I would love to share my story. I had a stroke in March of 2023. I spent 32 days in a rehabilitation hospital . If you see me today you would not think I had a stroke. To God be ALL the glory!!! I share my story to recovering stroke patients.
What deficits did you initially have? Have you had hemiplegia? I am asking you because I had a hemorrhagic stroke with left hemiplegia, I could not walk for 1.5 months, now I can walk but I still have a lot to improve and I would like to know that there is a chance to fully recover. Anticipated thanks for the answer!
Getting immediate medical attention is extremely important. I had an ischemic stroke while sleeping. Upon waking I was unable to move my right leg. But somehow I managed to hobble about thinking I'd eventually walk it off. It wasn't that long after where I couldn't stand or raise my right arm. The impacted part of my brain at that point had effectively died. It's been close to a year now, and I can walk close to a mile and drive, but the process is going slow. It's worth mentioning that I have a greater appreciation for the gift of basic mobility no matter how limited. Have faith in recovery. The brain will rewire itself on demand (neuroplasticity). Musicians and athletes rely on neuroplasticity all the time whether they realize it or not.
Thank you for these encouraging words I was on the point of giving up on recovery.had a stroke in July 2023 went to rehab but my left arm has not responded to any of the treatment used I walk with the aid of a cane and now has high appreciation for mobility
@@alphiahibbert3259 Thank you for sharing your progress and struggles. Be sure to notice the slightest indicators of progress. And don't get discouraged when the progress seems to faulter.
I had an ischaemic stroke at 41 on January 26 2024 which was likely caused by my persistent Atrial Fibrillation. I had no idea I was having a stroke until a friend came to my door. At times I was lucid, at times foggy. The scariest part was being unable to feel my hand and seeing it almost as detached. After a week in hospital and 4 weeks of rehab I am feeling pretty good and well recovered. In the back of my mind, I worry every headache is a stroke but I know I now have a second chance at life.
I am 42, perfectly healthy, I exercise daily and eat well, no risk factors and had a stroke. There is no clear reason why. For me there was something obviously severely wrong, it happened suddenly and made me non functional immediately. It was not subtle. It was terrifying and felt horrible. Luckily I am recovering well. I had a good team who figured it out. I hope it never happens again. I’ll continue my healthy lifestyle and take my aspirin and try to live without that fear.
Not our experience not even close .. first visit sever headaches, ER completely miscalled it, Nov. 16, 2023 told PCP thought maybe having TIAs he sent us to neurologist with a prediagnoses of seizures. Had epilepsy when I was 8 years old no seizures in 53 years. Nov. 23, 2023, Neurologist stuck on seizure word. Told him had trouble moving left arm fell coming in from left leg weakness, 15th fall in last two weeks. Speech becoming distorted. Still stuck on word seizures. On toe to toe test stumbled lost balance. Still stuck on word seizure. Nov. 26, 2022 stroke. This is my wife's story, and every step from the health care professionals was blundered. They wouldn't listen, and still don't ..
I wish I was taken care as how they did to her. I’m 43, had all the symptoms, numbness, right sided weakness, nystagmus, migraine, vertigo. Was taken to the ER at the Veterans Hospital. First Doctor did nothing but ordered the Nurse to administer Ketorolac and Zofran. Hours later, I became numb even more on the right, that’s when my speech changed. The initial doctor left and it took the relieving doctor to do all what was supposed to have been done. Called an emergency Neurologist, had imaging done. I was finally admitted and told o suffered a Brain Stem Stroke. I also was told last minute that I have 50% Focal Stenosis on the right ICA. At this point I don’t know what’s next for me
@Blasian Goddess. Hi I fully understand you. I had a stroke as well, and all they did after 11 hrs of waiting in the ER, all they did was admit me in the hospital. I did'nt have therapy or nothing. After 5 days they send me home with a bunch of meds (drugs).

God is good.
The effect of my stroke is severe because i didn't get hwelp until the next morning because i lived alone
Why did they send her home the first time... only kept her 36 hrs and didn't fix the stenosis? Then she has a bigger stroke.
Dee B you should know the answer to that : )
