St Kilda Pier redevelopment: little penguins

The St Kilda Pier breakwater is home to a colony of approximately 1,300 Little Penguins. Given its close access to people living or holiday in Melbourne, over the past ten years, Parks Victoria has observed an extraordinary increase in visitor numbers to the pier to view penguins.
A new visitor viewing platform will be constructed to improve penguin viewing and protection. This platform is being designed with specialist input to ensure that penguins can move freely without the current intrusions of humans.
