they haven't presented any aggression andtill the group bacame outwardly hostile and a potential threat? Human behavior is destructive and counter productive.
25:30 sounds like they're running a train. CHOO CHOO!!
were wally 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is just like the twilight zone episode. With the neighborhood thinking someone was an alien and killing each other.
Yeah. And then it turns out the aliens are real, they just let everyone grow paranoid on their own before they moved in. Oh, spoilers, btw, everyone. D;
Sarah's voice actor kinda messed things up. Her voice just didn't fit nor sound sincere
Agreed. She seemed completely unphased by their predicament
Like a soulless Kardashian
I completely agree. I found her voice annoying and her affect is out of place.
The ending had similarities to an Outer Limits episode, the 1999 series.
The man who plays Professor Grady sounds so much like the narrator for the Exo 'Mama' video
When the skies and the grounds were one, the legends...
I love suspense stories
Grady sounds just like Dumbledore!
We wish Barry Bowman was a mythical wizard. That would be awesome! He'll have to settle for being a wizard on the microphone. :D
I can't believe Professor X played everyone like that.
My town's main storefront road is named maple avenue....
Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!
Why isn't this a movie????
I'm not finished yet but it sounds like a modernization of the classic Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters are due on Maple street", that's likely why.
Because Hollywood would give it the Hollywood treatment and it wouldn't be as creepy as it is here
Wow, that was one of the most dissatisfying and unenjoyable stories I've listened to so far. Can't say the same about voice acting though.
Clearly by the second attack it's a SCP not a human
So did they all end up on Cthulhu's Rilyeh considering the references of tentacles and 'green' sun?
Already creepy since my street that I live on is called Maple Avenue
welp, they just swept Ohara's murder under the rugs. XD
I started this about three months ago, got halfway when my phone decided to back out of the UA-cam app. Finally I found it and could finish it (it was on auto so I was just gaming as these played)
WAIT, WHAT???
Have always enjoyed reading the story, but the some of the readers need more acting or voice lessons. I would have given it a thumbs up, but I stand on what I said.
Will the real Martian please stand up on maple street 😁
Wasn't this an episode of the twilight zone?
I bet it's the professor
So it was the horse all along?
Ok, im embarrassed lol the ending confused me ... Wut happend?

*Screams in a Japanese accent*
this some twilight zone shit
Wow, the students are an unfortunate reality. A bunch of sheep following the opinion/accusations of others.
I'm part way through but I think O'Grady's Suss
CCP approves
Nice story... Sarah's voice slightly annoying... but okay story.......
it sounds like an oregy lol
