    The smaller EDC pocket organizers are outstanding! My wife loves the easy access they provide. Also the LokSak bags are very useful to keep first aid items organized and dry. Great job on this project!! Thanks to TT for being a good sport.

    I'm not a prepper but the first thing I would do is a weekly calendar of the places where I usually find myself. Also evaluate the risks that exist in the city or region, such as floods, earthquakes, power outages, etc.. and with this information would develop my EDC, because the most likely, is that some of the events, i go to be stuck in some of these building. Also make sure to locate the materials at the building you can use, construction risks, exhaust points, etc, as well as know what tools bring in the EDC, Once outside you can use a backpack with more resources you have placed in your vehicle.

    Regular purse. Little mesh type (see thru) cosmetic bags to sort by category. 1 bag: bandaids, water purfication tablets, backpack filter straw, rolled up gallon ziploc/empty (to hold found water), mini lighter, book matches, mini box pills, mini multi tool or swiss knife, etc. 2nd bag: toiletries/lipstick, tampons, 1 pad (for 1st aid too), pouch kleenex, ear plugs, etc. I carry a small purse with several bags. Can toss into larger bag if I need to carry bottles water or more items..in a pinch.

    Most department stores and bigbox stores like Target sell sets of matching makeup bags in several small sizes. Some may have the elastics to hold make up brushes that can be repurposed. These usually come in clear plastic and girly colors that a feminine professional would not mind being seen. These makeup bags are made to be washed so they are water resistant and sturdy. Different colors could be used for categorizing...fire, food, water, tools, first aid, and then the everyday essentials.

    There is a Gerber Splice multitool available in pink with a matching flipper design pink gerber knife combo package. Have seen it at around $20.
    The Splice is not a bad scissor based keychain multitool, plain edge blade, serrated blade, 2d philips screwdriver / file, flat screwdriver / bottle opener. For the money it's great and it's PINK!

    wow..that is a good strong bag!! I saw and hear are my comments. TT, is ahead of many ppl I know whom have been on this survive journey for awhile. Lets see.Handsanitzer makes good firestarting gel..used tea bags good for burns, and blisters, Mirror is a good communication device, sewing kit, the needle and thread good for treating blisters, tampons of course is good for blood absorbtion for wounds, and nose bleeds. all I would recommend besides UP's mods, are mini color cases for each dept. :-)

    I watched this a couple of nights ago with my girlfirend and she had some useful comments.
    1, Womens clothing seldom allow for stuff to be put in the pockets or there are no pockets at all. Because of that women will stuff all that we - the boys - put in our pockets, in the purse.
    2, According to her, most women want to work the bag one handed, since they are too busy doing mutiple stuff with the other hand. Velcro or zipper is a no no. Apparently magnetic- or snap clusures are the shiznit.

    Might wanna put a space blanket and a heavy duty 50 gal trashbag 5mil for shelter. You can ranger band them together. Also maglite has their mini in pink. And cabelas sells a pink multi tool fairly inexpensively.

    I would recommend ditching the check book and using plastic with some emergency cash and downsizing to a much smaller wallet. I carry a small change purse with my essential debit, id and insurance cards with a little cash. It is less of an attraction to a mugger or pickpocket and in an emergency can be slipped into a pocket on your person. We can still be feminine and stylish, but be safe at the same time.

    cuz she likes pink so much i would reccomend the pink handeled delica FFG for her EDC knife. for a light the 4sevens preon 1 (special PFI pink edition) might be an option if it is still available. if she doesn't want to spend so much money on a light i would also say streamlight stylus pro or microstream. great lights for the money!
    for an ultralight MT u could take a look at the victorinox minichamp. also has all the essential 'manicure-tools': nailfile, nailcleaner, cuticlepusher and scissors

    Awesome! I'm excited to see where this series goes so I can share with my wife as well! And great job, by the way. Really good idea assessing here current status before delving into something she might be totally unprepared to use, or something that is redundant and wasteful. I love the 'surprise inspection' aspect to catch her in her natural state. :-) I can't wait to view the next one in queue...!

    The pepper spray needs to be in a place where she can grab it instantly. Keychain pepper spray is great because if you're carrying it you can always just say that you were digging for your keys. Heck, maybe I should get some too.

  • @TheUrbanPrepper
    @TheUrbanPrepper  13 років тому

    @THERoxyStarr Thank you SO much for responding! I was hoping to hear from you. Yes, I think a Micra or Squirt would be a great addition, as well as the Microstream. Bic lighter is also an item I would like to include. I think she doesn't really want a defensive knife, so perhaps the utility blade with the Leatherman will be sufficient for her needs. Yes, I do like modular systems, however I am not planning on forcing my preferred system on her. I think I will just do some tweeks to the purse. :)

    I'll be interested to see what you and your female viewers come up with. I have some suggestions, but some things are best left to the "women folk". That being said, she couldn't go wrong with a few more hair bands for that beautiful mane. Good luck and I'll be looking forward to the finished product. What a sweetie!

