I'm sorry I think you are being very critical, you are comparing them to conquest and victory models the price bracket needs to be compared against Vortex viper, Avalon 8x42,Leica trinovid 8x42, GPO passion 8x42 ect.
Also the Zeiss terra 8x42 are being sold through out shops in the U.K now for €385 (£350) plus Zeiss has an offer onto 1st July were they will give €40(£45) cashback which brings the price down to €345 (£315) an absolute bargain for optics of this medium Zeiss quality, Schott ED glass as well as an exit pupil diameter 5.3mm and capable twilight view, Zeiss are not going to put out a low entry point optic if they are not up to there standards in reflection to price of similar well known brands at the same price range .. Just my opinion 👍

If You say 'good value for money', then the brand sticker does not really matter. Only an idiot expects premium quality from a prestige brand for a low budget price tag.

you say 8x42 magnification but those are 10x42 right?

This was a very bad presentation. Not a mention of their optical quality. Did you actually look through them before you dismissed them? Many folk seem to be happy with the Terras. And I'd bet most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between these and the more expensive Zeiss models.

I was able to buy these for $350, which I think is an excellent value. The diopter setting has been updated. Much stiffer now, and will not move easily. At their regular price, I thing the GPO Passion is better optically. Honest review, some people just want their opinion validated, which is the reason for some complaints here lol

Given the price a 2 year warranty is expected?
Meanwhile the competition offers lifetime. Leupold, vortex, Bushnell etc.

while I appreciate your honesty in this review, I think you are also being a bit too harsh on these when you are comparing them to 1000+ euro binoculars, when these are only around 500 euros. Again, I do appreciate the honesty in your reviews, so thank you for being honest.

Hello, I am a little bit disappointed and I really need your help. In this world it is difficult to get through advertisement and propaganda and find an honest and expert opinion. Two years ago I bought a Diamondback 10x42, but I always wanted something better. Recently I bought this ZEISS Terra ED 10x42. I am not an expert, but I've got sensible eyes, and I find that the difference is negligible though the later is double the price. My concern is that probably I spend a lot of money for another binocular and it happens again. Is it real difference when you invest a thousand when you have the same category (10x42)? I would appreciate your response. Blessings

Eric, I don't want to write a whole chapter here, etc... but I've been using binoculars for over 40 years (trekking, animal and landscapes watching)... i'm an artist, a painter and get also 'very sensitive eyes'.... and believe me, the difference between binoculars of 500€, and binoculars of 1000 or 2000€ or more, is astronomical ! Believe me, it's another world that opens up to your eyes !! it's really enjoyable for the eyes, incredible !!
It's certainly a serious purchase, but you won't regret it even after 10 or 20 years... it's really another world that opens up to you !
(Just a recommendation....don't try such high quality binoculars, just 5mn in front of the store before you decide !!!....find a good dealer, leave him a deposit and maybe a piece of identity, and go outside, in the countryside, in the forest, an hour or two, to really realize !! )
      (°v°)

How'd you go? I'm stuck between these and Steiner Skyhawk 4. What did you end up setting with?

8 times magnification ? You should find a different job.

There are several numbers quoted (e.g. eye relief) that are actually from the 8 x 42 model. This channel also has a separate review of the 8 x 42. I suspect that the 8 x 42 review was shot first, then someone hastily revised the script for the 10 x 42 review and they just didn't check all of the numbers for differences.

a very poor review...you even say the 10x42 is 8 times zoom...

This is a pretty bad review. What I - and probably everybody who reads reviews - would expect is an expert opinion on the quality of the product. The only thing I got out of this clip is that the rubber protectors are good (or not so good) and the speed is somewhere between fast and slow. What about optics quality, CA (it is an ED lens!), sweet spot. How does this compare to other binoculars in the same class, e.g. the Nikon M7. The presenter seems to have a problem with Zeiss' decision to enter a lower class, but that should not be 90% of the "review".
