I love this Cleetus & George revival thing! We need more of that! As much as it would be kinda sad to tear apart the nice truck, a Freedom Factory big block flatbed is just too cool to not do. As long as you guys actually plan to use the flatbed and screw around with stuff, I say put the good cab on it and bring it back to glory. I can almost guarantee one of your friends will buy that frame and engine since, at the very least, the chassis is in fantastic condition.
a good running flatbed would be really handy for these guys. moving stuff around, picking up new purchases, at the track. That's really a nice tool to have. Much easier than a trailer for a blowed up race car on a drag week event.
100% flat bed big block imagine one of the fleet getting hauled to a strip on the back of one of it.
Need to find another cab for the flatbed and continue the project. Turn the diesel into a tow truck. Matching freedom factory wraps. Would make an awesome pair for the track!!!

Definitely build the dulley cool & make it a giveaway vehicle, and on the towtruck, put Cleeters tow truck service on the door & build the hell out of it. Patch it if you have to. Leave the patina the way it is and save them both.

My exact thoughts
Flatbed should be able to do a burnout, drift and run a 10-11 second drag racing pass and still work as a car hauler. Would be sick to take on race week and race it in the 11 index just for fun.
You should build both!! They are both really cool trucks that need to be brought back to life. Hellll yeah brother!
Hey Cleet, with the hydraulics on that tow bed, as its sat for so long before using it too much id highly recommend flushing out the reservoir and inspecting the hoses. Would be a shame to need a pump rebuild because of algae.

I had an 84 square body rollback just like that. I ran it for like 6 years makin money, sold it to upgrade. It was a workhorse for sure. Excited to see this project.

I think you're right... that diesel truck is too nice to part out. Maybe find a square body on auction with some rear frame damage to take the cab off of. That diesel power train would have been nice for the tilt bed truck though!

i came to say the exact same thing, this is the ticket right here! Even if it’s just a skirted flatbed or a dump it would be handy to have around the track

Whatever you decide to do i think you should call Derek at Vice Grip Garage and ask him if he has a square body cab and donor parts for the rollback and then get the diesel running and spruced up and put a track safety crew bed on it, get both trucks painted up nice to compliment the track but maybe do a throwback to the old livery and put them to work at the track. Get the ac working, toss some decent interior and dashes in them, hood braces, LED light upgrades maybe modernize the drivetrains later on but for now get everything working and properly maintained.

Id split the frames behind the cab n put the good front on the flat bed back done right (ty is good with math) the drive shaft should be right length. I was the guy that said boost the vette on the starter so you know it will work lol

Cleet, never forget that sometimes we just wanna see guys hang out and have fun together. A lot of us are stuck in a go to work take care of the kids cycle and just watching other people having fun with the boys can be what we need sometimes. 👍

That's the enslavement life the government has provided us, we all need a release from it I feel your pain (no kids though) but repetitive AF broke AF and I like in a small town where everyone is either old or on something hard to find like minded people.
First question... How reliable is that diesel after all the break clean? End of the day, that flat bead needs a no hassle, reliable engine, trans, and hydrologic system. Other than that? It doesn't need to do burn outs or a big smoke show. Make that beast a gem again.

I have wondered so many times what happened to the flat bed. We finally get to see something done with it since they bought the FF.
Definitely more relatable then helicopter content (which is still freaking awesome) and it reminds me of being around my Uncles and cousins.

One of the best videos I have seen. You have to fix them both up and wrap them to match. 1 of them as the flatbed and the other as a wrecker for the freedom factory.
Rebuild the towtruck , then build a welding/shop maintenance style truck with the white one. Get like a fleet of square body work trucks. 💪

I think, full frame resto, clean up the hydraulics, scrub the bed, all new LED lights, clean the paint and wrap it. Simple, clean and classy. The interior of the donor cab is MINT!!

I'm with George. It'd be a shame to dismantle a truck that clean. It's a survivor. A clean diesel dually square body is a rare find nowadays. Hell, it'd be a good track wrecker if the wheelbase were correct. I'd pick up another less fortunate squarebody to do the swap. As far as the 632, idk that it'd be the most reliable for a tow rig, but it wouldn't be used a ton I'd guess.

I vote stick with your original plan for the most part. GMC cab on the towtruck. put the 632 all refreshed in it, aim for like 5-600hp with some nice side pipes. Some beefier dually wheels. Just a semi-resto on the frame, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, get the tilt bed all serviced, functioning and looking decent and it would make such a sick addition to the freedom factory
Build both of them. Make the cab and chassie into a flat bed and fix the tilt bed.

Something that I learned from my dad years ago is to put your chain/rope through a piece of pipe while towing. If the vehicle being towed loses it's brakes, it won't completely ass end you.

That frame looks literally brand new, still has undercoating on it. Put the 632 and rollback bed on it and drive it
I think we need another science episode to see how much the last 65 hp in that at old big block can take.

Put the rollback deck on the diesel, it might need some fab work but Ty is capable of that. Rip the 6.2 out give it to JH, 6.2s were garbage from day 1. Replace the 6.2 with the big block out of twisted tea, keep it n/a so its actually usable. .

May I suggest a 5 gallon boat gas tank for this scenario. Throw it in or on the bed, run the line down the frame rail and you can even prime it with the squeeze bulb
632 in the roll back, that old girl spent her life rescuing others, shes earned a new life
Gotta bring the flat bed back to life with a big block & put a sick Freedom Factory wrap on it. Later build the dually with the diesel for an additional Freedom Factory work truck with the same wrap as the flat bed.
Buy the big block off JH, drop it in the dually along with the rusted cab, drop the twisted big block into the tilt tray with the good cab (it's the functional vehicle). Job done.
I’m more excited about this build than any other… inspires me to get my grandfathers 79 ford wrecker done. Was left to me when he passed. My opinion finish the tow truck build as u have planned. Not everyday u see a old flatbed wrecker sleeper lol

One of the funniest videos they've ever put out. It was a real hazard to be eating cereal while watching this episode. I had to put the video on pause too many times. Like I always say, no matter what they are doing, Garrett and his crew never cease to produce some of the greatest entertainment in history.

Run the flatbed as is with some minor fixes so it starts off a key. Leave it steamin without coolant and only 2nd gear. Thats the hilarious option. It works beautifully. Toss a strap on the door and send it.
