I made this mistake about 5 years ago, against my better judgment. I let my best friend of 15 years, whom I talked to multiple times a day & saw at least 5x a week, borrow the $1200, so she could keep her house for her & her 4 kids. About 6 months later - close to tax refund time, when she was supposed to repay me - she started distancing herself, even though I HADN'T said a SINGLE word about the money the WHOLE time! She got over $12,000 and gave me _just_ $350 back, which she acted like she was doing me a FAVOR by giving it (back) to me; I NEVER saw another penny! I got a lot of ridiculous excuses about her not having cash, problems with the bank, having to work overtime, not feeling well, her house was a mess & didn't want anyone to see it, etc. ... All contact completely ceased a couple months after she got her big check and then, ironically enough, 2 years ago she ended up moving right across the street from me. She's tried reestablishing our relationship - acting like the whole debacle never happened - and I've remained amicable, but I have NO desire nor reason to want to be friends with her anymore. 🙄🤦♀️😮💨😮💨🤷♀️