    Something I noticed, She had to dig to find her mace. If she has it and someone is going to attack her for whatever reason. Digging in her purse is not going to work. When seconds count you can't waste minutes. That personally concerns me. Because, I had a friend that carried mace and couldn't get to it and she was attacked by a guy in what appeared to be a 'normal situation'. Until, it went bad. Very bad. I won't go into more detail. But, you get the idea. Add in basic self defense training.

  • @Efedra42
    @Efedra42 13 років тому

    Too bad the leatherman squirt S4 got retired it would have looked pretty in pink as a keychain multi-tool. Sissors, nail file, tweezers, knife and 3 screwdrivers, that was a sweet tool. You may still be able to find some on the secondary markets.

  • @hot2warm
    @hot2warm 13 років тому

    A Photon PH 021 X-light Micro. Leatherman Juice S2. Zippered make-up bag for makeup. Pepper spray is all she needs for defense without specialized training (but she should train with the pepper spray as well!) or risk of hand to hand combat as with a knife or striking weapon. A good cigarette lighter. An Altoid tin survival kit (a proper one weighs less than all the lipsticks she currently carries so eliminating those things will free up the weight )

  • @SPrestwood

    Zip-locs can be a cheap way to organize like items like the medical and lipstick. the mace should always be in a quick grasp location.

    @THERoxyStarr Consider the Fenix E05. $20 and very nice in the hand. Won't come apart and gives you a flood. Unbelievably light and won't accidentally turn on or come apart (like the Nanostream has done on me). Takes standard AAA batteries also. CHEERS!

    @revisualize Good point regarding the pepper spray. Having that quickly accessible will definitely be key. Also, I'll take a look at "operationsmedia". For the purpose of this video, I will probably focus more on just the items and not on knowledge being more important (although that is absolutely true).

  • @revisualize
    @revisualize 13 років тому

    The youtube channel operationsmedia is doing some really good stuff with their Free Tactical Tips videos. Mind you "Nothing can replace training" but, if you were to run some drills or do some mini-scenarios. I think that would also be a big help in figuring out an EDC, in regards to the personal protection aspect. Good Luck. :)

    I use different Ipsy bags to hold my make-up, feminine products, emergency kit (trauma), emergency kit (bandaids, meds, nail clippers, tweezers, etc), snacks, hygiene (oral, hair, etc), and use a Kipling Defea to carry all. Keep pepper spray in my car keys and a gun concealed in the purse.

    As far as water filtration goes I've found two very good options.There are a a couple charcoal filtration bottles. My favorite being the "water bobble" which runs about $10 and is available in 18.5 oz and 32oz and I also picked up a cheaper version at Walgreens for around $7. They are both designed with girls in mind and don't look the least bit tactical. I carry the cheap one from walgreens everyday because it has a big enough opening for ice.

    I had never really shopped specifically for survival stuff for my purse but actually I do have some good things and bad things. I have my phone, charger cord, wallet, five different sizes of crochet hooks, band aids, tooth brush, full size tube of toothpaste, comb, harmonica, germx, perfume two lotions, lighter, folded up plastic grocery bag (surprisingly comes in handy a bunch), big sewing kit, pocket knife, wipe, business cards, medicines (my prescriptions, ibuprofen, Benadryl, heart burn med, allergy eye drops (over the counter)),3 pads, full size pair of scissors, misc papers, hair ties, leftover ball of yarn, small candle, matches, lots of lip glosses, check book, a book to read, four small notebooks, 7+ pens, small tin tub of lip bomb, five different bottles of nail polish, nail kit (includes tweezers, metal file, clippers, nail buffer), compact mirror, some makeup, a couple of bills, regular clear tape on one of those plastic dispensers. And hmm that's it. So what do you think? What else might be good to have, just in case? Of and I don't live in the city, I live in a more country area in north east tennessee, very close to the Cherokee national forest.

    Are you kidding, UrbanPrepper? Maxpedition sells nothing BUT purses! The guys just can't bring themselves to calling them that, however. As we've said: you can call a fanny pack anything you want, but it's still about as cool as a pocket protector at the end of the day. :o) GREAT VID... really like your style. TT is awesome (as usual).

  • @TonicLime1
    @TonicLime1 13 років тому

    Leatherman Juice comes in a really pretty purple! I am saving up for one! Also Kershaw has nice looking knives that come in lady friendly colours. I wish maxpedition would come out with some other colours for the edc organizers but I have a feeling that not gonna happen. lol.. I have one in black and that works for me. For my edc first aid kit I purchased a little water proof bag and it lays flat at the bottom of my purse.

