The cost alone can't be worth it
Lmao it's def not worth it. I mean why not move 2hrs down the road 😂😂😐.
It's not worth it he's saving by the cost of living in Chesterfield, VA having a house and yard compared to DC he'd be living in a closet. Especially now that Amazon is there the cost is too much probably have to pick up a second job like so many other people up there in northern VA.
@@vatorichie4616 nova Is way too expensive. In the southern part of Virginia houses are so much cheaper. 3 bed 2 bath houses with a yard for $895 a month. Nova more like $1500 + for something smaller.
My dad drove over 180 miles a day to work and back for about 15 years to his construction job. We all called him crazy. And when he finally had a good opportunity to rent a place closer to work, I know he doesn't regret the extra sleep. He deserves the rest. Thanks dad, you have done more than your fair share of work for us.
Man when i was in construction there was dudes that lived in levels, moorefield wv and we was on i66 centreville area and they would leave their house at 3:30 am and get home like 6:30 pm
As a visitor to the DC area, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Alford at his place of work. Our meeting was scheduled for the very early time of 7:30am, and while I was prepared for the horrific DC traffic, I was still somewhat frazzled by the time I completed my hour and thirty minute commute to his office. When I voiced my distaste for the long commute, Mr. Alford just smiled. Now I know why.

Can't imagine how exhausting this would be to do 5 days a week.
I miss my old job washing cars where work was a mile away
@Mr Shikigami He has not responded. Could be dead.
Mr Shikigami found a better paying sales job but now I commute 40 miles total a day. Doesn’t sound bad but I’m hitting rush hour every drive home and it hasn’t help my nihilism.
I’ve been working 2 jobs since June. One 5 days a week, the other 7 days a week. Today is the first day I’ve had off in 5 months. I don’t know which schedule is worse, but I feel he’s a little better off than I am.
I used to have a commute about half that distance, 60 miles both ways and I had to get up at like 4 in the morning to get there by 7 and not get home until after 5/5:30 (after I had already left at 3)
Why not live in DC mon-fri and then stay in VA on weekends? You're literally wasting years of your life commuting
Hes an idiot, plain and simple.
I live and work in the VA DC Metro area and a lot of people do this commute, he’s not the only one. I’ve worked with people who commute from Fredericksburg (halfway between DC and Richmond), people who commute from Maryland, and people who commute from Pennsylvania too. Main reason why people move further out is because cost of living in the area is absurdly high
Mai-Khanh Huynh to each their own but people seem to forget their lifetime is also absurdly short 🤕
Because he is a idiot
Mai-Khanh Huynh commuting from PA isn’t that far it’s only like an hour.
That's a good man

@@GDGUY4LIFE I'm really not being ugly, simply asking you to consider the situation:

Soundz gr8 to me ?#>&%$
Erick Reed i knew you were not being rude, and me personally I couldn’t deal with any commute over 35mins a day. However, I did take a gm position at a retailer with a nice salary at 20 yrs old, and had to drive avg of 4-5hrs a day to get the lofty position i had beat out many with twice my experience for. Now i own a company and manage it successfully with the knowledge i gained in structured retail management training.. my point is, if your making money well beyond what ou could attain locally and providing a high quality of life for many people by sacrificing your own; this is winning.. to be selfless and support and provide is what drives a lot of men and women for that matter. Some people can be as happy in this commuting and grueling life as a naturalist would be in the forest on a self sustained property..
I made the drive for 2 yrs and basically never had to commute over 15mins again....

He's probably spending the money in gas and wear on his car even though he makes more money. No way I'd do that. His family wouldn't get quality time anyway during the week.
Jeff Finley 3x the salary? Try again. Only thing he’s neglecting is his body which is something you can get used to. Millions of people do worse.
Watch the video again. He doesn't drive from his home to DC. He only drives 80 miles to a parking lot then shares the ride with someone, then catches 2 trains to DC.
Did you not see him awkwardly dancing with his family in the backyard?. He makes the most of his quality time with the fam when he can.
it'll also take its toll on his body and his mental health, which cannot be recovered if it's bad enough, not to mention all that time lost from this hellish commute

Being from California, I'm done with commutes. When I moved to San Antonio, I was already sick of a 20 minute commute after 1 year. Not only that, but my new place is also significantly also closer to things I want/want to do/need. I can now go the whole week without ever getting on a freeway.

I'm very blessed to have one of the shortest commutes you could ask for.I have 2 stop signs, and one traffic light, that gives you a green light within seconds. It takes me about 2 minutes to get to work. It takes about 4 or 5 minutes to find a parking spot. I drive less than 3 thousand miles a year, so that equates to 1 oil change, usually right before the snow flies. I take my car on the Interstate every now & then, and drive about 80 mph for 20 minutes or so, just to get the fluids up to snuff, and get the moisture out of the exhaust system. I fill up once a month, whether I need or not, and I drive Crown Victoria. Hats off to this dedicated man that has true family values. You really have to admire him.
Why don't you walk or ride a bike?

Riding a bike would mean changing and taking a bath before work. Better to ride it later in the day.
When I get off of work, several hundred people are getting off of work at the same time. I don't want to mix a bike into the fray.
Too dangerous.
Wilbur Snaffel
There's always walking. Of course, if the walk is along a busy street with no sidewalks that would kill that. Back in the 70s, I walked or rode my bike a mile to the train station, then a 40 minute train ride to the Chicago Loop. I walked very briskly; excellent exercise.

He should fly up Monday morning, stay all week in DC, and fly home Friday night.

A neighbor commutes from an Albany NY suburb to an office across from penn..He said about 2:45 door to door if everything goes right. Crazy. He gets work done on the bus or train and leaves early.
I’ve done it before when I lost a good job and had to maintain everything I had. I drove 3 hours each way from Houston to Corpus Christi, Texas everyday until my lease was up and I could move.
Imagine he travels back to the 80 miles from home where he parks his car only to realize he left de keys at his desk
Human intelligence: I'm a family man, I got myself my dream job so while I'm away from my family I'll enjoy myself even more while being away from them, and now I can buy them even more material goods to replace my being there, I'm a family man.
Not gonna lie I read the title
Virgin man commutes 220 miles a day 🙂
If i got paid 3 times as much for a job i actually love doing, yeah. I’d travel too. Gotta make sacrifices. 🤷🏽♀️
Or you can you know, just have an apartment in Washington D.C. and come back on the weekends. Idk seems alot more reasonable to me.
Owen West Not that reasonable the point in him getting paid 3x more and having such a long commute is to save money not to have another expense in paying rent.
@@joeylaker724able I imagine 160 miles a day on gas adds up.
@@Tofuey mostly highway eventually maybe but less painful than city

3x as much as his last job 😐
Lots of guys in my field do very similar drives lol.
I drive 160 miles one way each day when we're doing 4-5 10's but when we ramp up to 7 days a week I stay out of apartments.
Power lineman, if you're curious what I do. The average commute with the guys on my crew are 2 hours one way.
My dad used to work with a guy who traveled, each day, from Clemson, SC to Tucker, GA. 230 miles a day. He was glad to do it. But the other part was he had a company car.