    Hey UP and Tactical Temptress, I was looking for a good way to organize my own things in my backpack on a budget. What I came up with is some clear vinyl cosmetic bags by Soho at Kmart, they cost me $5 each. They're perfect as it allows me instant recognition of each bags contents. sewing kit, first aid, water purification, radio accessories, fishing hooks and line, etc.
    They are approximately 5"x7"X2" and obviously much stronger than say just using a zip-lock bag to store loose items.

    never start with the bob. lol. good call. you need an edc first. i dont have a bob yet or backpack or pouch but im working on it. purse raid. you never know whatll youll find. a sewing kit is a good idea. the last hotel i went to didnt have any. bummer. so now i carry one when traveling. cuz i have safety pins in case i have a wardrobe malfunction. i too recommend a sak classic. that was my only multitool for years. used the scissors all the time. clip nails. beard. etc..

    A leatherman micra (or other small MT with scissors and tweezers), a bic lighter, an emergency poncho should at least be included.
    And why not a strip of water purification pills. Couple that with some condoms ( for water carry - not sex- well not necessarily ) For lipstick choose 3 common colors. Maybe a cell phone (as back up - or extra charged battery).? For organizing she could consider some zip lock bags, group here stuff. Just my initial thoughts...

    @THERoxyStarr the sak classic is an excellent choice. it was my only multitool for years. i used the scissors all the time. strings. nails, beard trimmer. tweezers for the stray eyelash that bugs the crap out of me. and its so small and cheap why not. i have several of them too. victorinox rehandles them for free just send them in and they do it for free. the address is in the paperwork that comes with them. they even put in new tweezers and toothpicks for free too. once

    can cross over into first aidone thing she does have is feminine hygine, great tthing about it is pads and tampons make awsome emergency blood stoppers and that can cross over to first aid, the pepperspray is also good but should be hung on the outside of the purse to make it more accessible. Be very careful carrying any medication in a perscription bottle that still has a lable on it, either rip the lable off or use a different container.

    @JanniGuldeIversen 10 років тому +2

    I'm currently working through your channel as a new subbie, and I also know that this is an old video, and there proberbly is an update later in the list. However, since you asked about women-viewvers, well, I'm that. I think I found you through one of your ovn EDC videos (can't remember though) but I'm quite alot into that too, but my taste in "stuff" is semi tomboy, so I don't mind stuff looking "masculine"-ish. I defenately have additions, but I think I'll watch trough first to see if they have already been added. If not, I'll comment by then.
    Also, it seems so strange and quit harsh to hear about your recommendations of having knives/amo/teasers/guns in a handbag. But then again, in Denmark (where I am) we arn't allowed to wear even pepperspray. Not even the police can wear pepperspray legally. Its seems a bit riddicolus. ^^"

    • @TheUrbanPrepper
      @TheUrbanPrepper  10 років тому

      First off, thank you for subscribing! I hope you enjoy the videos. Yes, there is an update. You can search for the “TacticalTemptress Purse EDC Project” for an update to this video. I don’t remember ever recommending carrying ammo/knives in a handbag. I try really hard to have my channel focus on the other aspects of prepping outside of firearms. I think of a folding knife as a tool first, not a weapon. For women in the USA, I think it is wise to have some type of pepperspray as a non-lethal form of self-defense. It’s a shame that it is illegal in Denmark. I am looking forward to reading your input in future videos!

    • @JanniGuldeIversen
      @JanniGuldeIversen 10 років тому

      TheUrbanPrepper (Sorry for looong comment) Well, you waren't exactly recomending weapons, but you mentioned her proberbly not wanting to carry a gun to work in her bag along with mentioning knives/amo etc. It just stood so much out to me, because as I told, we don't have it. I usually do carry a little knife, as you for practical use (slicing apples to be more precise), but even for that, rules here restricts to a blade of max 7 cm, must be a folding knive, must need two hands to unfold and must not be able to be locked in out-folded position. Well, lots of rules.
      I also get you point of carrying "non-lethal self-defense", for my part that would be me - 6-7 years of karate hopefully thought me something, though I hope to never use it of course.
      I really enjoy your videos, and as I mentioned, I'm working my way through from the back to the front. I never knew there was a word for my nerdy hobby of "creating the "perfect bag" kit (prepping). I've always been into carrying as much helpfull tools/things/products as possible, using as little space as possible, so this is absolute candyland for me :) I can't belive I didn't stumble upon this before. I also really enjoy your mainly practical view/sollusions, since I've pratically search through all the stuff from the "girl world" (via the beauty community), and while I am a girl, and some tips were usefull for me, I just dosn't do it for me. They do not cover the other areas I also like to prep for. Those bits and buds we don't think about needing, but find realy usefull when the situation is there, or those things others ask for. You bring a whole other aspect of that to me :) I'm sure theres a community for that too, that I havn't seached trough, but I like your approch to things.
      Proberbly the sum for this entyre novel/articel wonna-be-comment thing is: Thank you for good content! :)

    Make up bags are cheap and light. No reason to go to heavy Maxpedition products.
    Maxpedition Fatty might be okay to organize some of the loose items (medical, etc.)
    Personal protection: WHISTLE.
    Weight is an issue... she shouldn't load herself down. A nice Case knife will be classy without it looking manly. Or maybe a simple SAK (Victorinox Waiter knife is classy and functional).
    She also doesn't need to be lugging the chocolate around. So send it all to me.
